yslsetAs much as I love to try out the newest, latest, and greatest beauty products I find myself seeking comfort in the reliability of good old beauty favorites. What I mean is, some beauty items, whether it be your favorite mascara, perfect foundation, or go-to gloss will always do the job and therefore hold a special place in the beauty addict's heart. For me, no matter how many tubes of new mascara I buy (all chronicled on the Ebates blog) I always find myself returning to Yves Saint Laurent Faux Cils because I know its going to work and I know the tube is going to last, and it is the dependability that I find so comforting from time to time when my new formula mascara flings feel a little too risky. I also find comfort in Sephora. I know they will give me free samples, I know they will pay me 4.0% Cash Back, I know they will have my Faux Cils, and I know I will always leave with more in my shopping cart than I went in for.

I tried to divert my attention away from the new products on the homepage (I even started out this blog with the intention of writing only about the mascara!) and quickly navigated to the YSL section when I saw out of the corner of my eye "Online only. Limited edition" Those words jump out at me as if they were posted in a bright neon sign. I clicked and discovered this Yves Saint Laurent Radiance Essentials Set (a $107.50 value, just $75). The kit includes Faux Cils Mascara, the must-have Touche Éclat radiance pen, and the new lust-worthy Top Secrets Flash Radiance Skincare Brush to add a glow all over. It is easy to justify this set, and since I would already be buying the mascara, it is like getting a full-size Touche Éclat and Radiance Skincare brush for just $45. Plus, I will earn free shipping.

If you are new to YSL beauty, this is a great introductory kit, packed with best-sellers and award winners. Trust me, it will not disappoint. Plus, we are all looking for a little extra radiance in our skin and now you can get it for less at Sephora and get cash back from Ebates.

I have my beauty standby on the way (with a few extras), what are yours?

That's right, kiddies; two of my great loves are being united: Old Navy Clothing and free shipping. Through March 4th, if you spend at least $75 (a high level, yes, but come on, who doesn't spend $75 when they shop at Old Navy?) you will get free shipping with coupon code ONFREE75. It works, trust me, I already ordered some of those fine Poplin Long Sleeved Shirts that I mentioned last week in the Hello Monster look blog along with a few more pair of short socks that I love so dear. I may have three extra pair still in their wrapper at the moment, but when you're paying $5 for three pair, and it's getting shipped for free, who wouldn't order more?

Men's Poplin ShirtPlus, at the moment, Old Navy is having their "Fun"damentals Sale, where you can save on everything from solid tees to shorts, flip flops, and even jeans! I know it's odd to be shopping for flip flops when it's still storming all across the country at the moment, but at two pair for $5, you can look forward to months ahead of wearing them! Or, even better, if you're socked in with bad weather, and you have your hands on some of this
beach wear, crank up the heat in your house and have an "indoor summer." It may not be the most environmentally friendly idea, but a few margaritas can chase away that concern.

No matter what you get, make sure you stop at Ebates first to take advantage of 4.0% Cash Back and a rotating collection of Old Navy Coupons. After all, even if you can't take advantage of free shipping in the next week, you can always enjoy $7 flat rate shipping across all Gap properties.

Shop-our-Shoes-and-AccessoriesYou never know what you'll find while shopping for platform shoes.

This photo courtesy of Read Hard or Die, shows my beloved Stevie Nicks effortlessly kicking butt in platform shoes. I show you this photo as inspiration, for I too have hopes for doing amazing things in platform shoes. No, I don't want to have a ninja fight in them, but rather I'd like to be able to master walking in them. Such a feat may sound easy, but coming from a girl who loves her flats, this is a task I'll need some help with. For the past month or so I've been eyeing these Chie Mihara Devenue Platforms at Shopbop, and I am determined to not only walk in them, but to actually be comfortable in them. So like I said, no easy task.

Devenue PlatformsThe past few years have seen a resurgence of platform shoes in fashion. Although most styles aren't the retro kind like these, platforms have slowly been making a comeback, and I couldn't be happier. At first glance, these may seem like an item taken from the set of Hair, but paired with skinny jeans they become current and a nice change from stilettos. Of course, the nature of these shoes means they'd be perfect when put up against a bohemian blouse or wrap dress, but that's not to say these shoes won't go with more modern items. To pair with this season's military trend, try these with cuffed cargo pants, or wear with a floral dress to soften a fatigue jacket. I'm excited to see just how many ways I can wear these shoes, but even more exciting is getting 6.0% Cash Back at Shopbop or $20 for those math haters out there. That's a nice chunk of change that will make my Big Fat Check even bigger. Considering check time is also on my birthday, it's like a birthday present as well.

travelingmaxI need a vacation. Judging by the looks on the faces of my fellow commuters, the supermarket checkout guy, and even my fellow coworkers, this sentiment is shared perhaps even gone rampant amongst people sick of Winter and in need of a break. Like me, I assume many of these people feel that they cannot afford a vacation because the cost of getting away is pretty low on the priority list. But do not despair! There are many deals to be had on travel, and thankfully you can earn increased cash back at six of our of our best travel merchants during Ebates Travel Week. free shipping couponsHello again, and welcome to yet another fine installment of Free Shipping Friday! First and foremost I want to wish a happy birthday to my dear ol' Mom, whose birthday is today. I don't know for sure if she'll read this or not, but I figure it's always better to hedge my bets a little and make sure than have to hear about why I didn't wish her a happy b-day. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I will say that I can't believe we're already at the end of the month! As is often the case, there are far too many deals for me to even try to wrap my head around at Ebates as the month ends. Heck, there are over a hundred Free Shipping Coupons that expire by the 28th, so I would be leaving out far too many or typing my fingers to the bone to get enough down for you, so I'll say just click on any of the text mentioning free shipping or just click on Max Cash and that will take you to all the latest and greatest!

Have a great weekend everyone!

max_taxesAs I write this I am making a mental note to do my taxes by the end of today. Why the sense of urgency? For starters I have a nice refund coming to me, so wait until the last minute? And second, Ebates Tax and Office Week ends tonight. This means my time to get 12.0% Cash Back at H&R Block, 6.0% Cash Back at Macy's, or 4.0% Cash Back at Staples is running out.

Aside from the obvious tax prep, there are other benefits of shopping this week's stores. Small business owners will love shopping home office furniture at Target and saving 15% plus free shipping on orders over $125. And for those who have already received their refunds, Macy's is a one-stop shop for everything Spring. Ladies will get free shipping on clothing orders over $75 with code FIRSTLOOK, and fellas can use the same code to save 20% off shoe orders over $75. If office supplies are what you need, Staples offers everything from coffee to binders, but since this is tax time, you may want to check out their tax center. You'll find helpful tips on tax prep, not to mention plenty of savings on the latest in tax software. So whether you're shopping for Spring sandals, or trying to get the most deductions, do it with Ebates and enjoy double cash back!

Joie Floral Blouse At PiperlimeAs I write this post, I can hear the wind howling and the rain beating down on my window, yet still I have Spring fashion on the brain. Granted, Spring storms are a dime a dozen, but today's rain still indicates that it is still very much Winter. But if it was not for Spring fashion, we would have nothing to look forward to!

Over the weekend, I posted here about how to incorporate Spring makeup trends into your look, even if the weather does not cooperate. The same can be achieved with Spring clothing. While it is far to early to whip out the platform sandals and the mini dresses, look for Spring prints that you can layer to make them more appropriate during the transitional months. One of my favorite and the one of the most wearable trends for Spring is bold floral prints. Spotted all over the runway on some of Fashion's biggest names, this trend is feminine, classic, and easy to incorporate into your wardrobe. A great example of this trend is this Izzy Bracelet Sleeve Floral Blouse by Joie. Categorized on the Piperlime site as a "day to night" top, this is the perfect piece to wear now and later, day or night. The bold print is super feminine without being overbearing and the oversized cut keeps the vintage looking print feeling modern. I will wear this now with jeans, my rain boots, and a cardigan sweater or later tucked into a skirt, with denim shorts, or with my favorite loose khaki pants.

Hurry, sizes are selling out fast! But don't worry, Joie has a huge selection of gorgeous spring blouses, all available at Piperlime where you will get 2.0% Cash Back from Ebates and free shipping!

Better World BooksAt the risk of sounding like a hippie, I will admit this merchant combines two things that I think are wildly important for future generations: it saves books and saves the environment. See, what these fellas do at Better World Books is "rescue" books that are either donated or designated for destruction, and sell them at a fraction of what the titles might cost new. Not only are they offering books to consumers at a reasonable discount, they also donate both funds and books to four major causes backing global literacy. There is a running counter at the top of their site which shows, at the time I am writing this, that they have donated over seven and a half million dollars and thirty-two million books to help fight illiteracy across the globe.

I am always pleased when I know that a merchant of ours is out there trying to make a difference in the world, and that's one of the many reasons I try to keep this weekly feature running - so I can highlight merchants like this that don't have the name recognition of some of our bigger merchants, but provide similar services. Plus, Better World Books offers the whole range of books, from textbooks to novels to comics and even children's books.

So if you get a chance, read their story, if you're at all like me and love books and take a world of joy from reading, you will feel a little bit better about maybe spending a dollar or two more on a used book if you know that it is going to a good cause. You will also be able to take advantage of free shipping on all orders within the US, plus, let's not forget that you will be getting 3.0% Cash Back on all your purchases by shopping through Ebates, so a portion of what you spend is going to another worthy cause -- your wallet!

Spring teasers can be hard on the fashion-minded. The fluke warm days can make a girl drag out her boxes of seasonal dresses, flouncy tops, and last year's gladiators. But as soon as reality hits (like this past weekend's rain storm) the dresses stay boxed and the only items I'm pulling from my closet are sweaters and extra blankets. Spring fever can spark erratic behavior in the shopping department, and the last thing I need is shopper's remorse and an out of this world credit card bill, which is why this week's Ebates Obsession is Urban Outfitters. They carry an extensive collection of budget friendly tops, accessories, and shoes so I can get my fix without paying for it later. Speaking of getting paid, I'll get 2.5% Cash Back at Urban Outfitters.

Silk Pleated CamiI've mentioned before how spending upwards of $200 on a top is silly, yet I continued to get sucked in by the draw of designer fashion. My solution to this problem is to balance out the two. For every frivolous and overpriced top I purchase, I buy a few reasonable tops like this Silk Pleated Cami. Priced at just $54, this top is perfect for Spring/Summer, but under a toasty cardigan like this Striped Blanket Cardigan I'll stay warm even if the weather isn't.

Straw Fedora.Another upside to longer days is all the extra sunlight. Of course the downside of this is constant squinting and later wrinkles, but this year I'm hoping to avoid all that with this Straw Fedora. Sometimes sunglasses aren't enough to protect a girl from the sun's glare, but hiding under a massive hat isn't exactly becoming. This hat features an adorable bow detail, and just enough brim to cover my eyes, but not my line of vision. Priced at $28, it's an inexpensive way to prolong those pesky wrinkles, plus it's retro 40's design looks great when paired with this season's floral dresses. Now that I've picked out a few Spring items, I'll be able to hold myself over until Spring really hits, or just until the next teaser.

Don't overspend on Spring Fashion! Shop our Clothing category instead.

NBC Vancouver 2010 Highlights DVDRegardless of if you are an avid Olympics watcher or someone who tunes in from time to time, there is something special about the Olympics. Watching athletes from around the globe come together to display their talents is truly a one-of-a-kind event and worth tuning in to. I love the figure skating although I cringe and look away when a skater slips or falls.

This year seems especially magical, and although there is a really healthy dose of competition, there seems to be a real sense of sportsmanship and community among all the athletes and I am all for that. A way to remember this memorable Olympic Games is by shopping at the NBC Universal Store, where you will get 3.0% Cash Back from Ebates and  good deals on a ton of memorabilia and Olympic swag. One of these can't miss items is the 2010 Vancouver Olympics DVD with highlights of all the events. You can pre-order your copy for just $24.99 and it will be shipped to you when it is released on April 27th.

Also find team U.S.A. tee shirts, pins, hats, flags, athlete video games, and much, much more. Show your support of the games or you favorite athlete and save when you shop at NBC Universal Store though Ebates!

One of my secret addictions known as SSB (Secret Single Behavior) is weddings. On any given night I can be found watching Say Yes To The Dress or the hilarious Bridezillas while basking in the glory that is drama, dresses, and a few cat fights. Of course, this isn't to say I applaud such behavior, but nothing satiates my appetite for good TV like an argument between two salespeople vying for the same $6500 gown. When I'm not being a couch potato, I love pretending I'm picking things for my registry, which not only satiates my appetite for shopping, but housewares as well. In this spirit of imagination, below are my top registry picks, and considering June is a few months away, Summer brides should be planning their registry as well. Luckily for the bride (and the guests buying these gifts) Ebates has top stores like Target, Crate and Barrel, and JCPenney all with cash back and loads of gift options. Let the fun begin!

KitchenAid MixerStore: JCPenney 3.0% Cash Back.

Item: KitchenAid Mixer.

Why: Commonly known as the Holy Grail of kitchen appliances, this mixer is currently selling for $299. That's a savings of $100! Not to mention it comes in every color of the rainbow, and can whip up breads, make pasta, grind food, and more.

Wusthof KnivesStore: Crate and Barrel 3.0% Cash Back.

Item: Wusthof 8 Piece Knife Set.

Why: Made in Germany since 1814, this line of handmade knives are popular with chefs worldwide, and this set includes everything a new couple (or singleton) could need. Complete with solid wood knife block and sharpening tool, you'll get years of use from these professional grade knives and impress your friends too.

Corelle DinnerwareStore: Target 4.0% Cash Back.

Item: Corelle Dinnerware Set.

Why: Different seasons and different occasions call for different dinnerware. This sixteen piece set features a summery flower detail, but is by no means too girly. Priced at $59.99 this gift is a great way to add decor to your home while keeping everyone's budget in mind.

Home Office DeskWe all need our own work space when at home. Even those of us who spend very little time at home like yours truly usually spend a little time in front of a computer, whether we are blogging, paying bills, watching videos, or just chatting with friends. This past weekend, I spent some time doing a little photo editing work and I couldn't help but notice that my workspace (pictured at the left), as efficient and laid out as it is, still looks like a desk setup from the fifties that just happens to have a nice Mac and some accessories on it. The desk is older than my dad, the chair would be worlds better if it had actual padding rather than intricate embroidered designs, and though you can't see it from the picture, the file cabinet on the left, despite being a good spot to hang my Kerouac portrait, is missing handles on three of the five drawers. In other words, it's time for a little home office makeover.

Home Office MacysLuckily, and hardly by coincidence, it happens to be the week of the Business and Office Tax Sale at Ebates, where in addition to tax prep software, we are cutting prices on everything a proper home office needs, from tech to furniture. In particular, I've had my eye on some of the offerings over at Macy's, where they are double all the way up to 6.0% Cash Back. Here I can find everything from desks and desk chairs to pieces like this "smart credenza" which will not only allow me to both stash and charge all sorts of those gadgets and gizmos (but somehow I still can't find the right place for my stuffed penguin, and yes, that is my electric toothbrush next to the Wacom stylus, nobody's perfect). But right now, not only is Macy's offering free shipping on furniture purchases over $1999 (yeah, it's steep, but what can you do?), but with 6.0% Cash Back, you'd be earning about $120 in cash back if you were to reach the free shipping limit.

Bobbi Brown Rich Color GlossThis time of year, it is really easy to prematurely yearn for Spring clothing and weather. Add a slightly warmer Winter week into the mix and you (like me) have likely busted out your Spring wardrobe staples only to be reminded that Winter is not over when the weather rebounds. Luckily, even if you are stuck in Winter clothing, you can lighten up your makeup and incorporate some Spring trends to break out of the monotony.

One of the biggest trends this year is a coral color palette. This trend is refreshing and wearable and can be worn even on the most wintry days. You will likely encounter a lot of bold matte coral lipstick shades this Spring, and while I love this look, it is a bit harder to pull off when it is still Winter. In the meantime, a more suitable coral lip shade is Bobbi Brown's Rich Color Gloss in melon. This gloss has the rich pigment of a lipstick but the easy of application and finish of a nice gloss, so it is easier to work into your current makeup routine. Pair this color with flushed cheeks and a natural eye for a fresh, pre-Spring look. Add some more coral touches for your complete look with items from the new Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals Collection. Bobbi Brown Rich Color Gloss In Melon

Pick up the Melon gloss and a few extras at Bobbi Brown Cosmetics and get 4.0% Cash Back from Ebates plus free shipping and a free full size lipgloss or eyeliner (with code GLOSS7 or GEL, respectively) with a $65 or more purchase and put a little Spring in your step!

Just a quick disclaimer, this was Poppy's idea. I think it's pretty clever, so I'm running with it, but I'd never have thought to do it without her prompting.

Get-the-Look-Hello-MonsterMost of you know me as Bill, the blogmaster general here at the Ebates blog. I lead a somewhat silly life filled with free shipping deals, random merchants, and the occasional bizarre find on eBay. However, most people who only know me through Ebates channels don't realize I also am a musician, and in honor of my band's upcoming show, which has the office all abuzz, I decided to do a little "get the look" special for our own blend of clean cut non-offensive rock boy sexiness. (and that's me on the right, in case you were wondering)

The most essential thing about playing in a band like this is pants. It sounds crazy, because who really looks at your pants when you're onstage, but I tell you this: if your pants are uncomfortable, you will have a bad night, and if your pants are not durable, you will rip something somewhere embarrassing when loading your gear in or out. For my money, you can't beat Dickies. I usually tend towards the grey, though black work in this look just as well. Whatever color, both work with 4.0% Cash Back on already-low prices.

For the shirt, I recommend the Old Navy Poplin shirt. Gap used to make one that I still wear and love, but alas that one disappeared about five years ago, but these shirts come in at a close second. Even with a tie, it's nice to have a softer collar, and the fit is a size, rather than specific measurements, so I recommend getting two sizes around what you might be, and figuring which fit you like better. Still, for just $20 at the moment, with 4.0% Cash Back, you're doing just fine with the Old Navy option.

The only rule in capturing our look with regards to ties is that it's got to be striped, preferably red. Sometimes it's best to stick with what you know works, and I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that the Men's Wearhouse always has good looking ties and 4.5% Cash Back. At the moment, they're currently offering a deal on ties where you buy one, get one 50% off, which is nothing to shake a stick at. Plus, they offer tutorials on how to tie a tie, which always helps!

Finally, the shoes. This is what sets us apart. Most bands, if they bother with the whole shirt and tie look, the knee-jerk automatic shoe of choice would be a boot, but keeping things a little bit younger and more fun, I am always a proponent of the Saucony Jazz. Like most of the Hello Monster color palette, I stick with the black and silver, which ties nicely from the black shirt and the grey pants. They're currently $45.95 at ShoeBuy, who offers both free shipping and free returns, and a whopping 10.0% Cash Back.

So there you have it, now when we blow up, you can say "I know how much cash back that guy used to earn on his outfits."

Writing for this blog, I aim to be completely honest about my fashion shortcomings. Just because I love fashion and shopping, doesn't necessarily mean that I am always "good at it" in my own personal life. Quite frankly, just like any other woman, I am prone to outfit ruts. I swear, as much as I love my skinny jeans, if I wear them one more day in a row I may implode. When I buy dresses and skirts, I am happy I have them and I do wear them on special occasions, but in the day to day I am a jeans and button up or tee shirt kinda girl. But I must break out of this rut!

Generra-Pants From ShopbopI found these Generra Pleated Front Slouch Pants at Shopbop for $195 with 6.0% Cash Back (that translates to $11.70 added to my account). So the pants look average and black pants are not exactly a departure from jeans. I kept my expectations low and when they arrived tried them on with a few tops in my closet. Because the silhouette is completely different with the slouchy style and flattering pleated front, they felt fresh, modern, and much different than anything I had. Although I had a tinge of panic, thinking "Will I ever wear these?" I powered through and now they may be my favorite new purchase. I am sure the pleats in the front would scare many rational-minded women away, but trust me, it is flattering (especially with a fitted top) and the slip leg and ankle style make them very fashionable with just the right amount of classic tailoring. Give them a try yourself and get out of your fashion rut with something a little unexpected.

Plus, with free shipping and worldwide delivery in three days or less, instant gratification from shopping online is now a reality and it pays with cash back from Ebates!

Note: we get comments about the models wearing clothing we feature from stores, so I thought I would do something out of the normal and take a photo of myself in the pants!  I will have more details about that top I am wearing, but until then I am wearing this Floral Print Blouse from Piperlime.

DVF-Spring-2010February is my favorite month is San Francisco. The past few months of wind and rain give way to sunnier and longer days, and the city's energy changes from dreary to cheerful. After spending the past few days basking in the glory that is warmer weather, I've become fixated on shopping for Spring Fashion. One of my favorite Spring 2010 trends is clothing made for the tropics. Bright colors, bold prints; it's as if Carmen Miranda started her own clothing line, and I'm loving the festive vibe. I also love cash back, so when it comes to Spring shopping, I am sure to use Ebates first.

DVF-Syrah-TopOne designer who has taken this trend and transformed it from theatrical to wearable is Diane Von Furstenberg. Her Spring 2010 Collection is full of island inspired clothing like flowing dresses, bright bangles, and tropical prints. This Syrah Top from her Spring collection has the same tropical feel as her runway pieces, yet this is a little easier to blend in with the rest of your wardrobe. For those of you still covered in snow, this top works well when paired with dark jeans and knee high boots. As the days get warmer, try this top with a pair of loose cargo pants, or a tiered skirt, another one of this season's hot trends. Although this top is selling at a few different stores, only Saks Fifth Avenue offers Free Shipping on orders over $150 with code SHIPFREE2. Add in 2.5% Cash Back and you've not only saved money, but you've earned it too.

As for me, I'm on a tight clothes budget, so buying items that work with what I own is crucial. I'll wear this top with last year's boyfriend jeans, and my platform gladiators. Looking current doesn't take a new wardrobe. It just takes a little bit of imagination!

As much as we all want to avoid tax time, it is inevitable and right around the corner. A happy reminder that I need to get my affairs in order is the Ebates Business and Office Sale where six of our favorite stores have increased cash back and exclusive offers that make doing my taxes and getting my home office organized a simple and money saving task. One of these stores is Target, who have increased to 4.0% Cash Back and have literally everything you would need to get your taxes filed and your home office in order. Add to that a bunch of free shipping coupons & Tax Software on sale, and you have the makings of a money saving extravaganza when you shop through Ebates!

So while I am shopping for my tax software and new filing cabinet (always save your pay stubs!) I can get more cash back on my health and beauty essentials, home cleaning supplies, home decor, clothing, and accessories. Before the seasons change, I am always looking for that one item to define my wardrobe for the next season. It could be something as simple as a cheap pair of shoes, a piece of jewelry or even a tee shirt; whatever the item is, it sets the tone for how I will dress for the next few months. I never know what I am looking for or what it will be, but when I see it, I know it is the right item for the job. Because it is starting to feel like Spring here, I have been paying more attention to my Spring clothing and after close examination of my closet (a crucial step), I realize that I only need a few new items, and must make sure all of it is reasonably priced and classic enough to last longer than a season.

Alexander Wang Knit Top At Nordstrom
When I saw this T by Alexander Wang Top, I knew this was the item I was looking for to round out my Spring wardrobe. Priced at an affordable $100 and available for pre-order at Nordstrom with 3.0% Cash Back from Ebates, It will look great with a pair of dark wash jeans and sandals, a black skirt and ballet flats, or dressed up with some slacks and heels. The endless ways in which I can wear it make the price completely reasonable, plus its classic-meets-edgy design make it more interesting than a typical tank, so even when I wear it over and over, I will not get tired of it.

Pick one up now for yourself (it is set to ship March 1st) and add a chic update to your wardrobe for $100 with 3.0% Cash Back from Ebates.

Shop-This-Trend-At-EbayWhen I think of purchasing industrial furnishings my grandfather's voice pops into my head saying "what is this a wood shop, where's the furniture?" It makes me chuckle as I can understand how a man raised in the depression might view buying 70 year old rusted furniture as the act of a crazy lady, but none the less I am all over this design trend. Although many stores have caught onto this trend - thus producing replicas of antique items like stainless steel work tables, rotary phones, and wrought iron light fixtures, I prefer the original. And where else can I shop the rare and unusual but eBay?

Factory-Coffee-CartThe above image (courtesy of Design For Life), shows how a remolded factory can be turned into a swank apartment while keeping authentic details intact. The wrought iron columns feature Corinthian capitols, yet they manage to work perfectly with more modern elements like the chairs. This Factory Cart, also known as a coffee cart, looks fresh from a textile mill, and you'll find several different styles on eBay, ranging from the inexpensive to the oh my. Whatever you decide, shopping at eBay will get you 2.0% Cash Back not to mention free shipping on thousands of items.

There is nothing better in life than receiving money. Okay that's crazy right? I mean having children, falling in love, or eating gooey fudge brownies are all amazing things, but so is getting my Big Fat Check. This check run I'll have a cool $90 to spend, and if you count the $3000 total of my ever growing "wish list", I just might be able to whittle it down a bit. This check also comes on the heels of a great fashion epiphany that will change the way I shop forever.

Free People Plaid ShirtThis epiphany comes after many years of buying clothing from multiple fashion movements like boho, artsy/modern, romantic girly, and laid back menswear. Never sticking to one theme meant my closet is filled with pieces that although great alone, do not compliment each other. It was decided that if I had to dress for my personality, my theme would be hippie/bohemian. My go-to items are always along the lines of peasant tops, western inspired items, long dresses, and sandals, so buying this Studded Plaid Shirt fit the bill. Priced at $98, my big fat check covers nearly the entire total, and because Shopbop charges no tax and offers free shipping, my total remains $98. I love the plaid print and gauze-y material of this shirt, and the studded detail at top helps to give this a bit of a western feel. Considering another go-to item are my cowboy boots, this shirt fits in perfectly. Shopping at Shopbop yields 6.0% Cash Back, or, for this item, roughly $6. Now that I've streamlined my look, I can continue to rack up the cash and chisel away at that wish list of mine.

Bliss Triple Oxygen + C CreamI have always wanted to have that dewy, rosy-glow skin that I see on models and celebrities. And while I have realistic expectations about what is actually healthy skin and what is photo-shopped, I still think my skin could use and extra push to be more glowing and supple. This is something I think most women want which is why there are millions of products promising to deliver more supple, radiant skin. It is my experience that most products do not, however, give me the glow I am looking for. That was the case until I got my hands on Bliss Lab's newest creation this Triple Oxygen + C Energizing Cream, avaliable at Sephora for $54 with 8.0% Cash Back from Ebates. This newly released moisturizer is inspired by their famous oxygen mask and is packed with a double dose of beautifying oxygen, tons of Vitamin C ( a proven glow enhancer) and is paraben free.

The lightweight gel formula glides on and does not feel thick but gives enough moisture for normal to dry skin. It is the perfect companion under makeup and seriously imparts a lasting  glow after just one use.  And it ships for free from Sephora.com.

So if your Valentine's Day is not enough to give you that sought after glow, fake it with Bliss's newest ( and greatest to date) product the Triple Oxygen + C Energizing Cream and get cash back and free shipping!

Happy Valentines Day!

If there is one sort of cultural fetish object I can't resist for the life of me, it's a typewriter. I know, I know: they're old, they're unreliable, they call for needless upkeep, and they were rendered obsolete back before I was even born. Still, I have some memories of being a youngster and getting to use my parents' electric typewriter to write stories - apparently I had dreams of being a writer even as a youngster.

As I've grown older, my love for typewriters has only grown. I love the idea of really taking your time and making keystrokes that matter, of not being able to manipulate text like we do on the computer: with a typewriter there is a sense of purpose, a sense of permanence. Plus, of course, there is the memory that so many of our great writers slaved away at typewriters honing their craft. Plus, remember, I'm not getting rid of my computer to buy a typewriter. But man, I couldn't be more excited. After some weeks of quietly watching and looking, waiting for a functional vintage typewriter to show up, I finally pulled the trigger, winning this beauty of an Underwood. It's the old school manual typewriter I've always wanted, complete with latching suitcase-style carrying case and enough ribbon to keep me going for the time being.

Underwood
Naturally, since I shopped through Ebates, I'll receive 2.0% Cash Back on this purchase, which just might pay for that first replacement ribbon when the time comes. In the meantime, I can write this blog and say that you truly can find just about anything you want on eBay, and with our Ebates custom eBay search page, you can be completely certain that your order should track!

It is really hard to describe my obsession with tee shirts. I find a good tee shirt collection to be an absolute essential to a functioning wardrobe. Tee shirts are crucial especially this time of year, when Spring is around the corner and I can start to layer my lighter weight clothes with tee shirts underneath and get out of the doldrums of my Winter clothing.

On my quest to find some new tee shirts to layer, I checked out Gap because this weekend they have increased to 8.0% Cash Back for Ebates Presidents Day Sale! On top of increased cash back, they have a ton of stylish and affordable items to entice my taste for a Spring wardrobe. I found these V-Neck Pocket Tees, on sale for $12.50 reduced from $16.50. Available in a plethora of colors from the most basic neutrals to a perfectly worn in peach shade: a great compliment to Spring's khaki's and army greens.

I can't lie and say Presidents Day is a time of great importance to me, but I can say my hometown of Quincy, Massachusetts was home to two of our first presidents; John Adams and John Quincy Adams. Growing up in a town surrounded by such historic places as the homestead of John Hancock does instill the revolutionary spirit of wanting to live a prosperous life. So what better way to embrace this ideology then with extra cash back? Thanks to Sears being in our Presidents Day Double Cash Back I'm able to partake in some patriotic indulgence, which, after all, is what stimulates our economy!

Good Design Can Change Your LifeI don't have to tell you Sears offers great savings like an extra 30% off clearance toys, up to 70% savings on fine jewelry, and apparel deals like jeans for the whole family on sale. But what I may have to tell you is how easy and affordable it is to decorate your home with decor by Ty Pennington. Always on the prowl for a new addition to my home, I was pleasantly surprised to find this collection houses a huge selection of bedding, dinnerware, decorative items, and even furniture, all at affordable prices. It should also be stated his book, Good Design Can Change Your Life, is my personal mantra. This decorator's guide to establishing design that's not only functional but enjoyable is a must-have for anyone (myself included) who could use a bit of help. On sale for $22.50, you'll receive 4.0% Cash Back at Sears and begin the process of changing your life, one room at a time.

Working at Ebates is amazing! Even in these tough economic times more and more shoppers are coming to Ebates for their online shopping. Each time that we begin printing checks and sending Paypal payments, the list of folks getting paid gets longer. We've watched the check printing project go from being a weekend project where we filled the backseat of a Jeep and drove to the post office, to now being a month-long undertaking that culminates in the mailing of millions of dollars.

As we've said before, this is the best part of working at Ebates. We love sending you money!

This time we are sending out cash-back and bonuses that were earned prior to January 1st. Due to the size of the payment distribution, all payments are not sent at once. We will begin processing payments now, and all eligible payments will be sent soon.

Your Ebates account may change, your cash-back may moving from "Cash Pending" to your "Cash Back History". This process will be competed for all eligible accounts by Monday, February 15th. We realize that this is a postal holiday, so we hope to get most of the checks mailed early. Paypal payments will be made on time, if not early.

If you are waiting on a payment, and don't see it coming, please make sure that you have at least $5.01 in cash-back for orders in your account dated prior to January 1st. Also, make sure that you provided your name and mailing address to us by February 1st. If you don't qualify, don't worry; any funds that do not get paid this time will be carried over to our next payment date in May.

We appreciate all of you using Ebates for your holiday shopping and telling your friends about us. Please enjoy your payment from Ebates, you earned it!

Happy Shopping from Ebates Customer Care

I have learned the hard way about the importance of proper and functional running shoes. Granted, I did take on my new exercise regime with a dedication I long to have in other aspects of my life, and even though it came at the expense of my swollen and possibly sprained ankle, I really did prove something to myself by hitting the gym so many days in a row. One of the less poignant lessons was the importance of proper footwear. I'd say the shoes I was wearing for running were purchased in the beginning of last decade and they were not in any condition for serious wear. I have paid the price.

Nike Lunar Glide Plus from Finishline
With all of our Shoes & Accessories stores to choose from, I knew it would be easy to find the right pair of running shoes at the right price. With the help from a few running forums and a homemade test to see how much I overpronate, I figured out that I needed a cushioned shoe made for stability control to keep my feet in position as I run. Finish Line offers a vast selection of shoes and accessories for all sport and 5.0% Cash Back when you shop through Ebates with a ton of coupons. That was enough to lure me in. I found the right shoe: the Nike Lunar Glide Plus, for $99.99 with free shipping and a $10 off $60 or more coupon with code SPRINGRG. The shoe is lightweight and good for daily training, has plenty of cushioning, and is made with stability control to keep the foot (and the ankle) in place while I run.

I cant wait to put these new shoes on and hit the ground running!

Han Solo CarboniteUnfortunately, this site doesn't offer a chance to buy Han Solo merchandise, or the harder-than-steel metal used to lock up everyone's favorite intergalactic renegade. Still, as the company's CEO explains in their blog, the name is derived directly from the Star Wars universe.

Rather, what Carbonite.com offers is an online backup service for all your valuable files. Let's face it: most of us don't back up our files nearly as diligently as we should. Personally speaking, I am obsessive about file retention, so I do a pretty good, but not everyone has multiple 1TB hard drives sitting around with an entire computer's worth of documents, music, and photos on them. Still, even my seemingly-foolproof system is subject to failures or forgetfulness. For instance, it has been probably two months since my last system backup on one of my external drives, so if my computer were stolen, or spilt upon, or otherwise corrupted, I'd be completely without my last month's worth of music purchases and photos taken.

That's the beauty of Carbonite - they automatically run backup software, which will scan your system for newly added or modified files to backup in a simple background program that doesn't interfere with your computer's functionality. Then, whenever your computer is idle, it will begin to upload that data to their online backup. If you suddenly log back on, Carbonite pauses the upload. It's really that simple: you'd never even know it was there. At just over $30 a year with a three year subscription, that's a small price to pay for such ease and peace of mind. Moreover, with 15.0% Cash Back when you shop through Ebates, you have even less reason not to use this handy service.

Plus, when you back up files you never have to define to yourself just how much you're willing to pay to recover your data. I have friends who have been wrestling with just that question for over a year now: are their pictures (some of which are definitely "priceless") worth the drive recovery cost, which might run up to $2000? With a subscription to Carbonite, you'll never have to answer that question yourself!

Take care of your computer for less with deals in our Computers category!

Shop Ebates Clothing CategoryBows have been in fashion for a few months now, and my affinity for them (which I have blogged about here) may seem surprising. It's true I'm not the girliest of women, but this trend is less about pigtails and lace, and more about the artsy and creative. With Spring around the corner, I'm eager to lighten up my wardrobe with this feminine trend.

D & G Silk ShirtLady Gaga used oversized bows as head pieces, but I think I'll do a more subtle version like this Silk Shirt by D&G. A dainty but funky way to incorporate bows into my wardrobe, this silk chiffon shirt dresses up basic blazers, or looks perfect alone. On sale at Saks Fifth Avenue, you'll get 2.5% Cash Back and save $160. For those procrastinators out there, Saks Fifth Avenue is offering free rush shipping on orders over $150 with code RUSHVAL. Just in time to treat myself to a little love, I'll be on trend and raking in the cash back thanks to Ebates!

Alas, another week and another exciting shopping package here at Ebates. Because Monday is President's Day (three day weekend - woohoo!) we are celebrating the occasion with increased cash back at six of our stores: Old Navy, Gap, Dell, HSN, HP Home and Sears. This sale starts today, and the savings will last through Monday. Surely these great stores will have sales for the long weekend and now you can increase your savings with more cash back!

Running Capris With Cash BackI plan on taking advantage of 6.0% Cash Back at Old Navy and I will stock up on some new activewear to outfit my newest pastime: Running! Trust me when I say I have never been a runner, and although I did get fairly regular exercise in the past, it was never as grueling as what I have committed myself to now. Hitting the gym often really requires an activewear wardrobe, and because I am unwilling to spend too much of my budget on gym clothes I need to find a good deal without sacrificing quality. Until recently, I did not know Old Navy had such a good selection of activewear, most of it priced well under $30, and just $7 flat rate shipping, a 20% off coupon (use code ONSAVE20 on adult merchandise orders of $100 or more), and 8.0% Cash Back. You can get all the gear you need for a lot less. These Zip Pocket Running Capris are just $19.50 and are perfect for hitting the gym. Paired with one of these Active Racer Back Tanks for $16.50, I will be ready to go without tugging and adjusting.

Check out the great selection of activewear with hoodies, sports bras, yoga pants and more at Old Navy and enjoy increased cash back from Ebates!

Yesterday the New Orleans Saints wrote the final chapter to their fairy tale season, defeating the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV. After just missing an undefeated season, the Saints rallied in the second half to defy the odds and come away with a hard fought victory. It seems like most everybody I knew was pulling for the Saints (yours truly was as well), so it seems only fitting that I should mention that you can get all your officially-licensed New Orleans Saints Super Bowl gear at the NFL Shop with 6.0% Cash Back.

New Orleans Saints Super Bowl ChampionsWhether you are looking for jerseys, hats, bobbleheads, ceramic gnome banks, collector cases, polos, and so on and so on. What I'm driving at is that if you want anything that says both "Saints" and "Super Bowl Champions", chances are you'll be able to find it at NFL shop. I personally think the best deal on their site at the moment is the "Trophy Collection Bundle" - this collection has the official Saints Super Bowl Champion T-shirt, baseball cap, towel, and Champions DVD, all for $89.96. I know that may still sound a bit steep to some of you, but remember this: not only will you be getting about five bucks in cash back when you use Ebates, you could be spending $24.99 and just have one bobblehead to show for it.

Be sure you hurry, with the phenomenon of Saints mania that's sweeping the country in the wake of this epic Super Bowl win, I don't doubt that a lot of these products will be selling out over the next week or so.

No matter who your favorite team is, you can find great deals on official apparel and customizable gear at NFL Shop.com!

When trying to decide on an important but not overly aggressive title for this blog, Erykah Badu's song aptly titled Time's a Wastin' popped into my head. Benjamin FranklinIn 1789, Benjamin Franklin said "In this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes." While the actual verbiage is quite conflicting out there on the Interweb, the essence of what he said remains the same and rings true to this day. And this time of year, we all have it on the brain, the inevitability of tax time. Undoubtedly, taxes have become a bit more complex since the time of Benjamin Franklin. We have first time home buyer credits, Earned Income Tax Credit, write-offs, dependents, multiple jobs, 401ks, and everything else to complicate the tax paying process. Thankfully, to make it easier, we have plenty of software and tax expert services to help guide us through, e-file, and get our refund on its way. We make it even easier at Ebates, where you can earn cash back on your purchase of tax software or earn on your tax services. Getting cash back on life's necessities is something else you can know for certain when you shop through Ebates.

Check out our Finance category will you will discover tax services available with cash back from H&R Block, Free Tax USA, and more. Or, if you would like to do it yourself, pick up some helpful tax software from all the big names and make it as easy as ever to file.

Thursday night I had a little spare time when I got home from work, so I decided to spend the evening at a few local used music and book stores. As most of you who read this blog on any kind of regular basis probably already know, this can be a very dangerous thing for someone with a disposition like mine. See, I go to stores with a set list in mind, and I know exactly what I want. Then I look a bit more, and a little more. Next thing you know (as happened Thursday) a trek to get a handful of new books and music ends up being four CDs, five DVDs, and three books at a cost of something in the neighborhood of $125. This is what happens when I have a night with nothing going on - I'd have been better off staying home.

half.com dealsBut really, I'd have been much better off had I just gone to Half.com. I wouldn't have driven around town, I wouldn't have had to walk to and from my car in the rain, and I probably would have gotten the same stuff for about two thirds of what I paid. It's no exaggeration: even at used prices, I found almost every item I bought on Half.com for less, plus in most cases, I wouldn't have paid California's ridiculously high sales tax, and I would have earned 4.0% Cash Back - talk about making your money work for you! With the cash back I could have earned, I would have been able to get another book! (which is exactly what I need)

So check it out for yourself - they have an amazing selection of books, DVDs, Music, Textbooks, and video game stuff (consoles, games, accessories, etc). I know it may not mean much to you, but what impressed me is that they have solid discounts on books by Charles Bukowski. That may seem like a random statement, but I just had a discussion in the lunchroom on Friday about how the bookstore I went to (one of SF's most renowned) didn't have anything I didn't already own, and that other website named after that rainforest didn't have good used prices on any of his titles. Lo and behold, I should have just gone to Half.com for great prices and 4.0% Cash Back.

Find what you want at Half.com or at eBay, it's parent company.

Every shopper has a distinct and methodical way of selecting merchandise. Some use a system of elimination (I have four pairs of jeans, three pairs of shoes, and one blouse - I need more blouses). Some are erratic and swayed by the direction of the wind, and others are impulsive and buy whatever the eye finds attractive. I shop by need and by store, so my present situation of needing a table lamp and my love for all things Horchow have come together seamlessly thanks to 20% savings and free shipping on all lighting at Horchow. Just use code SHINE at checkout and receive substantial savings. Plus of course 3.0% Cash Back

Coral Lamp From HorchowLiving in an apartment building built in the 1930's means I have unique period details like built-in cabinets, hardwood floors, and original tiling. It also means I am lacking certain luxuries, like say an overhead light. So far I've tried to remedy this situation with a very bright and bold floor lamp, but walking past its glare can make one see double, and as my only source of light, it's not very versatile. What I need is another option, something to balance the bright glare and illuminate my studio, something like a table lamp.

When it comes to marrying my love of the eclectic with affordable price points I'm usually unsuccessful, but this Coral Lamp is a marriage made in heaven. I love the architectural elements this lamp has, although it's representation of coral fits my "au naturale" design theme. At just $200 it's a very reasonable price for what you could call a designer lamp, and more importantly, it will give me what I am currently lacking: light!

Michael Pollan Food RulesBy now, I think most people have at least thought about changing the way that they eat. For most people, and I used to be one of them, the main obstacle in overhauling my food consumption was not really knowing where to begin and not understanding all of the conflicting information out there. I got turned on to Michael Pollan a few years back in a PBS special based on his simple food theories. While watching the program, something clicked. I logged on to my computer, bought his books (The "Omnivore's Dilemma" and "In Defense Of Food" and from then on really felt that I had a more clear understanding about the foods I eat and the impact they have on my body and the environment. Pollan makes it really simple, especially in his latest book, "Food Rules: An Eaters Manual". This is essentially a handbook of what you should be eating (and what you shouldn't) and how. But don't be mistaken, its not your traditional "diet book". In it are sixty four easy and logical rules that can be essentially summed up with this "Eat food. Not too much. Mostly Plants". It totally makes sense and that makes it easy to live by. Find more information here.

With the Superbowl coming up this weekend rule #39 comes in handy: "Eat all the junk food you want as long as you cook it yourself". Bingo. You will have more control over the ingredients going into the food and will be able to savor the process more. There are a ton of recipes out there for delicious dips, finger foods and all the junk you love that can be made in your own kitchen.

Pick up "Food Rules: An Eaters Manual" for just $7.92 at Barnes and Noble and get 4.0% cash Back from Ebates.

I'm shopping for Spring now, and why not? February is when Spring fashion starts rearing its flimsy, light-hearted head, and I'm tired of stocking up on sweaters and other dowdy clothing. Regardless of Punxsutawney Phil not seeing his shadow, my thoughts are filled with this season's neutral palette and 90's influences. As my Spring wish list grows, so does my desire to keep prices within a respectable amount, so I'm thrilled the following two items are both under $150.

Anne Floral DressThis Spring's floral palette isn't like the bold, oversized patterns of recent years. Instead, it's more more like the prints worn by 90's fashionistas Winona Ryder, Drew Barrymore, and Bridgette Fonda. This Anne Floral Dress looks as if it stepped out of the movie Reality Bites, and I can't help but feel a bit nostalgic for a time when ripped flannel and Doc Martens were de rigeur. Made of silk, this dress looks like it would be priced above $200, but it's just $145 with 6.0% Cash Back at Shopbop. Before the air warms up, this dress will look cute over dark tights and paired with heavy boots. If only I had kept mine!

Botticelli WedgeAnother trend I'm loving this season is a neutral palette. Personally I'm not found of neutral colors against my skin (olive skin is tricky this way) but as for accessories, I'm all about it. This Botticelli Wedge from Endless comes in a light beige color and features a wedge heel just shy of an inch. Not only are these easy to walk in, but they're pretty versatile. Whether you pair these with the dress above, or with jeans, you'll be on trend while spending a mere $62. Besides the great price, shopping at Endless means you'll get Free Overnight Shipping and, of course, 6.0% Cash Back.

There is a lot to look forward to around here at Ebates. Valentine's Day is just around the corner (that means the increased cash back continues), cash back payments will be sent out on February 15th, which is like our special Valentine's Day gift for you, and tax refunds will be on their way. If you are lucky, all of that means that you may have a little extra cash in your pocket and now is the time to make it count!

Madewell Rope Belt From Shopbop
Hopefully you have taken full advantage of the increased cash back at twelve of our Valentine's Day stores. Now its time to shop a bit for yourself. When my cash back comes, I plan on putting it towards some new accessories to spice up my wardrobe and renew some of the Winter items I am sick of. I figure this would be the best way to get the most bang for my buck. Investing in some timeless accessories (think jewelry, belts, and scarves) is always a good way to update your clothing, get more inspired to wear different outfit combinations, and to get the most mileage out of each dollar you spend.

After some careful browsing of all my favorite Ebates stores, I found this belt, available for a palatable $52 at Shopbop. Perfectly inline with Spring's nautical trend, this rope belt will pair well with denim, high-waisted shorts or over a cool jersey dress. In the meantime, I can wear it to add some shape to my more voluminous sweaters and make my layered looks a little more put together. Try it out for yourself and get 6.0% Cash Back from Ebates and free shipping!

Vagabond Necklace from Shopbop
Before you check out, take a look at this chevron bead and glass pearl necklace. I never spend money on jewelry for myself, but this necklace really caught my eye. Priced at $135, I think it is classic and unique enough to warrant a little higher price tag. It will look great with everything from a simple white v-neck  to a printed blouse that has been hanging in my closet for months, or with my favorite little dresses when the weather improves.

Pick up these wardrobe updates as a little Valentine's Gift for yourself (or for someone on your list), spend your cash back or even your tax refund, and indulge a little! Look out for more ideas to come!

Valentine ChocolatesLast week I dropped a bit of a bombshell, letting you know that women do, in fact, enjoy flowers. This week I'm here to impart a bit more knowledge: women also like chocolates. Around this time of year, said chocolates are even more effective when delivered in heart-shaped boxes. And if you really want to go for the gusto, you can get her both. Yep, I know it's crazy, but it does tend to work from time to time.

So now that I've dropped this serious knowledge, I need to tell you where to go to get these chocolates. As always, you should start at Ebates, where we have increased cash back on two of our most popular chocolate merchants - Godiva Chocolatier and Ghirardelli Chocolates. Throughout the duration of our Valentine's Day Sale, you be able to take advantage of increased cash back at both of these merchants. Godiva Chocolatier is increasing to 9.0% Cash Back, which is up from their usual 5.0%. In addition to increased cash back, they also have wonderful deals on a whole range of heart-shaped goodies, plus with coupon code HEARTS, you'll get free shipping on all orders $50 or more.

Ghirardelli Chocolates also has no shortage of great chocolates, and no shortage of cash back -- they are also offering 9.0% Cash Back. Plus they're a San Francisco company, so you know I have a lot of love for them. Moreover, they have an exclusive coupon code for you Ebates users; through Valentine's Day, use code Ebates15 for free shipping on orders over $50 plus 15% off your order - that's what I call a coupon!

So take it from me, you can get some great chocolate and some great cash back at our Valentine's Day Sale - but hurry, it takes time for chocolate to ship!

It's as if they took the guess work out of decorating your home, and instead created a fun way to shop.
