The beginning of the year is a great time to think about your resolutions, and one you can definitely keep - because it doesn't require you to work out every day or cook everything from scratch - is to travel more. Plan to save a set amount of money each month to put into your travel fund and then follow it up by choosing an affordable destination. Deciding where to go may not be as easy as you think, since there are tons of great places to visit that won't cost you a fortune. The top 10 budget destinations for 2013 are:

large_holiday-travel.jpg

1. Toronto, Ontario - Canada's largest city offers everything from a rich history to great shopping.
2. Antalya, Turkey - Enjoy the best of Europe and Asia alongside the Mediterranean.
3. Loire Valley, France - You can always take the train into Paris for the day.
4. Palm Springs, California - Pack your sunscreen for all the great outdoor activities you can do there.
5. Ko Phi Phi, Thailand - A true resort island cluster that caters to tourists and it's fun to say!
6. Nashville, Tennessee - The metropolis that brought you both Taylor Swift and Ke$ha has activities that are just as varied.
7. Northern Ireland - One of the poorest economies in the UK is perfect for budget travelers who like rolling hills, cool spectator sports and hiking.
8. Slovakia - This country is taking its cue in tourism from the Czech Republic.
9. Boracay Islands, The Philippines - Voted Best Island in the World, you can vacation in luxury on a shoestring.
10. The Bahamas - A quick jaunt from the U.S. finds you in clear waters that are awesome for diving and viewing from a beach chair over an umbrella drink.

Summer is not the only time to travel. If you have kids, you may feel limited, you can vacation during the school year with a little bit of planning. Many teachers don't have a problem with students being taken out of school if they keep up on their work. Since you'll be traveling in the slow season this way, hours for attractions are usually shorter and they can study in their downtime after sightseeing all day. If you must travel in the summer, the fourth of July can offer you savings, just like flying on other major holidays generally does.

So, where should you go and when? The first half of February is a slow travel time, because Spring Break is right around the corner. It's cheaper to visit Europe in the spring and early fall and you can also take advantage of the mild weather, too. Airfare rates drop before the winter holidays. Enjoy savings the first two weeks of November as well as the few weeks after Thanksgiving.

Still don't think you can afford a real vacation? You can find deals on more than just flights if you do a little research, and don't forget about the promo codes and cash back you can get at many travel merchants with Ebates. Take into consideration the money you would have spent by staying home as well. Add up what you would devote to things like eating out, entertainment and anything else that isn't necessary at home for the time you will be away and deduct that from your estimated vacation cost for a true cost, since you would have spent that money regardless. Above all, know that there is a vacation to fit every budget, so don't resign yourself to another staycation when you can enjoy an affordable - and exotic - trip that will make memories that your family will cherish.

The weather is chilly, but men everywhere are beginning to sweat.  They have vague memories of Christmas gifts gone bad, but the details are fuzzy.  Does she want practical or fun?  Useful or extravagant? When it comes to gifts, women generally fall into two categories:

"Please don't spend money on anything frivolous.  Give me something I need!"

or

"How dare you buy me something I need?  Gifts should be things I would never buy for myself!"

If you're not confident into which category your significant other falls, ask yourself these questions:  Does she make snide remarks every time she uses the dish scrubber you put in her stocking last year?  Does she sigh heavily while donning the gorgeous-yet-impractical necklace that she rarely has a reason to wear? I promise if you've been doing it wrong . . . she's given you hints for the past eleven months.

If you're still not sure, do some sleuthing.  Throw out a few "Joe From Work" stories and pay close attention to her reactions.

"Joe From Work asked what kind of dishwasher we have.  He's thinking of buying one for his wife for Christmas."

"Joe From Work has been looking at diamond earrings online.  Boy, those things are expensive, but he says his wife likes to get that kind of stuff for Christmas."

Say it...and watch.  A look of horror means you don't want to be Joe From Work.  A nodding head and puppy dog eyes mean Joe is doing things right. If you determine that practical is the way to go, please be warned that the most divisive gift of all...is anything related to cleaning.

Tread lightly, and follow this rule: Cleaning-related gifts must produce visions of an easier life, not a harder one.

A mop and bucket? No.

A steam mop?  Yes!

Rubber gloves and a ten-pack of dishcloths? No.

A new dishwasher?  Yes!

Anything that requires muscles or sweat is out.  Choose something that gives her hope. Hope that she'll have time to relax and watch her favorite show because it took no time at all to do that pesky household chore.

giftguidetemplate-forhim-cleanSlobCORRECT.jpg

From an informal survey of my blog readers, I learned the number one cleaning-related gift women want is...maid service.  Second was a steam mop (1). After that, they wanted a Dyson vacuum cleaner (3), a neat desk scanner(4), a Roomba robotic vacuum (2), a washer and dryer (6), or a dishwasher (5).

All of these things fall into the I-wouldn't-buy-that-for-myself-on-a-random-trip-to-the-store category.  They're products that women believe will make their lives easier.  They bring about feelings of relief because they promise less work, not more.

Good luck!  And I hope you experience the warmth of a thankful hug rather than the heat of glaring eyes this Christmas morning!

Fall is by far, my favorite time of year. I can cuddle up with my husband and son on the couch, drink pumpkin flavored Starbucks, and listen to the band play at the high school football game all from my house! I love to decorate and take our son to the pumpkin patch, and go on hayrides. So, when I found this adorable craft on Pinterest (somewhere in my thousands of pins) I told my husband this was on his honey-do list for this fall!

steph1.png

This is an extremely simple and CHEAP craft! The only materials we needed were:
  • empty coffee cans
  • black spray paint (You can always use another color. We wanted ours to match our black electric jack-o-lantern).
  • A small drill bit
  • Sand Paper

Directions:

  1. Use the power drill to create the words using a small bit. I recommend having an extra coffee can to practice on before you begin.  I always try to have a test model of any craft I create.
  2. Decide what words you want on each can. You can do "trick or treat" on one large can, or "trick" on one and "treat" on the other can if you are using two cans.  Hubby decide he wanted "trick" on one and "or treat" on the other, so this is entirely up to you! REMEMBER: You can also do other words like "fall, leaves, wonder, hope, etc."
  3. After created your words, it helps to rough up the outside of the can with some sand paper to help it stick better.
  4. Paint the outside of the can black (or whatever color you choose).
  5. Let them dry, then wait until dark and insert a candle. You now have a SUPER cheap and easy fall decoration.

Although I love decorating for Halloween, I like keeping the decorations more whimsical rather than scary. Our street is very popular for Trick-or-Treaters, in fact we usually have around 800 kids. Many of them are little children, keeping that in mind, we put out fun Halloween Decorations like the Crashing Witch.

With just a few simple supplies, you can create your own Crashing Witch!

Crashing Witch Supplies:
  • Cauldron
  • Tights
  • Green Fluorescent Paint {we bought Bright Neon Rust-Oleum}
  • 2 cans Dow Great Stuff Insultaing Foam Sealant {you will use about 1+1/2 cans, depending on the size of your cauldron}
  • Spray bottle with water {not pictured}
  • 2 limbs for the legs {we used about 2 inch in diameter, the more knots on the limbs the better}
  • Plastic bags and filler material
  • Newspapers to wrap Witchy up
  • Shoes or Boots {we found these at Goodwill, last year we used some of my old boots, any will work as long as they fit the limbs}

SAFETY TIPS FOR PETS AT HALLOWEEN

Although Halloween is fun and exciting, it can also be a stressful time for your pets with all the noise and commotion. Here are some important things to keep in mind during the Halloween season:

  • Don't share Halloween candy with your pets. Chocolate is toxic to dogs and cats, and other candy could damage their teeth and overall health. Make sure when the kids come back from trick-or-treating, they put their stash out of paws' reach.
  • Keep your pets at a safe distance from trick-or-treaters. Having a steady stream of strangers on their turf might make pets anxious and unpredictable.
  • As you open and close the door to dish out candy, keep an eye on your dog or cat. Pets can easily slip away in all the commotion and end up lost.
  • If you put a costume on your pet, make sure that nothing about the costume could interfere with his breathing or ability to see. Also, check for and remove      any parts of the costume that could tangle or choke him. And keep on eye on him the whole time - never leave an outfitted pet alone.
  • If you take your dog trick-or-treating with you, make sure that he is on a leash and has the proper ID tags on his collar. You don't want to have to go looking for him, but if he does get lost, tags with your name and phone number make it much more likely that you'll get him back.
  • If you have a black cat, or even a dark gray one, keep close tabs on him during the days and weeks leading up to Halloween. If possible, keep him indoors to prevent him from being the victim of a holiday prank.

Hello! This is Kelsey from Style Me Cheaply! I'm so jazzed to be apart of the Ebates $150 outfit challenge. I've been shopping with Ebates for years and am a huge fan. I'm all about fabulous style on a real girl budget so I was thrilled to use my shopping skills and Ebates cash back to pull together a head to toe look.

StyleMeCheaplyOutfit

I wanted to put together a look that was fun and feminine. One of fall's biggest trends in the peplum top so I was on a hunt to find the perfect one. I wanted to keep the pants casual and saw these at American Eagle, they are super comfortable, fit great and the price was amazing (under $30)! I love a good animal print and these leopard booties add the perfect amount of fun. Every outfit needs to be finished off with some fabulous accessories. I topped it off with a large statement clutch and gold earrings.

1. Black clutch (similar)- $16.99
2. Peplum top (similar) - $41.88

Our series on how to save money on the big three of travel needs (air, hotel, and car) is coming to an end. And to wrap it up this week we will focus on car rental tips that are sure to help you nab a deal to brag about.

Whether you're planning a road trip or need to rent a car when you land in your destination, there is no reason to pay outrageous daily rates for your rental. There are plenty of deals to be had this year, and knowing the right tips can help you score the best of the best. Plus, gas prices are pretty unpredictable this year, so it's even more important for travelers try to save as much as they can on the rental to help offset what's happening at the pump.

hotwireCars-opt.jpg

How to save on car rentals:

1. Reserve now, and shop opaque later. One of our favorite tips to get the best deal on car rentals is to find a great retail rate now and reserve it. However, as you get closer to your travel date be sure to check sites like Hotwire to see if any last-minute, discounted rates have become available. If there are better options, you can always cancel your original reservation (which is free to do) and book the discounted rate. Like hotels and airlines, car rental agencies often have plenty of cars left unsold and offer them to sites like Hotwire to sell at incredibly low prices - as little as $11.95 a day.

2. Consider smaller agencies that have more flexibility with pricing. By searching on car aggregator sites like CarRentals.com you not only see the prices of the bigger agencies, but you also get results from smaller companies such as Fox, USave and Payless. Sometimes these agencies can net you some big savings because they have to be more competitive with prices to draw business away from the big guys. However, with a smaller fleet of cars, these deals can disappear quickly, especially during high-demand times.

3. Check out off-airport rental locations. Airport fees and taxes in some locations can really drive up the final price of your car rental, so it's best to shop both on and off-airport locations in order to see where the low prices really are after you total up the costs.

We hope that our advice on how to save on airfare, hotels and car rentals has been useful to you. Remember to check out Hotwire.com for great savings on your next vacation.

FabFataleOutfit

Hi Ebates members!  My name is Jennifer, editor at Fab Fatale, and I'm beyond excited to be a part of Ebates Fall Fashion Week!  A few bloggers, including myself, were put to the challenge of styling an on-trend look for Fall at under $150, which was actually so easy with all of the promo codes I found at Ebates.

The outfit I styled revolved around this amazing floral blouse {picked up with a 20% off promo code found at Ebates}.  I thought I'd go with a fun date night look by pairing it with cuffed skinny jeans and the shoe of the moment, ankle strap platform pumps, both picked up at Charlotte Russe.  I found a few stand out, yet affordable accessories at Target including the black clutch and skinny belt.  I polished the look off with these fun gold hoop earrings from Kohl's and a rhinestone pyramid stretch bracelet from Nordstrom.

FabFataleCollage
Every piece of this look was put together with merchants I shop often, and all were affiliated with Ebates, so I saved big with the promo codes and then racked up on cash back for my purchases. I love earning a commission on my own purchases and every little bit adds up!

So what do you all think of the outfit I styled for Ebates Fall Fashion week.  Is this a look you would wear?

My outfit details:

  1. Candie's Gold Hoop Earrings - Kohl's $10.40
  2. Rhinestone Pyramid Stretch Bracelet - Nordstrom $12.00
  3. Printed Wrap Blouse - similar here (Saved 20% with Ebates promo code) $47.68
  4. Refuge Glam Ultra Skinny Jeans - Charlotte Russe On Sale For $25
  5. Sueded T-Strap Wedge Sandals - Charlotte Russe On Sale For $20.00
  6. Merona Skinny Black Belt - Target $12.99
  7. Merona Small Black Clutch - Target $7.99
Total - $136.06

Hello lovelies! It's Kristin from BonBon Rose Girls and I'm super psyched to be back guest posting for Ebates again! This time around I'm sharing the under $150 fall look that Ebates tasked me with styling. While I'm a total fashion fanatic and definitely appreciate designer duds, finding a good bargain really gets me all pumped up!

BonBonOutfit

A couple trends that I'm particularly loving this season are black & blue and snakeskin. Once I decided on the trends I wanted to rock, I had a blast shopping the many stores that Ebates offers cash back at to find the perfect pieces to create my budget friendly ensemble.

When I came across a little blue Tinley Road frock over at Piperlime, I decided it was just the thing to build my fall look around. I had a baby a few months ago and the silhouette was very forgiving to my post baby curves! Forget the little black dress. I'm all about the little blue dress these days!

Next up, I headed over to my favorite accessories hot spot, BaubleBar. The instant I saw their Snakeskin Cuff, I was in love. I layered it with one of their Pyramid Bangles and if I had had any more room in le budget, I would have layered on even more arm candy! I'm slightly bauble addicted. Haha! A cross body bag from JC Penney and killer black pumps from Payless set off my outfit to a tee!

1. BaubleBar cuff: $26.00
2. BaubleBar bangle: $20.00
3. Piperlime dress: $58.65 (with 15% off first purchase discount)
4. Payless pumps: $24.99
5. JC Penney bag: $20.00

Travel Experts of Hotwire.com here again sharing our tips for savvy travelers!

Last week, we covered airfare savings tips. This time around we will focus on how to save the most when booking your hotel. Travelers sometimes don't realize by following a few guidelines they can save big on their hotel stay - often scoring 4- or 5-star hotels at 2-star prices. And considering the rising cost of getting to your destination, scoring some great savings on your hotel can really help you extend your travel budget.

Hotwirehotel

How to save on hotel rooms:

1. Be flexible. It's possible to get a similar trip experience in so many different ways, but many destinations will cost less than others. Would-be travelers should focus on the type of vacation they want (beach, city, etc.) and then search a variety of locales to find the best deals. For example, you may crave a tropical beach escape in Hawaii, but you can avoid the high prices of this always popular island by choosing a budget-friendly trip to exotic destinations like Mexico or the Caribbean instead.

2. Choose big city markets and travel over weekends. Generally, big city markets such as Chicago and New York have incredible deals available during holidays and throughout the summer months, especially on weekends. This is primarily because business travel slows and is virtually non-existent over the weekends, and would-be travelers often head outside the city for beach/outdoor/drive trips. This leaves big city hotels with plenty of rooms to fill.

3. Shop opaque and act quickly. Prices may be going up with a slowly recovering travel economy, but bookings will always be the cheapest on discount travel sites like Hotwire.com. No matter how good the economy gets, suppliers will always need help with their unsold inventory, and they turn to opaque sites to sell it at deeply discounted prices. Additionally, if folks see a good deal, they should book it. It is always best to nab a great discount before it is gone.

We hope these hotel tips help to save you money on your next trip. Stay tuned for tips on car rentals next week!

If you're thinking about going camping over Labor Day weekend but are afraid that you'll need to purchase costly gear, guess again. You can keep it simple by buying a few key items - and you can split the responsibilities if you're planning a group vacation. Here are some ideas to get you started on a fun and inexpensive camping trip.

camping-opt.jpg

1. Bring a Few Coolers With Food
Unless you're able to catch your own food, bringing it along will save you a lot of money. Keep your meats in one cooler and your drinks and other more frequently needed items in another one. This will prevent the meat cooler from being opened too often and the ice melting as a result. Cabela's offers a variety of affordable coolers and you can earn 2.0% Cash Back when you shop through Ebates

2. Rough It by Staying in a Tent
Many consider renting a cabin or RV after a long road trip as camping, but to get the most bang for your buck and the real experience, set up a tent instead. Although Camping World is known for their RV's, they also offer a wide range of sleeping tents.

3. Cook on a Campfire, Not a Grill
Cook up some hot dogs and s'mores the old-fashioned way, on a campfire, which is a lot cheaper than a camping grill. REI has some fun and inexpensive gadgets, such as fire forks, to make the experience less intimidating. And of course you will be earning 2.5% Cash Back when you shop through Ebates!

Schools across the country will be starting before we know it! Elementary students are hitting the stores with school supply checklists in tow to fill their new backpacks with crayons, pencils, erasers, notebooks and folders. And then there is the need for a new pair of tennis shoes for physical education class.

Middle school students may have a few more gadgets on their lists to include calculators, protractors, compasses and the like. Once the kids hit junior-high and senior high school age, their priorities tend to shift from wanting new school supplies to wanting new clothes for school, mainly to impress their friends.

Then there are all the college students wanting to deck out their dorm rooms for the new semester! Here are a few tips when buying bedding for college dorm rooms:

1. Find out what size beds are provided in your specific dormitory. Most of regular sized Twin beds, but a few have Twin XL mattresses which require special sheets that run a little longer than normal Twin sheets. Some dormitories even provide futons that use a Full size sheet set.  Both Twin and Twin XL mattresses can use Twin comforters, and a Full size mattress could use a Full or Queen sized comforter.

2. Since dorm rooms are usually compact in size, you have to consider that the beds are probably used as more than just a bed, but also as a couch, desk, table, etc. Knowing that, I recommend a color or pattern that will withstand stains as it's bound to get dirtier than normal.

3. Last but not least, look for high quality bedding, not only to endure the wear and tear I just described, but will also last the few years of dorm life. College is expensive enough without having to refurnish must-haves every year!

Here my top picks of bedding that not only fit the bill for quality college dorm room bedding, but are also "student-approved" as the trendiest college bedding styles:

Have you seen the new store Sweaty Betty popping up on Ebates?  This UK-based female sportswear brand has finally made it over to the US with its new US e-commerce site and I am jumping up and down with excitement (how many calories do you think that burns?).  I had the pleasure of working for them when I lived in London and since moving back to the States, I haven't found anything that compares to their mix of fashion and function in workout wear. Check them out if you haven't already!  Even better, they are having a great swimwear sale right now: up to 75% off!

As an avid runner and yogi here are my Top 5 favorite Sweaty Betty Products:

Favorites:

In case you weren't aware - last Friday was International Women's Day -  a day celebrating the achievements and struggles of women all over the world, throughout history since the 1900′s.   Yay Women!  For those of you who spend your days battling in different trenches - ones filled with dirty laundry, grocery lists and sticky children - you may feel you haven't contributed much to the archive of Great Women's Achievements. I say NOT TRUE!

I  want to share something with you that I wrote a few years ago.    I had a regular blog then, before I started writing for Time 2 $ave Workshops, and I'd just come home from my first coupon class (I was in the audience).  "Extreme couponing seminars" were quick becoming the new Tupperware Party in my town and I had to see what the buzz was about.  I needed a whole lot of convincing - because couponing seemed to be too much work for $.50 Off here and there.  On the other hand, this is the girl who collects dryer lint, empty egg cartons and candle remnants for months to make campfire starters...  so maybe I should stop calling the kettle black and just get my pot-self to a class!  I did...

I walked in about 10 minutes late, as usual.  The room was packed full with women of all ages.  I slid into a seat at the end of a table and glanced down at the packet of papers in front of me.  It correlated to the powerpoint presentation being given at the front of the room- it was a list of Coupon Lingo with definitions...  2 PAGES LONG.

What the What??  Somewhat daunting, no?

I looked around at rows and rows of housewives who had their eyes glued to the instructors, hanging on their every word.   This wasn't what I had expected.  An exciting atmosphere of subversion hung in the air- it felt as if we were being initiated into some sort of underground, anti-establishment movement. We were joining the sisterhood of frugal housewives.  We fly just under the radar, collect coupons using our various clandestine methods, speak our secret codes to one another, and stockpile necessities in our own homes.  A veritable army of hunters and gatherers.

It seemed purposeful and smart - made one feel prepared in the midst of uncertain economic times.  I still can't manage to put anything into a savings account, or invest in a 401k, or even afford health insurance, but I've got extra food and supplies in the basement for whatever hard weeks may come. It's a practical security.  And it comes cheap.

I LOVE that this movement is a serious thing- that there are stockpile price lists, efficiency guides for storage and usage, coupon "lingo" - all backed up by very real need.  I love that even though it's time consuming, it is of real value - value on par with a part-time job. I might not be able to make my family recession-proof, but I can do my part to ease the strain.

One of our favorite foodie bloggers, Arlene from Flour on My Face, offered up a great guest blog idea for the Summer: Sangria recipe! We jumped at the chance for this delectable beverage, which is perfect for 4th of July!

Sangria ingredients with wine.jpg

1 750ml bottle of red wine- I used a 2008 Sterling Vintner's Collection Cabernet Sauvignon
2 lemons sliced
2 tangelos sliced
2 limes, one cut into wedges and one sliced
1 cup strawberries, sliced
3 tbs sugar
6 cups of ginger ale or orange flavored soda
I also added a handful of lemon verbena leaves. You can omit this or add any other lemon flavored herb. Lemon basil would also work well..

Sangria ingredients.jpg

Instructions

The day before you plan on serving the Sangria

Slice or cut the citrus into wedges.
Squeeze the wedges into a large container
Add the citrus slices to the container.
Pour the wine over the citrus.
Add the sugar and lemon verbena leaves.
Stir.
Place the container in the refrigerator over night.
Next day before serving add the strawberries or any other berry you would like to use into the container.

Add the ginger ale or orange flavored soda.

Fruity Sangria.jpg

Stir.
Add ice to a wine glass, scoop some fruit out with a ladle and add to each glass.
Pour some Sangria over the ice
Garnish the edge of the glass with a slice of lemon, lime or orange and enjoy!

You can use any type of fruit you have on hand to make Sangria. Get creative and have fun while enjoying the summer and a delicious ice cold glass of Sangria.

We wanted to provide you with a list of 10 things you can do this summer that are FREE to help your budget, time and maximize that summer fun! The best part is that many of these activities will possibly give you more time together as a family!

Here's a list of 10 ideas of FREE things you can do:

  1. Free fishing - Enjoy FREE fishing days in the month of June and other summer months all across the country meaning that you do not need a fishing license to fish! Check out the list Free Fishing Days 2012 to find out what dates are available in your area.
  2. Find free roller skating across the nation - Wow, this brings back memories from our childhoods! This is a new program and you can check out the list of roller skating rinks that are currently part of the Kids Skate Free program that are participating now. If there is not one in your area, they have a letter already drafter that you can send to your local rink to ask them to participate.
  3. Summer Reading Programs - This is definitely a family favorite as Alex and I remember loving these reading programs at our local library! They are available all over the country from your local libraries to some national chains. You will want to check the list of Kids Summer Reading Programs 2012 for the full list!
  4. Free bowling - There are many great ways to bowl for free across the nation as part of the Kids Bowl Free summer program. Check out the details and locations on the Kids Bowl Free site.
  5. Free summer movies or concerts in the park for the community - Check in your local newspaper, your local city's or county's websites for the calendar of events for the low-down on the community movies and concerts in the park. Plus you may see other ideas or activities going on in your area too!

  8. Home Depot Free kids building workshops - Similar to Lowe's, Home Depot also has a kids free building workshops. You can see their schedule of projects on the Home Depot Kids Free Workshops site.
  9. Don't forget movie night - If you or a friend have a projector and a sheet, schedule a outside movie night and invite your friends! If you want to add a fun dimension to it, if you and your friends chip in you can rent a cotton candy machine; what kid doesn't love cotton candy? :)
  10. Schedule with your friends to have fun playdates throughout the summer - If you or your friends have a trampoline, pool and even a swingset it can be a fun way for the kids to get together and play with your family's summer fun toys while the adults enjoy some time of relaxing as well.

Also, consider summertime a great time to educate your children on the topic of finances and complete the family financial focus worksheet together and learn about the family's budgeting. It can be a good time to get them involved with couponing too! They can learn everything from cutting and counting (for the younger kids) and organizing in groups and categories (for the older kids). There are so many more skills even such as addition/subtraction/fractions/multiplication practice and the challenge of getting as much as they can with the family's grocery budget on items your family would eat (obviously for the older kids on this one!) while at the same time build those life application skills from preschoolers all the way through high school! Plus you will enjoy the help from coupon cutting to grocery shopping trip planning and implementing!

Enjoy these ways to play, learn and have fun over these summer months!

Alex and Cassie run the site The Thrifty Couple but haven't always been thrifty - in fact, after they were first married they racked up over $100K and learned the hard way how to pay it off in seven years. They started their site to share those tips and resources to help you \meet your every financial goal.

Hello lovelies, it's Kristin from BonBon Rose Girls! With Ebates Shoes & Bags Week in full swing, I thought now would be a perfect time to share my favorite summer sandals with you!

kristin2.JPG

I'm sure you've noticed how big a trend neon is this year. I'm no slave to trends, but I do get excited when I love one because that means there will be no shortage of options out there in the old shoposphere.

dolcevita.JPG
When I came across the neon pink DV by Dolce Vita Archer Sandals, I immediately fell in love! I'm currently expecting a little lady bean...In fact, I have only a couple weeks to go until I get to my meet my baby girl, so heels have pretty much been off the table for a while now. I love a killer pair of statement making heels, but, unfortunately, my preggers feet do not. Luckily, my Archer sandals still make a heckuva statement.

From the bold neon hue to the gold details, the Archer is the kind of shoe that gets noticed! You can snag your own pair on sale at Piperlime for $44.99! Did I mention that Ebates is offering 7% cash back at Piperlime right now? Score!

One of my go-to summer recipes is pasta salad.  I can use whatever I have available in the fridge to make it.  I love that it makes a giant bowl - enough for my family of six plus leftovers.  And if I add diced grilled chicken, it's a complete meal that can be packed and taken along for a picnic at the park or at a soccer game.

tiffanypastasala2.jpg

1 lb. any type pasta - I like bowties, but other shapes are just as good
4-6 cups veggies, chopped - try broccoli, asparagus, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers etc.
For the dressing:
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup olive oil
1/3 cup white or red wine vinegar
2 garlic cloves, minced or crushed
1/4 tsp. salt
1 Tbs. Dijon mustard
black pepper
fresh herbs such as basil, parsley, chives, tarragon etc. or use dried

Cook the pasta according to the directions.  Veggies like broccoli can be added to the cooking water during the last few minutes to blanch them.
Drain the pasta and run under cold water to stop the cooking process.
Combine all veggies and pasta in a large bowl.
Whisk all the dressing ingredients together and pour over the salad.  Toss to coat.

Roseann Giannone (Rosey The Coupon Coach) has over 25+ years of experience in teaching families how to save thousands of dollars a year on anything from groceries to travel.  Check out Rosey's blog at www.roseythecouponcoach.blogspot.com or on Facebook

roseysale

1) Buy clothing and shoes off season!  I save up to 90% on our clothing and shoes buying off season.  That means purchasing what we need (or want) at the end of the season and putting it away for the following year. Styles (even designer brands) do not change that drastically from year to year.  Buy a size larger for your children.  Even if they grow quickly and grow over the size you haven't invested that much money in the item to get upset over it. I'm certain you will be able to sell that brand new with tags item at a yard sale or to a friend who will be thrilled to obtain that item for their child at such a great price.  Some stores like Kohl's (13% Cash Back) will accept your returns even up to a year or more old as long as they still have the tags attached and you have your receipt.

2) Get rid of that expensive fancy cell phone plan!  You are throwing away your hard earned money each month paying for that fancy cell phone plan. I dumped ours years ago because we were paying for minutes that we never used.  If you are a big cell phone user then I guess it is worth having the fancy phone and expensive plan but I save a bundle each year using a pay as you go plan like Tracfone!  It cost me about $110.00 per year per cell phone to have cell phone coverage with the latest phone but we are not big users and it works well for our needs.  Tracfone now has a triple minute plan that you can buy and each time you renew your yearly plan you will receive triple minutes.  Ebates merchant Best Buy (1% to 3.6% Cash Back) carries Tracfone phones and plans and the best part is you will get a cash back bonus from this merchant.

veggiegarden.jpg

3) Grow a veggie garden!  Get together with some friends/neighbors and see if they can grow something different so that you can all share in the bounty.  We grow tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, melons and lot's of herbs each year.  Even if you only have the room to grow herbs in pots on your windowsill then do so. Check out the vast selection of seeds and instructional videos that Burpee (7% Cash Back) has to offer.  It's free and a wonderful resource for great deals on seeds and information.

4) Don't purchase items you really don't need.  Make a list and stick to it when you go food shopping. Think twice before purchasing those pink shoes - exactly how many times will you wear pink shoes? Weigh the cost of a repairs vs. new - you would be surprised how much more life you can get out of that washer with a simple repair. If you are handy there is a wealth of information on the internet on how to do your own repairs.  If the project looks too overwhelming then don't tackle it, call a professional but be sure to get an estimate before he starts the work.  Don't trust any of the local professionals? - Join Angie's List (2% to 27.5% Cash Back) it's well worth the small fee you have to pay each year to get the valuable information on her list.  My blog followers are thrilled with their memberships to Angie's List for peace of mind in knowing that no one can pay to be on Angie's List but they have to earn their reputation on the list with A+ ratings from people like you and I.

Want a chance to win $130.00 from Rosey The Coupon Coach and Ebates.com?  Come on over to my Blog and look for the details in a blog post entitled "Exciting News".

The secret's out and we're not afraid to admit it: Americans love their pets. And judging by the nearly $51 billion spent on pets in 2011, we don't mind opening our wallets for Fluffy and Fido.

But as is the case of other areas of life, love comes with the bonus of added expense. Nevertheless, a savvy pet owner can do things to ensure his pet takes only a Chihuahua-size bite out of his wallet...

Save on Pet Health Care

I was happy she was OK, but my ears burned when I heard the news: "She's going to be just fine; the total, including local anesthetic and surgery, comes up to one thousand, eight hundred, ninety-nine dollars and thirty cents." Like me, you undoubtedly would have forked over the plastic in a split second.

Nothing hurts a pet owner quite like Fluffy feeling pain and unfortunately, regardless of whether it's simply the flu, a toothache, or something more serious, a few trips to the veterinarian office can take a Rottweiler-size bite out of your wallet. As I swiped my card, my vet sensed my angst and suggested a pet insurance plan for my now-incredibly-expensive bundle of joy. Pet plans are similar to, but more affordable than, their human health plan counterparts -- for a low monthly rate, your pet is covered for accidents and illnesses.

If you choose to forgo pet insurance, consider a wellness plan. For a small yearly fee, a veterinary office near you may offer a wellness program that takes a percentage discount off your vet visit.

Get a Job, Fido!

One overlooked or even unknown way to help a pet pay its way is by snapping creative, costume-donning pictures of your little ball of fur and entering them in a pet photo contest. In other words: get a job, Fido!

As a proud pet owner, you can wait for that perfect photo-op moment or even dress up your fur baby in a variety of costumes or outfits. In the past, the Martha Stewart Company, Fresh Step Litter company and Purina have held pet photo contests. The winnings are nothing to sneeze (read: bark or meow) at either.

 pup1.PNG

An Ounce of Prevention Beats a Pound of Cure...

Keeping your pet active and trim and maintaining a healthy diet not only potentially adds years to its life, but also cuts down on the possibility of costly vet visits.

In addition to prevention, keep expenses on a tight leash by buying pet food in bulk. To save money on pet medications, purchase prescriptions for your little fuzzy guy or gal online.

Taking care of your pet is important, but so is managing your wallet. Luckily there's plenty of ways to lower costs and make a buck on your pets.

Hello my fellow Ebates lovers! My name is Jessica and I've been blogging over at The Budget Savvy Bride for about 4 years sharing ways to help brides have a beautiful wedding without breaking the bank! One of my favorite tips is to always be a savvy shopper and of course hit up Ebates before making any purchases online. I discovered this site just before my May 2009 wedding and I've been hooked ever since.

Typically on Fridays over at BSB, I like to share some frugal fashion finds with my readers that could be of use on the wedding day by anyone involved in or attending the wedding- from the bride to the groomsmen to the mother of the bride to the guests! It's a great way to incorporate my love for fashion on a budget into the world of weddings! Today I'm going to share some budget-friendly bridesmaid picks with you from Kohl's- one of my favorite places to score great deals!

So here are my picks- I tried to hit some key trends of the season. Some of these dresses come in a variety of colors to choose from as well! (L to R, Top to bottom)

bridesmaids
Casual Option: Apt. 9 Solid Tiered Dress : $32
Silky number: Apt. 9 Accordian Pleat Dress : $32
Ruffles galore: Apt. 9 Ruffle Surplice Wrap Dress : $29.99
Retro style: LC Lauren Conrad Bow Pleated Ponte Dress : $44.80
Chic and stylish: Dana Buchman Pleated Drapeneck Charmeuse Dress : $46.20
Traditional/classic: AB Studio Solid Sheath Dress : $29.99

Can you even believe these prices? Any of these dresses would be great for a bridesmaid and would be something they could totally wear again. (No, really!) And the best part is, they're totally Ebateable! :)

Hey there budget travelers! It's Shereen from Shereen Travels Cheap. Summer is creeping up on us and before you know it, it'll be sunny and the kids will be out of school and you'll realize you haven't starting planning a summer getaway yet. Don't wait until the last minute: Airfare alone can jump as much as 40% during the summer months, so here are some tips to help keep you in the black this year and have an amazing time:

shereenbeach.jpg

Shop for airfare on Tuesday and Wednesday and look for flights that depart on Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday for the lowest fares. New fares are posted every Tuesday and Wednesday are the perfect time to get the best deals, and when you fly on less popular days, you can pay less and have a better chance of not getting bumped off your flight due to overbooking.

Go early. If your kids get out of school sooner the rest of the country, take advantage of your good fortune and vacation before the second week in June. The middle of June through the middle of August is going to be the most expensive time to travel almost anywhere, and the most crowded.

Go somewhere different. Your kids are always going to want to go to theme parks or the beach during the summer, but by changing up your destination, you can actually save a little or a lot of money. If they insist on going to the beach, look for lakeside resorts near where you live. Most still have a beach and everything that goes along with it, unless surfing is on the agenda.

shereenroadtrip.jpg

Drive. Airfare can become a costly burden if there are many of you traveling. If you can spare the extra travel time, take a good old fashioned road trip to get to your destination. Make sure to plan fun stops along the way, like to see the world's biggest ball of yarn, ghost towns or museums.

Plan a staycation. If everything just seems too far out of budget this time of year, opt to do things around your own town and take your vacation over holiday break. Prices will be lower, most destinations will be less crowded and you will be able to see and do more than in the summer.

Don't forget your cash back! Help keep a little money in your pocket or stretch the dollars you have by using Ebates to book your flights, hotel rooms and rental cars. You can even get cash back for buying essentials like sunscreen and shorts!

For more ways to plan an affordable trip, check out my blog, Shereen Travels Cheap, or download my Secrets to Summer Savings eBook for money saving tips you can easily incorporate into any travel preparation.

The days are getting longer and warmer, so you know it's time to start thinking about home improvement projects. I can practically smell the saw dust!

If your "honey-do" list is long, there's no better way to motivate yourself or your honey-doer than by buying some new tools. During Ebates Man Week you can find lots of great deals, especially at Sears and Advance Auto Parts, and get double cash back.

Not sure what to buy? For starters, no home should be without a cordless drill, and if you don't have one yet, I recommend getting a combo-kit that comes with a drill and several other tools that all work off the same rechargeable battery.  I've got this 4-piece Craftsman set at home. It includes a powerful drill, portable light, reciprocating saw and a small circular saw...it's practically a home-remodeling kit.

If you've already got the basics, but are looking for a gift to impress and inspire, try an impact driver. Over the past year or so, these tools have become all the rage. They're similar to cordless drills in terms of what they do, but pack a lot more muscle because of how they do it. Your home pro will wear out before this 19.2 volt Craftsman Impact Driver will.

Now, for the motorhead in the family, nothing beats a good jack. It will bring tears and, probably soon thereafter, a tune-up on the family SUV. Try this Torin 3.5 ton garage jack at Advance Auto Parts.

The approach of spring also means the growth of green, and you'll soon be battling back your lawn and landscaping. Why not trade out your gas-powered weed trimmer for one of the new battery-powered versions? Battery-powered trimmers are convenient, environmentally friendly, and have improved significantly since they first came on the scene a couple years ago, so make sure to check the reviews. Sears is offering a great deal on this Turbo Garden 21.6 volt Lithium Ion model.

As the crisp edge falls off the air this Spring, there are several items we have our sights set on. The colors of the latest fashions this season make me feel like I'm walking through a budding, blooming field of wildflowers, tangerine orange my favorite. Even though bright colors are the name of the game this Spring, you can't go wrong with a few staple items, like the ones I've included on my gotta-have-it list:

PennyFilledPantryImage.JPG

A good denim shirt is a must have for this Spring

Skirts with pockets like this linen one from JCrew.

Everybody needs a casual white tee, I'll take this one from Gap.

Boyfriend blazer, whether you're single or not, from Urban Outfitters.

Colored skinnies like these from Nordstrom.

Leather hobo bag, like this one at Saks that I'd trade any bag in my collection for!

Gladiator sandals because they just go with everything.

Scarves, scarves, scarves, infinity or not, like the ones at Nordstrom.

About A Penny FIlled Pantry
We are a pair of coupon-wielding girls who love a good deal, but we are also suckers for the latest fashions. We are Brittney and Bethany of A Penny Filled Pantry and we teach coupon classes and run www.pennyfilledpantry.com so that we can teach others how to save a little money (or a lot of money). We know that they money we save can be spent on other things or used to give to other people. Let's just say that we coupon so that sometimes we can spend that money we're saving on something cute and bright and colorful... like a pair of colored skinnies or the newest skirt!

Hey everyone, it's Karen from Saving The Family Money.  Many of my readers have asked questions about the new JCPenney's pricing structure.  So I thought I'd take a minute to address those.  If you are not familiar with the new 3-tiered pricing structure, here it is:

  • "Every Day" low pricing daily - Previously what they called sale prices. All merchandise is being cut at least 40 percent or lower, compared t0 the previous year's prices.
  • "Monthly Value" discounts on select merchandise each month for the entire month.  For example: Valentine's Jewelry in February.
  • "Best Price" or clearance deals during the first and the third Friday of each month when many shoppers get paid.  The best price merchandise is considered clearance and is only good while supplies last.
  • They are no longer issuing coupons to use in the store or online.

One of my projects this year is a Master bedroom makeover and the first item I need, as my inspiration, is the bedding.  I found a 7-Piece comforter set at JCPenney's for $100.  With the information on JCPenney's new pricing,  I held off on buying, to see if the price would drop.

ComforterKaren.PNG

I checked JCPenney's on February 1st, (the start date of the new pricing) and my comforter set is now listed at $75.  I think this is a great price for a 7- Piece set (Queen comforter, 2 pillow shams, bedskirt & 3 accent pillows).  In my attempt to save even more on my purchase, I immediately thought of Ebates and their cash back program.  If you shop at JCPenney's through Ebates you get 6% cash back on your purchase.  To me that's like having a coupon and will be an extra $4.50 in my pocket.  Shipping with JCPenney online purchases is always free when you ship to your local store, or free to your home with purchases over $50.

I love knowing that even though a retailer can change their pricing structure, I can count on Ebates and their cash back program to continue to save the family money.

Saving money is sexy-- as long as you master the art of how to cheap out without looking like a cheapskate! Here are a few ideas on how to have an upscale, romantic date without the corresponding out of control price tag.

wine.JPG

Simple and elegant: Romance doesn't require an overpriced French restaurant or a huge, expensive bouquet from a top florist. Under $50 can net you flowers from any of the online florists (you can get a bouquet for as low as $19.99, + delivery, plus get up to 20% cashback with Ebates!) plus an inexpensive bottle of wine, a baguette and a hunk of good cheese-- all that you need for a romantic picnic. If you need assistance picking out a great (but reasonably priced!) bottle of wine, go to WineTasting.com and sort by price, rating or best selling.  You can even order a gift basket which will contain everything you need for your picnic from Wine.com-- and both WineTasting.com and Wine.com offer cashback if you click through Ebates to make a great deal that much sweeter!

Have a romantic night in: If it's too cold to picnic outside where you live, light the fireplace, lay out a blanket, put on some music and have an indoor picnic instead! Don't have a sitter? Put the kids to bed early and either pick up dinner or order in. Light candles, turn off the TV and have a quiet dinner, just the two of you-- even if it's a frozen lasagna, it will taste better by candlelight. Rent a movie for free from your local library or spend $1 to get one from your local Redbox or Blockbuster Express.

Go Local: Take advantage of your local environment. If you're on the coast, grab a picnic and head to the beach for a stroll. If you're in the mountains, grab your skis or snowboard. Explore all that your local area has to offer: museums, walking trails, picnic areas, amusement parks, strawberry picking and more.

Let's do lunch: If you want the restaurant experience but don't want to pay elevated prices go to lunch instead. Many high end restaurants have very affordable lunch specials and the ambiance and service are comparable to what you'll find in the evening.

Score a discount! Sites such as Groupon offers deep discounts on local attractions, spas, salons and restaurants, usually 50% off or deeper-- be sure to click through Ebates to get an additional 3%. cashback at Groupon, too! Restaurant.com offers $25 gift certificates for $10 and you can often find a code bringing your out of pocket cost down to as low as $2, and click through Ebates for 15(!)% cashback-- most restaurants do have some restrictions-- either minimum spending requirements, black out dates or exclusions-- but as long as you can live within the restrictions, you're well on your way to a low cost dinner!

Babysitter Swap: If you can't afford to pay ransom rates for a sitter and don't have family either close or willing to watch your kids, consider a babysitting swap with some like minded friends. It can be as simple as you watch my kids this Saturday night and I'll watch yours next Saturday night, giving each family a much needed and well deserved break from parental duties.

Regardless of your budget, you can have a ton of fun without spending a ton. With just a little bit of ingenuity and smidgen of planning, you can have a hot date with your sweetie without souring your budget.

valentine's_tipsTraditional Valentine's gifts can be fairly pricey. In order to save money, check out these tips for your Valentine's Day purchases.

1. Flowers Don't buy flowers from a flower shop on their busiest day of the year to be delivered to your significant other. Instead, buy flowers from your local grocer, arrange in a vase, decorate with a bow, and deliver the flowers yourself.

2. Chocolates Instead of buying an expensive box of chocolates, buy your love's favorite candy bar and wrap it in a pretty bow.

3. Homemade Desserts Try making some homemade Valentine's treats and desserts, such as chocolate covered strawberries. These types of goodies are easy to make and are a lot less expensive than traditional boxed chocolates.

4. Cards Sure, it's easier to buy a card from the store, but homemade cards are more endearing and are a great way to save money while still being romantic. Write or copy a poem, or get your kids involved for a fun Valentine's craft.

5. Jewelry Skip on the diamonds and go for colored gems, such as rubies or emeralds or even moissanite stones, if you want to save money on jewelry. Check out eBay and pawn shops to find the best deals.

Hey ya'll!  It's Kasey from Time 2 $ave!  I'm so excited to stop by today to share a message that is near and dear to our hearts.

First, you might be surprised to hear -we don't LOVE COUPONS. We don't wake up every morning excited to cut up coupons or jump on every deal that we can find. Simply put - couponing just happened to be the tool that brought hope to our family's finances. Most importantly it has afforded us the incredible opportunity to give into the lives of others in ways we never imagined.

When I say giving I'm not referring to giving just at Thanksgiving or Christmas.  You see, as we learned how to coupon effectively a light came on one day.  Every week there are items that are free or nearly free at grocery stores and drug stores.  What if we started looking for items each week specifically to give?  We began to look beyond our own family's needs for opportunities to bless others.

kaseyimage

Now, we have become purposeful givers.  It has become a lifestyle that is just as important to us as shopping for our family's needs.

To give you an idea how much of an influence you can be I've listed items just from yesterday's posts that would make great donation items.

Homemade Pumpkin Pie

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.  I love cooking and baking so I look forward to the big feast for months. Planning the big meal isn't very hard. Only a few of the dishes I make change. It is a given that there will be turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, and pumpkin pie. I've been baking Pumpkin Pie for a long time!

Some of the side dishes may change.  There may be a new dessert or two but those three dishes are guaranteed to be served for Thanksgiving dinner at my house.

Matter of fact even if I was the only one in my family who ate it, pumpkin pie would be there. To me it just wouldn't be Thanksgiving without pumpkin pie for dessert.

My pumpkin pie recipe is pretty much a standard pumpkin pie recipe except for one ingredient. This ingredient has been my little secret for a long time. I've never seen it used in any other recipe.  I'm not sure how I came to add it to the recipe. It may have been an accident. Or I could have made a mistake when I went grocery shopping and picked it up on accident. It's been so long since I started adding it to my pumpkin pie I honestly can't remember how it came to be. But it adds a depth of flavor to the recipe that turns ordinary pumpkin pie into an amazing pumpkin pie. Don't believe me? Try it yourself and don't tell anyone and see how many compliments you get!

This recipe makes two nine inch deep dish pies. Eat one at Thanksgiving and tightly wrap the other one in plastic wrap and freeze it to get a head start on your Christmas baking. If you don't need two pies you can half the recipe.

Amazing Pumpkin Pie

Makes 2 nine inch deep dish pies

2 unbaked pie shells

1- 29 ounce can of pumpkin or

4 cups of fresh pumpkin

1 ½ cups of sugar

2 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp salt

1 tsp ground ginger

½ tsp ground cloves

4 large eggs, slightly beaten

1 can evaporated milk

1 can sweetened condensed milk

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees

  • Prepare your pie crusts. You can use homemade or store bought, the choice is yours.

  • Add the sugar, spices and salt to a large bowl and whisk until the spices are evenly distributed.

  • Beat the eggs in a small bowl with a fork and set aside.

  • Add the pumpkin, evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk to the large bowl with the sugar mixture.

  • Pour the eggs in the bowl.

  • Beat on low speed for 2 to 3 minutes until everything is combined.

  • Evenly divide the mixture between the two pie crusts.

Bake for 15 minutes on 450 degrees. After 15 minutes lower the oven temperature to 350 degrees and bake for 45 to 55 minutes until the center is solid. A tooth pick inserted into the center should come out clean.

Remove from oven and cool on a rack for 2 hours. Serve after cooling or cover and refrigerate.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Black Friday is coming up in just a few short weeks on Friday November 25th followed by Cyber Monday, November 28th.  While Black Friday has been traditionally known as the day that people head into the stores for the best deals, that has definitely been changing in the last year or two. More & more retailers are matching the prices of their in-store Black Friday deals online & some stores are even offering better deals online than you will find in the stores.

If you'd rather avoid the crowds & stay in your comfy pajamas to do your Christmas shopping on Black Friday, then make sure you're prepared with these simple tips for shopping online.

1.  Make a plan  - Write out a list of all the people you need to buy gifts for this Christmas season & then write down possible gift ideas.  Then set a budget for how much you want to spend per person. I keep all of this on a Microsoft Word document so I can easily update it & find it quickly when I'm shopping online. I also keep a copy of my list in my purse, so I have those ideas at all times when I'm out shopping in the stores.

2.  Do your research & scout out the prices - Once you have some ideas of what you're looking for, head to the stores or start comparing prices online to get an idea of the range of prices for that particular item. This really comes in handy for online shopping because deals can go very quickly & you don't want to buy items on impulse & then overspend because it sounded like a great deal at the time.

Utilize Smartphone Apps - There are a number of great apps for the deal hunter.  Red Laser is an example of an app that is a barcode scanner. Just scan the barcode on a product you're interested in & it will tell you where you can find the best price.

3.  Get in the Know - Sign up for your favorite retailers' email newsletters, "like" their Facebook Fan pages & follow them on Twitter. This is one of the best ways to find out about early shopping passes, special discount codes, free shipping offers & more.

4. Use Gift Cards to Make Purchases Online - Many retailers offer special gift card promotions during the holidays (eg: Spend $20 on gift cards, earn an extra $5).  When you spot a deal like this, you'll get that extra savings that the store is offering plus it's a safer way to shop online & it helps you to stay on track with your spending.

5. Earn cash-back on your online purchases - My last but favorite tip is to do all your online shopping thru Ebates, where you will automatically be earning cash-back on your purchases.  Head over to Ebates now & make a list of all your favorite retailers & the percentage of cash-back you will earn. Keep that in mind when you are considering the differences in price for gifts, especially on those larger-ticket items, because that cash-back can definitely make a difference in the retailer where you choose to shop. Ebates also offers a number of coupon codes & free shipping offers, so not only you will be getting cash-back when you start your shopping at Ebates, you will also find the best deals available.

Hopefully these tips will help you to get prepared for the busy rush of online shopping on Black Friday & Cyber Monday.

holidaytravel_1Summer has barely ended and you're probably still getting over your last family vacation, but it's never too early to start looking ahead to your next trip, especially if you want to keep costs within a budget. Fall is the perfect time to start thinking about the holidays and planning a trip to visit family or have an excuse for why you can't make it this year. Why not take the kids to Disneyland on Christmas or arrange a low-key Hawaiian holiday? With a few handy tips and the use of participating Ebates Travel Stores, you can save more than you spend.

Book as soon as possible - When traveling around the holidays, the further out you can book, the better. The closer it gets to Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve the higher the prices for everything will creep, even if you aren't flying until February.

Visit Busy Summer Destinations - By doing the opposite of what everyone else is doing, you can get fantastic deals. While most people are visiting relatives, you can fly and stay cheaply in destinations like Cairo, Rome, San Francisco or even the Bahamas.

Go South - It may be cold here in North America, but countries in the Southern Hemisphere are having spring and summer. This makes them ideal locales to get away from it all. Just remember to pack your sunscreen!

Travel on Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday - These tend to be the days that are the most affordable to fly on, because fewer people travel mid-week or at the start of the weekend. This means that airfare is lower and the airports (and flights) are usually less crowded. Even flying on a holiday can save you money.

Have you noticed? Fall is in the air!

While I haven't made the big switch in my closet yet, I've been loving the shorter days, crisper air and heartier foods that have started to emerge as of late.

Call me crazy, but I'm one of the few people I know who prefers a cool, cloudy day over a hot & sunny day! There's just something so comforting about being able to finally layer your clothes to take a hike (or pirate walk in our family) with your kids outside and then run inside to cuddle under a blanket and drink hot cocoa! After all, you can always put more clothes on, but there's only so many you're allowed to take off!

samiconecorrect.JPG

Ok, so I guess when it comes down to it, a lot of my favorite things about fall revolve around family and fashion. And as a frugal girl, I love Ebates when it comes to stocking up on fall fashion finds! Not only can I shop my family's favorite stores like Gap & Old Navy through Ebates, but I make my budget happy with that extra cash back bonus :) That means that I get to spend more time enjoying the cool weather with my husband and kids because of my smart online shopping, but we also get to do more because I'm able to keep more money in our pockets! What's not to love about Fall?!

I just love this time of year, the trees are changing colors, the apples and pumpkins are ready to pick, and we can't forget all the great baking for Fall and Halloween. Candy Corn is a long time favorite of many people, our family included. Last year I made Homemade Candy Corn, and let me tell you, it's amazing! It takes a little work, but it's totally worth it!

What's the next best thing to Candy Corn? Well...Candy Corn Cookies of course!

liz1correct.JPG

I changed a recipe I found in the Taste of Home Baking Book for Boneyard Cookies, added a little orange coloring and dipped the ends in white and yellow chocolate. And to send the Candy Corn Cookies over the top...I added some Apricot Preserves in the middle and made them into Candy Corn Cookie Sandwiches!

Candy Corn Cookie Sandwiches Recipe:

1 cup powdered sugar {confectioners' sugar}
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
2 cups flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
4-6 drops of orange coloring {depending on how bright you want the cookies}
Apricot Preserves
White Almond Bark
Yellow Wilton Candy Melts
Instructions:

In a large bowl, combine the powdered sugar and cornstarch
Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each egg
Beat in the extract
Combine the flour and salt
Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture, mix well
Add the orange coloring, mix well
Divide dough in half, wrap in plastic and place in fridge to chill at least 1 hour
Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
After dough is chilled, remove from fridge and roll out onto a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick
Cut with a Candy Corn shape cookie cutter
Place on a cookie sheet and bake for about 6-8 minutes
After the cookies are cooled, spread Apricot Preserves on one cookie and top with another
Melt white almond bark in microwave for about 30 seconds, stir until smooth
Dip the tip of the cookie sandwich in chocolate, let excess drip off and place on wax paper to set
Repeat process for yellow ends
Enjoy!

I love the Fall.  Love the Fall.  Did I mention that Autumn is my favorite season?  The air turns crisp (or if you live in Southern CA, crisp compared to the summer), the leaves turn amazing, spectacular colors (but if you live in Southern CA, you might have to wait until December or January for the wonderful bursts of color), and it seems like everyone instinctively knows that NOW is the TIME to enjoy the outdoors.

angie1.JPG angie3.JPG

I've lived in the North East and the North West, which just might be where my love of Fall was solidified.  The leaves, oh the leaves and the colors they burst forth every Autumn left me running for the window every morning first thing when I woke up just to see how they changed over night.  Now that I live in Southern CA where we don't really have traditional seasons, I still find myself searching the trees for that burst of color that lets me know that Autumn has arrived.

angie2.JPG

My love of Fall comes with a few traditions, and Fall just wouldn't be Fall without doing these 6 Fun Activities:

1.  Take a Drive and look at the Fall Foliage.  There is nothing like driving through Fall Foliage  and stopping off for a treat!

2.  Go Apple Picking.  All across the country, I think that every family should be flocking to apple orchards.  It's such a fun way to spend the day, and a wonderful way to show kiddos and adults alike what it's like to pick one's own apples, and not from the grocery store bin. either.  Once you've got those apples home, well, the sky is the limit.  Apple sauce, apple crisp, apple pie?  So many yummy things can be made with apples.  Add a little cinnamon  and it's officially a Fall treat!

3.  Enjoy local corn mazes:  Growing up I never experienced a corn maze.  I missed out.

4.  Hop on your bike and go for a ride:  The temperature is usually perfect for a nice ride and what can be better than enjoying the great outdoors on a leisurely bike ride?  It's scenic and good for you!  Plus, the kids love it.

5.  Make a pumpkin pie from scratch:  Use a real pumpkin, not canned puree and see how much fun it can be.  Be warned though, it takes a bit more time.

6.  And last but not least, go shopping:  It's a great time to find deals on end of summer clear outs, plus the holidays are right around the corner.  The holiday money crunch is a whole lot better when you spread the buying out over the course of a few months!  Don't forget to use Ebates for cash back on your purchases and to find additional deals to maximize your spending power!

Bio:  Angie is a word loving, book devouring, designer jean obsessed mama to 5. She's also a sunshine hoarding, organizationally devout, stringer of letters, words and paragraphs, who loves a great deal.  She writes about her tales of motherhood, otherwise known as "tales from under the big top" at Seven Clown Circus.

Hot on the heels of the Emmy fashion red carpet parade, Kmart has announced Sofia by Sofia Vergara Collection.  You know you were waiting for the sexy star of modern family to come out with some reasonably priced lingerie, weren't you?  So what can you expect from this collection? A quick scan of Kmart.com shows me that the Sofia collection includes animal print T-shirts ($16.99), sweater-knit miniskirts ($24.99), a lace-sleeved knit dress ($36.99) and double-zip faux leather jackets ($59.99).  There's also an attention getting a leopard-print dress with corset style bodice  (pictured above on Sofia for $44.99).  It's all a bit tarty.  I'm not sure it's worthwhile as I haven't seen any of it, but the prices are in the lower range, (most pieces under $40.00.)

I think it's interesting that the line hits stores about the same time as J Lo's clothing line hits Kohl's stores. Apparently, you can't have too many discount TV diva lines for sale.   What do you think readers? Are you jonesing for some Sofia from Kmart?

Does your bra really fit? Or do you sit at work all day and dream of running home, ripping it off and burning your bra in a blaze of fury and elastic? An astounding 90% of women in America wear a bra that's not a perfect fit--whether it's the wrong size, cup shape, or material--because they're forced to settle for whatever they can find at their local stores. Limited sizes, messy racks and pushy sales staff make bra shopping a nightmare--until now. The perfect fit does not come from a rack.

freshpair2.jpg

If you've been lucky enough to get fit at some point, you probably felt like a million bucks for a while, but let's face it ladies--bra sizes change like the tides. You could have gained/lost weight, had a baby, had breast enhancement/reduction surgery, lived life and BAM!,those wonderful bras don't fit anymore. While it's easier to shop for bras nowadays, that doesn't mean it's gotten any easier to know which bra to buy.

We have some advice up our sleeves, but first we want to hear from you! Let us know, what is the number one thing you look for when finding the right fitting bra? Are you looking for the perfect cup enhancement? Are you looking for no-slip straps? Are you looking to minimize your cup size? Etc.

We will choose one lucky winner from your submissions to receive a $30 gift card to use at Freshpair.com!

Oh, and that advice up our sleeves? That's our new At Home Bra Fitting program. It's a brand new way to shop for bras that guarantees a perfect fit every time, and it's free! Happy Fashion Week lovelies! Kristin from BonBon Rose Girls here. Right now New York City is chock full of fashionistas either going to the shows are simply reveling in the electric atmosphere at Lincoln Center. Just a few days ago, I was a part of that crowd!

Kristin1correct.JPG

I had the pleasure of attending the Project Runway finale show on Friday. I cover Project Runway for Lifetime Moms and being able to see the collections that the remaining designers put together was an incredible experience!

Kristin2.JPG

We don't know who is in the finale as all nine remaining designers showed, but I think I could definitely hazard a good guess at this point. If Olivier doesn't make it to the end, I'll be shocked. Just sayin'!

I also managed to squeeze in a lovely dinner date with some fellow bloggers, after which I attended the Bloggers Night Out event. And let me tell you something...bloggers can DRESS y'all!
kristin3.JPG
I not only took away loads of fashion inspiration from my time at Lincoln Center, but seeing all the style bloggers decked out in their insanely cool ensembles put a few ideas in my head as well!

I have one word for you...leopard. I saw leopard prints EVERYWHERE! Luckily, animal prints have been a long time favorite of mine, so I already have a ton of it in my wardrobe. It was even the subject of my last guest post for Ebates!

Kristin4.JPG

I only wish I could have spent more than a couple days in the Big Apple this time around, so I could have soaked up more trends. Luckily, February and another New York fashion week is only five months away!

Being a budget traveler doesn't have to mean that you vacation on a shoestring budget and stay with locals in a mud hut. Budget traveling is about having a great time and doing more while spending overall. You can do this by finding discounts on nearly everything and also changing some of the ways you travel. One of the easiest ways to save money is to change the way you pack. By packing everything you need in a carry-on, you can save up to $35 each way, because you won't have to pay steep bag-check fees. Saving on your flight won't make a difference if you have just shelled out $70 for your bag to fly, too. You don't need to bring everything you own to look good. Here are some simple ways to pack less and keep those steep fees from breaking your budget.

Shereen.JPG

Mix and match - Bring enough clothes to last 5-7 days, but make sure it is all within the same color pallet, so that all bottoms coordinate with all tops. This way you can wear a variety of combinations and always have a new outfit you can pull out.

Limit yourself to two pairs of shoes - This is probably one of the rules women struggle with the most, but really, with so many great comfortable shoes on the market, there's no way you can't do it. Bring a wedge sandal for dressing up or going to dinner and a pair of good walking shoes for hiking and sightseeing. Wear the bulkiest ones on the plane and save space.

Accessorize! - Dress up that sundress or plain tank for a night on the town by adding some fun jewelry, a belt or a scarf. It'll turn your (probably-not-so) drab outfit into a fab one!

Bring items that multitask - This is a must. Items like a dress that is also a skirt or a beach cover-up that can be worn as a fun tunic are fantastic double-duty pieces. Even your iPad can be a multitasker. Use it to play games, listen to music, watch movies, answer your emails and as a laptop. One device, many functions.

Pare down your beauty products - How many times have you brought your entire bathroom and not used half of it? Bring the essentials and then toss in a few small things to give yourself a little oomph for a night out. Maybe a metallic eyeliner or a small pallet to give you a gorgeous smoky eye. And if you've got to bring your blow dryer or flat iron, downsize them by purchasing travel-size versions to keep in your bag at all times.

Travel lighter and more affordably. Make your friends jealous that you saved so much on your vacation and also can pack like a pro. If you need some extra help, find everything you need from merchants on Ebates to help you save even more. From carry-on bags to makeup, you can get cash back on it all.

Hi there, it's Kristin from BonBon Rose Girls! I'm stopping by today to share with you a fall 2011 trend that I'm loving, leopard prints.

At Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC this year, a favorite show that I attended was Rebecca Minkoff. She sent a spectacular leopard pant suit down the runway that made me fall in love with animal prints even more than I already was! I didn't even think that was possible!

08_08_km6

In my world, leopard prints don't even qualify as a trend because I tend to bring them out every year. For me, leopard is almost a neutral and as timeless as a red pout or mani.

If animal prints intimidate you and you aren't quite ready to go all out with a leopard pant suit, for instance, stick to small pops of visual interest in accessory form. A great pair of leopard heels or a bag can go a long way! I found all these pieces at my regular shopping haunt Nordstrom. If you just have to snag one or more of them, use Ebates and you'll earn 5% cash back!

So, what fall trends are you looking forward to sporting this year?

Whether it's from the extra rest and relaxation, time in the sun, or even being a bride - summer is when you radiate a natural glow. We've pulled together a few simple beauty tips that can help you maintain your radiance all season long.

Plus we want to hear from you: How do you stay Summer Beautiful? We'll select an answer to win a gift basket of Elizabeth Arden products worth over $350.

One of our favorite things about summer is spending time outside, soaking up the sun...but not too much of it. Love the sun, but protect yourself from its negative effects. Using a facial moisturizer with sunscreens is your first line of defense against skin damaging UV rays. Environmental factors, such as pollution and cigarette smoke can also be harmful to your skin. Idebenone, the powerful antioxidant found in PREVAGE® Day Ultra Protection Anti-aging Moisturizer SPF 30, helps to guard your skin against all of these skin stressors while also supporting its natural repair process to address  any existing damage.

Playing up your pout is a great way to feel dressed up on days when it's too hot to wear much makeup. To get lovely lips that last, apply a lip primer with SPF protection like our Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick SPF 15. Then layer on a lipstick in one of this season's on-trend bright shades, like coral or pink.

You can accentuate your glow by adding a touch of blush to the apples of your cheeks. A peachy shade, like our Pure Finish Mineral Powder Cheekcolor in Sunkissed Coral, will give you a soft, natural flush.

SummerGlow

Today only, you'll get Double Cash Back when you shop at ElizabethArden.com through Ebates, so "get glowing!" To enter to win the Elizabeth Arden Summer Glow Giveaway, submit your answer to "How do you stay Summer beautiful?" in the comments of this post or on the Ebates Facebook wall before Friday July 29 at 11:59 PM PST. Check back here on Monday when we'll post the "glowing" winner!

GuavacolorSince it's health and beauty week here at Ebates, I thought now would be a great time to share my favorite summer lip color! In seasons past, I was pretty conservative when it came to my make up. You wouldn't have caught me wearing any super bright hues. That changed forever when I discovered Bobbi Brown's Cosmic Raspberry. Cosmic Raspberry is a pink so bright you gotta wear shades! I rocked that color proudly all Spring long, that is until Bobbi Brown's Guava Lip Color came into my life.

I dare you to find a lipstick that's a more perfect combination of coral and pink. Guava instantly brightens my smile and I've seen it work on a variety of skin tones. In my humble opinion, coral and Summer go hand in hand. So, if you're going to purchase one new lip color this summer, I urge you to make it Bobbi Brown's Guava! And if you purchase it through Ebates, you'll earn 4.0% cash back. So, what are you waiting for?

While we're on the subject of beauty, I hope you'll join BonBon Rose Girls for a live health and beauty chat over at the Savvy Living Community on 6/23 from 7-8 PM EST! We'll be chatting about all things health and beauty related and some fabulous prizes will be up for grabs too! Mark your calendars lovelies!

travelsizedToday's guest blogger is Shereen from Shereen Travels Cheap. We've love her no-nonsense advice on traveling smart while on a budget, and we're thrilled to have her dish out advice on another savvy topic: travel and beauty.

Packing light is a must when traveling and those 3-1-1 bags aren't that big, especially when you're flying during the summer and have to squeeze sunscreen in there, too. While you can buy it once you get there, many resorts, theme parks and grocery stores have outrageous prices on these items. I have ways you can find room in your travel bag for sunscreen and still look great in all your pictures.

Tinted Moisturizer - You may be used to taking your foundation wherever you go, but a tinted moisturizer can do double-duty as a foundation and a moisturizer. Most have built-in SPF, so you don't have to bring a second sunscreen specifically for your face.

Powder Foundation - Avoid taking two products and opt for just one with a powder foundation. Not only does it save space, but a good one, like Philosophy Supernatural Airbrushed Canvas, will be long-lasting and give you a flawless finish over your moisturizer. This can be paired with tinted moisturizer to give you more coverage.

Tinted Lip Gloss - Get a fresh summery look by bringing along a tinted lip gloss that also moisturizes. Leave your heavy lipstick at home and you also won't have to tote around a tube of lip balm. Smashbox O-Gloss brings out the natural hue of your lips, plus it gives you a slight shine and locks in moisture.

Trial Sizes - Those fun trial sizes that you get with makeup purchases are your best friend on vacation. Save those tiny tubes of mascara, lip glosses, and eye shadows, and pack them in your travel bag.

Shampoo bars - Shampoo and conditioner can take up a lot of room and also contribute the most to spillage in your bag. There's nothing worse than getting to your destination and having to wash off everything in your 3-1-1 bag because your shampoo or conditioner exploded. Shampoo bars don't ever have to go in your liquids bag, they never spill and are super easy to use. They work just like a bar of soap and have all the benefits of a great shampoo. You can even get solid conditioners which will leave your hair silky and manageable.

Use Ebates to save even more on your beauty purchases, too. With awesome stores like Sephora, Philosophy, Ulta, Drugstore.com and many more, you can find everything you need for your trip, look like a million bucks, and save a few dollars, too!

Today's guest blog comes from one of my favorite male bloggers, Zack. Zack heads CouponDad.net, and is the authority on why coupon's aren't just for the ladies.

Come on we're MEN. We don't use coupons. We drink beer out of the bottle, and not those little fruity drinks with the umbrellas. We watch action packed, blood and gut movies... not those mushy "chick flicks". We are men. We don't use coupons. We like paying FULL price. Oh wait, do we?

Makes you think doesn't it? I will be the first to tell you that when it comes to money and paying for purchases, I too have an ego. Using coupons is an ego blow and a pride squasher because our ego and pride wants us to prove our selves successful. We can take care of our family with out the help of a measly piece of paper. Besides, what's $.50 right? We are MEN (insert grunts and growls here)!!

What if I told you that I save over $12,000 per year just on groceries using coupons? I'm not talking "extreme couponing" either. Just using a coupon for the groceries I buy. That's not to mention the cash back I earn through sites like Ebates.com. Aside from using coupons for food, I also save on things like clothing, entertainment, oil changes, travel, and electronics. Doesn't sound so measly now does it?
BMW
So in 5 years with my coupon savings (the average length of an auto loan), I could pay for a BMW 528i with a 3.0L DOHC 24-valve I6 engine. How's that for manly? So in my opinion, using coupons shows not only intelligence, but that you are fiscally responsible too!

Use these money saving websites:Coupon Dad and Ebates.

Now that it's St.Patrick's Day at Ebates, we thought everyone could use the luck of the Irish, or at the very least a fun craft inspired by St. Patrick's Day. That's why we asked today's guest blogger Angie from The Country Chic Cottage to share one of her favorite crafts. Enjoy!

countrychiccottageHello everyone, I'm Angie. My love for sprucing up my home on a budget gave birth to The Country Chic Cottage, a blog dedicated to thrifty decor and crafting ideas. Today I'm excited to blog for Ebates and share one of my newest crafts dedicated to St.Patrick's Day. First let me preface by saying I am not a huge Saint Patrick's Day person, and kelly green (the green of St.Patrick's Day) isn't really my color. Despite this, I challenged myself to come up with an idea that was Irish themed, but saved me from excessive green.

stpattysdayThis craft is super easy, even your kids can help! Here's what you need

Freezer Paper (find it near aluminum foil in your grocery store)

Exacto Knife

Scissors or Craft Cutter

Iron

Fabric Paint

Simply cut out your pattern using an exacto knife, scissors, or a craft cutter. Next you'll need to iron your stencil, including those little center pieces that fall out when you cut them. After that paint over your stencils, peel the freezer paper off, and let dry. My daughter is very into peace signs and this seemed like the perfect St.Patty's Day t-shirt for her. All it took was a few supplies, and a bit of imagination.

I hope you will stop by The Country Chic Cottage for a visit and even more great tutorials!  Thanks so much for having me here on ebates!

We're kicking off Travel Week with our favorite travel blogger Shereen from Shereen Travels Cheap. She gives her tips on how to get the vacation you want, without breaking the bank!

Planning a vacation doesn't have to be daunting, and saving money doesn't automatically mean you have to go camping or stay in shady hotels. Here are some ways to stretch your travel dollars and get the most for your money.

offseasonTravel In The Off Season. If you aren't restricted to Summer travel, you can save big by vacationing during the rest of the year. Prices on hotels and airfare drop dramatically after summer months and destinations are notably less crowded. Spring can be a great time to travel to beach destinations, if they are on your wish list. You can find big discounts and the weather isn't too hot to enjoy.

packlightPack Light. With airlines charging for everything from a sandwich to Internet access, it's hard to avoid fees if you're not prepared. One of the biggest is checked bag fees. You could pay $25 or more (each way) for your bag to travel under the plane. There are many stylish and versatile travel clothing brands now that people wouldn't even know were made for travel. With breathable and wrinkle-free fabrics, a few key pieces can be mixed and matched to create a whole week of outfits and take up half the space. Wear a pair of shoes on the plane and pack a pair in your bag. Bring jewelry and other accessories to dress up an outfit for a night out.

bookonlineCheck Prices On Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. The new rates for airfare are published on Tuesday/Wednesday and then again on Saturday, for those that wait to book things on the weekend. Tuesday and Wednesday will almost always have the cheapest rates, but if you have some time before you have to book, get up bright and early and check prices on Saturday. Every so often you will find a super cheap rate that was put into the system incorrectly that you can snatch up before the error is caught. It doesn't happen often, but when it does it's a total bargain for you.

citypassBuy A City Pass. Most tourist cities have a card you can buy for attractions they have to offer. You pay one discounted price and then skip the ticket lines everywhere you go on the list of participating attractions. These can include aquariums, museums, theme parks, and more.

publictransportationTake Public Transportation. While it doesn't always seem fun to take the bus or subway, it can be a cheap mode of transportation and a great way to see a city. Taxis and rental cars can really break the bank, so if other reliable options are available, look for them. I find public transit to be much more enjoyable when I don't have to take it to work or be anywhere at a particular time. It gets you out in the fresh air and lets you get some exercise by having to walk more.

As you can see, saving money can actually allow you to do more on your vacation and see more of the city, while slowing down and being able to enjoy it. Remember to check Ebates for even more savings, because they offer cash back on many of the best Travel Stores online!

Average ParentToday's Guest Blogger is The Average Parent. Although most of the country is under snow and/or freezing temperatures, Spring is around the corner. Join The Average Parent as she gives her tips on how to shop for Spring without breaking the bank.

Here in the Midwest, we've been experiencing a bit of a heat wave. That's right, it's 45 degrees today! While it's still February, this break in temperature has got me thinking about Spring and the beginning of another shopping season for my kids. Although I have two boys, I still put a lot of effort into making sure they look extra cute. But, because they're boys, I understand they must be able to play in their clothes. Below are my favorite tricks to finding the hottest fashions for the best prices.

Online Clearance Racks - I dread the idea of picking through clearance racks for the perfect shirt. Instead, once the boys are in bed, I head online to find the best deals. Ideal places to look include Kohl's, Target, Macy's and JCPenney.

Second Hand - eBay can be a super convenient resource for finding gently-used clothing. The site allows you to sort your search by size, brand, price and more.

Coupons, Coupons, Coupons - Before you shop, check out Ebates for printable coupons and online discount codes. If you can't find a coupon online, many retailers will send you one just for signing up for their email alerts.

Get Cash Back - When shopping online, always start with Ebates. Membership is completely FREE and you can earn anywhere from 1-30% cash back at more than 1,200 stores.

Join a Rewards Program - If you have a favorite retailer, inquire about a free rewards program that will give you store credit for shopping in their store.

Store Credit Cards - A store card can get you free shipping or save you as much as 10% off your purchases. But, it's not worth it if you don't pay it off before interest begins accumulating.

Today's guest blogger is Sell Your Gold. As Ebates continues to expand, we say hello to new stores, and new ways to save you money. Here's one more example of how you can earn cash back on everything!

Sell Your GoldWe all have it; a jewelry box filled with mismatched earrings, broken watch links, out of style pendants, and the like. With Valentine's Day around the corner, many of us will add to our jewelry collection, and continue to overlook these items. Seems like no big deal, but did you know you have a gold mine in your jewelry box?

Thanks to the price of gold near an all time high, many of us have begun to rethink our jewelry collection. In fact the trend is so popular The Today Show recently did a cash for gold undercover investigation comparing several companies, including Sell Your Gold which was ranked #1.

SYG

How does it work?

Sell Your Gold pays up to 90% for old gold, platinum, luxury watches, fine jewelry, and diamonds over 1 carat. Simply order a free appraisal kit and mail your old jewelry. You'll receive a check in the mail.

In addition to that, you're able to track the process from the moment FedEx picks up your items until the moment you are paid. If you are unhappy for any reason, all you have to do is call or e-mail us and we will return the items via FedEx at our expense. In addition to that, you'll receive 3.0% Cash Back when you use Ebates to order your free kit.

This Valentine's Day, while you're shopping for jewelry for your loved ones, take a second to think about what's currently in your jewelry collection. If you have unworn or undesirable items, why sit on them when you can get paid cash?

Well it's officially that time of year. The time when we make our resolutions. Most of the time we start off with amazing intentions only to forget them a few months later. At least that's how I roll. This year however, I am determined to live a healthier lifestyle! Let's face it, when we're active and feeling confident with ourselves, clothes are SO much more fun to wear. Speaking of clothes, if you read my blog, BonBon Rose Girls, you know I'm ALL about fashion!

Sticking to my resolution should give me the confidence to rock some of the bold trends that are heading our way this Spring. Think neon and stripes. Not for the meek right? Here's a snapshot of the trends I look forward to wearing, and feeling great in this Spring.

Chevron SkirtBold Stripes
This Chevron Skirt from White House Black Market is a bold mix of black and white, one of Spring 2011's top trends. Looking good in a striped skirt requires a disciplined health regime, which means my trips to the gym may have to increase to 5x a week.

Neon has been a staple in Spring wardrobes the past few years, and this year proves no different. With the 70's a major influence this Spring, neon has taken a subdued part and can be seen mainly in accessories. This neon watch from Nine West is just the right amount of neon and will go with the other item on my healthy check list: toned arms.

What trends will you be wearing this Spring?

Edible WreathToday's guest blogger is also from the Frugal Living Community. Melissa from Saving Cents With Sense. Enjoy!

One of our family traditions has been to make edible Christmas wreaths each holiday season. Not only are they fun to make (and eat!), but they make nice gifts for friends or family. Plus, they are easy enough for the kids to help.

Ingredients:

Box of Cornflakes
16 ozs of Marshmallows (1 bag)
1/2 butter
Green Food Coloring
Red Hot Candies

Instructions:

1. Melt butter and rarshmallows in microwave stirring every minute until marshmallows are completely dissolved.

2. Add green food coloring to melted mixture - stir in until you reach color desired for wreath.  (Approx. 2 TBLS)

3. Pour hot melted mixture over Cornflakes. Stir quickly to coat all cereal.

4. Pour mixture over buttered bowl(s) - let fall in shape of wreath.

5. Place red hot candies around the wreath while hot, to look like berries.

6. Place one candy cane on each side of wreath.

7. Put bow at top if wanted. Remove bowl from center after partially cooled.

8. Optional: Fill center with goodies (cookies, candy, etc).

Enjoy your wreath and have a very happy holiday!

You've heard of destination weddings. Well, why let the newlyweds have all the fun? You deserve a celebration of your own and that can come in the form of a destination holiday. With the holidays coming up, for many of us, it means travel. Either we travel to visit relatives or we take advantage of Winter break to get a change of scenery. With the travel industry still in a slump, it's easier than ever to get great deals on airfare, lodgings and more. With the money you can save, your gift to your family could be going on a destination holiday this year. Here are just a few ways you can go about making holiday travel affordable.

onlinebookingBook Your Travel In Winter
Fall and Winter is the cheapest time to fly almost anywhere, but it's especially true if you want to visit the UK or Europe. Fly on Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday for even better prices on airfare. Shops, museums and attractions will be open shorter hours than usual, but there will be fewer crowds, making it easier to see everything you want in less time.

hoteldiscountsTake advantage of rewards programs.
Look for hotel sites that offer incentives for booking through them. At Hotels.com and HotelClub.com you can earn free nights and cash off your next stay just by booking with them. With price-matching and no-fee cancellation policies, you're completely protected should you find a lower price elsewhere, or have to put off your vacation for any reason.

vacationrentalRent a house or condo to save money on food.
Make as many meals as you want on your own and your budget will stretch that much further. A fully stocked kitchen will really aid you in keeping dollars in your pocket. You can pop into a local grocer and buy enough food for breakfasts for a week for just about the same cost as going out for breakfast in a restaurant just once. Aside from the convenience of having your own kitchen, you have all the comforts of home, which usually includes cable and WiFi, and you aren't confined to just one room with beds and a bathroom.

travelFly on Christmas Day to avoid crowds.
This is one of the least expensive days to fly all year, because most people traveling for the holidays want to be at their destination before December 25th. Also remember to pack less as baggage fees can cost upwards of $50!

Double your discounts with Ebates!

While you're already saving as much as you can on your trip, clicking through Ebates to participating stores can save you even more. Remember, the more you save, the more you can do when you get there. Save big and happy holiday travels!

Wine dot comToday's guest blogger is from Wine.com and offers must-read advice for anyone throwing a holiday party this year. Enjoy and Happy Holidays from Ebates!

Throwing a holiday party this year? Great move - everyone loves a good party to celebrate the season. Unfortunately, host duties can also cause a bit of stress. Avoid added chaos by making sure you've got all your wine bottles in a row. Here are some helpful tips & tricks to do so.

1. Make sure you have enough wine! You don't want to break the cardinal rule, which is to never run out of wine. Generally, you want to have a half-bottle per person on hand - that's about two full glasses per guest. If wine is the primary beverage and you're serving little else, or if the party is set to run more than 4 hours, I up that ratio to a full bottle - or at least 3/4 a bottle - per person. Just make sure you have enough of something to keep everyone happy.

2. Be diverse! Just because you're on a budget doesn't mean you have to be boring. It doesn't have to be complicated, but offer some choice in your wine - go for a sparkling wine, two white choices and two reds. Maybe choose a rich Australian Viognier and a crisp South African Chenin Blanc for your whites, and a spicy Rhone blend and a dense and jammy Zinfandel for your red selection. At Wine.com we sort our wines by flavor profile, among other things, so it's easy to pick out something light & crisp and something rich and creamy to offset it.

3. Screw it!  When you are serving a lot of wine, the last thing you want to do is be stuck behind the bar with a corkscrew, hastily opening bottles. Screw caps aren't for bottom shelf wines anymore - top quality vino is bottled under screw cap these days, and there is nothing easier than opening one when you're rushing around a party. For cork closures, make sure you pre-open a few bottles to stay ahead of consumption.

4. Keep those white wines chilled! If you've got quite a few bottles you need to keep chilled, there is no better ice bucket than a bathtub. Throw a few bags of ice in there, mix with a bit of water and voila! instant (and large) ice bucket. Just be careful if the bathtub is also the restroom for the guests!

5. Name those glasses! If you are using actual glassware, use wine charms or tags to help people remember which glass is theirs. Saves people from losing their glasses and you from having to provide more! If you're using plastic cups, nothing like some white labels and a Sharpie! Again, cuts down on waste and half-drunk cups everywhere. You can actually use easy-stick labels and a sharpie for regular glasses as well.

6. Clean glassware in the morning! This goes against my "stay ahead of the mess" rule, but to preserve more stems and break less bowls, wait till you have a clear head and lots of patience and room to wash those glasses. Feel free to rinse them that evening, but when it comes to a good wash, save it for morning. I promise you less casualties.

Though procrastination is all-too-popular during the holidays, we hope these tips help you prepare the beverage side of your party and avoid some chaos. Cheers, Cin-Cin & Sante!

Holiday StressBefore the holidays get the best of you (if they haven't already) take advice from today's guest blogger: Dr.Sinatra from Healthy Directions.

Fortify Your Body with "Anti-Stress" Vitamins

The holidays can be a time of stress and feeling overwhelmed. Many of us struggle with over packed schedules and family expectations. Thankfully, there are a number of natural measures you can take to help you reduce stress and even treat yourself during the holiday season. B vitamins are often called the "stress vitamins" because they're quickly depleted from your body during times of stress. That's because your body needs B vitamins to create the feel-good neurotransmitter serotonin. Plus, they give you the energy you need during times of stress (and shopping and cooking and wrapping and....).

Give Yourself the Gift of Massage

Massage is steeped in emotional benefits. The most obvious is its reduction of tension and stress. A brief massage can bring about a deep sense of peace and relaxation. In fact, some studies have found that massage can stimulate the production of chemicals such as serotonin, which are related to the body's innate relaxation response. In a word, massage makes you feel good.

Diffuse Your Stress with Exercise

One of the best antidotes for stress is physical activity. Exercise not only works the stress out of your muscles, it also stimulates your body's creation of feel-good endorphins.

A mile of walking--at any speed--burns as many calories as a mile of running, and I've rarely heard of people injuring muscles, ligaments, or joints while walking. I recommend walking every day for a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes. To really up the stress-busting benefits, walk with a friend. Sharing time with those you love is a wonderful part of the holidays, so why not walk off the stress together.

Look at the Glass as Half Full

Research has found that optimists are not only happier, they're also healthier, live longer, and recover from illnesses better than those with less cheery outlooks. One way to start each day on the right foot is to think about what you are grateful for. However, don't just rattle off a list. Really take the time to contemplate your feelings about each thing and internalize how each positive feature makes your life better.

Breathe!

Proper breathing is one way to reduce stress. The next time you feel stressed take a deep breath and sigh deeply. After several breaths, you should be aware of how much more you need to breathe and how much relief it offers you.

In short, offset the stress with the tips I've given you, and remember that, first and foremost, the holidays are a time of joy, gratitude, and love. This is by far the best gift you can give to yourself and your loved ones!

Hey Everyone,

You may remember a post I did a little bit ago for Ebates featuring a Jessica Simpson look for less. In addition to my The Looks For Less blog, I also have a website that "feeds" my addiction for cooking and baking. My sister Lauren is also addicted to food and photography, so we decided to document our recipe exchange in a blog appropriately titled In Her Kitchen

InHerKitchen

The recipe I decided to share with you all is the dessert that inspired the blog - my sister's famous (amongst my friends) Fruit & Nutella Pastry Cups. She came up with the recipe after we had dessert crepes together at a local French restaurant. Hope you will try it out and if you do, please let us know what you think. If you're not a baker-extraordinaire fret not, Ebates has numerous gourmet stores that sell delectable treats.

Thanks,
Jennifer

Ingredients

  • 1 Pepperidge Farm puff pastry sheet
  • 9 tb. Nutella hazelnut spread
  • 8 oz strawberries
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 tb. confectioners sugar
  • 1 can whip cream
  • 9 tb. chocolate sauce
  • Hazelnut (optional)

Directions

  1. Cut one sheet of nearly room temperature pastry dough into 9 squares (3 x 3). I use a pizza cutter, which seems to work best.
  2. Stretch each square out just enough to fit into an ungreased muffin tin. Fold the corners that are exposed into the tin and press until evenly covering the inside of the tin. Repeat for remaining squares. Bake for about 10-15 minutes at 350 until lightly golden brown.
  3. While pastry is baking, cut bananas and strawberries into bite sized chunks. Lightly coat with confectioners sugar to give a bit more sweetness to the fresh fruit.
  4. Remove the pastry from the oven when it is a light golden brown. It will puff up filling the inside of each muffin tin. While it is still warm, press gently around the inside with a spoon to open up each pastry forming a "pastry cup". Remove muffin tin from oven, and while still warm, press a spoon into each pastry to open them up. Spread a spoon full of Nutella into each pastry and spread evenly around the inside of the pastry.
  5. Also while still warm, spread the Nutella into the inside of the pastry cups. It is much easier to spread when the warm pastry melts the Nutella.
  6. Top each pastry with a heaping spoonful of the banana and strawberry mixture, a swirl of whip cream, a drizzle of chocolate sauce, and a shaving of hazelnut (optional).
This is my favorite desert, all time ever! Pastry, fruit and Nutella go so well together, and you feel as though it's somewhat healthy with the fruit, hahah.

Please visit our blog, InHerKitchen.com for more recipes and tons of pics documenting each recipes' directions.  You can also follow us on Twitter at @InHerKitchen and like us on Facebook.  Hope to hear from you!

Christmas ShoppingIt's beginning to look a lot like....THE HOLIDAYS!  Does hearing that phrase scare you? Does it send you into a panic over your holiday gift shopping list?  At one point in my life this was the case for me. As I have become more frugal, however, holiday shopping has become a bit exciting. I'm here to help you stay calm, earn cash back, and most of all shop smart!

Here are my tips for a frugal Holiday Season

1. Keep An Open Mind - One of my biggest pieces of advice for holiday shopping, is to shop throughout the year. This is especially true during the tail end of the holiday season, when retailers want to get merchandise out of their store.

Sales2. Shop With Help - By shopping sales and using coupons, you're able to combine double savings and walk away with rock bottom prices.

3. Know Your Store - Ask retailers if the price dips below what you pay, what is their policy on this situation? Many stores have a 30 day policy allowing you to get the lowest price of the month. Equally important is to know the average price. If you are looking for a gaming system, research what it retails for. This will let you know when you see a great price.

CyberMonday4. Shop From Home - The best time of the season to shop is right after Thanksgiving and just into the start of December. The incredible sales on Black Friday and Cyber Monday means you can score amazing deals and get cash back from Ebates! I personally appreciate shopping online and not having to leave my home or fight the crowds.

5. Shop With A Purpose - Most importantly, during the holiday season shop smart. Make a list of who you need to buy for, and set a price for each of those individuals. Holiday shopping is not a time to break the bank, but rather a time to celebrate and enjoy the ones you love.

Happy shopping!

AmbersNotebook
Today's Guest Blogger is AmbersNotebook. Not only can she dress for success, but she knows how teach others how to do so.

I'm not one to shy away from trends, in fact I embrace them. Playing with the latest trends is always something I think about when putting outfits together. I love the challenge of wearing trends without looking over-the-top trendy.

I am kind of obsessed with old Hollywood movies from the 50's and 60's. I love how classy and lady like women look in old Hollywood Glamour movies. Using starlets as my inspiration I decided to update this vintage look by incorporating Fall's hottest trends: Animal print, kitten heels, and print mixing.

As you can see my outfit is on trend while still maintaining a sense of classic and timeless. Here are some of my tips for wearing some of this seasons hottest trends.

Kitten Heels:
When wearing kitten heels you should remember to wear pieces that elongate your legs. Try pairing kitten heels with a high-waisted piece or a short hemline.

Animal Prints:
It's easy to go wrong with animal prints. To keep to looking on trend and not tacky, look for pieces that aren't too tight or revealing. Belts, shoes, bags, scarfs, sweaters and tunics are great places to start. Look for pieces that have a classic feel to them rather then super trendy pieces.

Mixing Prints:
Look for prints that mimic each other in shape or size. Pairing fun prints like polka dots and stripes can also work well together. Try prints together to see what works. By wearing various prints you can add interest to any outfit.

I am wearing a Joie Top From Nordstrom, an Urban Outfitters skirt and Chinese Laundry Kitten heels from Macy's.

Hi there Ebates lovers! My name is Monica and I am the gal behind MonicaWantsIt - a blog dedicated to all the things I want in life.
HomeandGardenEbates has been a great site for the regular things a twenty-something needs and wants: makeup, shoes, clothes, DVDs, etc. But recently, my love of Ebates has grown far deeper since I've become a first-time homeowner. I love DIY projects as much as any creative and budget-minded person, but sometimes you just want to buy something pretty like rugs, chandeliers and mirrors to spruce up your home. Overstock, Target and Horchow are some of the many options available for the items I just mentioned.

Chances are you can find what you need on Ebates if you take a moment to search. When it comes to building your home, take my advice and follow these top tips for getting the most out of Ebates.

Daily Double - Sometimes I'll have a specific item in mind but don't need right away. I check my Daily Double Email first thing in the morning, and if the store happens to be the Daily Double, it's easy for me to pounce on my item, and get double cash back.

Coupon Codes - A few minutes (sometimes seconds) spent searching for a coupon code can lead to bigger savings.

Special Promotions - During Man Week, my husband bought items from Sears, and during Gourmet Week, I bought chocolate for my upcoming holiday baking.

Tell-A-Friend - Who doesn't love earning money on their purchases? Spread the word about Ebates and you and your friends can reap the rewards.

Overall, Ebates is helping my husband and I make our first home fabulous and modern while helping us find the best deals possible. Rewarding us for purchases just helps us fund future projects in our home, and trust us, there are plenty of projects for us to work on. Happy buying!

Let TheLooksForLess.com, your personal shopper, put the looks together for you and then shop through eBates to get paid for dressing as though you can afford those designer price tags.

Today's guest blogger BudgetSavvyDiva has one thing on her mind: green living the frugal way. She shares her tips for green on a budget for all our eco-friendly shoppers. And those just getting started!

We all know that being frugal is important but that doesn't mean we can't be green as well. I've come up with 5 simple ways to live green while saving money.

Grow Your Own!Exercise Your Green Thumb: Growing your own veggies, fruits, and herbs is easy to do. Seriously, some things are so easy to grow, like the herbs in my window. Do a little digging and find out what fruits and veggies grow well in your area. It never hurts to toss a few seeds in the ground, add a little water, and save a little dough here and there. Don't forget to shop stores like Burpee for 5.0% Cash Back and a huge selection of seeds, plants, and more.

RecycleReduce household waste: less garbage means less trash going to the dump. If you have curbside service and reduce your weekly amount of trash, you might even be able to get a smaller can and pay less per month, wazoo! Think before you buy heavily packaged items, and recycle everything you can. You can even use a jar to grow a potato!

eBayTry and Buy Used: I've found so many frugal treasures this way. Great sources to look at are thrift stores, garage sales, and of course eBay. While shopping with 2.0% Cash Back I'm also saving money and sparing already overflowing landfills. Everyone wins!

Green CleanersMake Household Cleaners: You'd be amazed how easy it is to make your own household cleaner! One quick recipe is to add one part vinegar to two parts water. This makes a great all purpose cleaner. Also try green brands like Seventh Generation and Meyers. Both brands are available at drugstore.com.

Shop OnlineDrive Less: Driving your car might be convenient; however, your poor wallet pays the price. Even with gas prices back down to affordable, it's a good place to cut back. Carpool and skip the mall by shopping online with Ebates!

In celebration of Gourmet Week we asked mom-extraordinaire The Happy Housewife to share one of the mouth watering recipes featured on her blog.

One of the skills I think young adults lack when they leave home is the ability to cook. So many people rely on fast food and take out simply because they don't know how to shop, menu plan, or make a good meal. One thing that encourages kids to cook is to read books about food! This doesn't mean you have to give your kids cookbooks to read (although some would probably enjoy it) it means finding books that have food woven throughout the story line.

My daughter read one such book a few weeks ago and it has inspired her to try some new recipes. Titled Everything on a Waffle, this story follows a girl as she encounters and navigates a new life with new food. At the end of the chapter there is a recipe. Since this book was written a long time ago most of the recipes are missing exact measurements, which made it even more challenging and exciting for my daughter to make them.

Our favorite recipe so far has been the lemon cookies. We've made these lemon cookies several times and my daughter had finally tweaked the recipe to make it her own! With each cooking experience she grows more confident in the kitchen and is more likely to try new recipes, even if they don't use typical measurements!

lemoncookiesArden's Lemon Cookies
•    1 cup of sugar
•    2 sticks of butter (softened)
•    ¼ teaspoon of salt
•    2 eggs
•    2 teaspoons of vanilla
•    2 1/2 cups of flour
•    1 Tablespoon of lemon juice

Mix all the ingredients together. Allow the dough to set for approximately five minutes. Roll out and cut into circles with a drinking glass (I actually just patted the dough into circles with my hands, but if you like perfectly even cookies, a glass works great). Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges look crispy. Let cool on a rack and enjoy!

Oh, and don't forget to clean up your mess. Mothers hate it when you leave mixing bowls and cookies sheets in the sink, as well as flour all over the counter!

Did you know that Halloween is the second biggest holiday of the year? It's no wonder that by the end of summer, the retail industry is all about pumpkins, ghosts, goblins and ghouls. The original observances date back to the 16th century with roots centered on religious traditions and a wee bit of folklore. Originally associated with the religious rites of All-Hallows Eve (October 31st), and the feast of all saints (November 1st ), over the centuries, Halloween has evolved from customs of medieval times, into a celebration for the kid in everyone.

Lillian VernonSo whose idea was it to dress up? It's believed that Halloween Costumes were originally used to scare off demons; but thanks to local customs, scary literature and Hollywood classic's (Frankenstein anyone?), most children are all about selecting the perfect Halloween attire. For parents this can be a scary experience...but have no fear, Lillian Vernon's Halloween Hauntquarters takes the terror out of Costume shopping. As an added bonus you'll save $20 off $100+ order with code 000770000.

Outdoor Halloween Decorating can be attributed to Fall Harvest, and many families enjoy decorating with carved pumpkins and other seasonal items such as gourds, corn, and hay. As more and more families celebrate with at-home parties, the variety of indoor décor seems to grow each year.

Hello, fellow Ebaters! My name is Lisa and I'm stopping by from FantabulouslyFrugal to talk about every closet's must-have item as the days get colder: Boots.

Fall is my favorite season for many reasons, but more than any other I love that changing leaves and dropping temperatures means boot season is just around the corner! Speaking of boots, would you believe the store that's selling the pair of boots I'm coveting the most is actually Old Navy?!

Buckle BootsI love these Double Buckle Boots because they're sturdy and they have a bit of an edge. They're already selling for a very thrifty $39.50, but thanks to Ebates I'd know to shop on Tuesday (save an additional 10% with Old Navy card holder's discount), and I know I'll be getting 2.0% Cash Back on my purchase. Yep, even when something costs as little as $39.50 I still like to figure out how to pay even less.

I couldn't believe it when I found out that you can get cash back for shopping at UGG! I love my UGGs, but I hate how they never go on sale. The other downside to UGGs is that once it gets a little bit colder you can hardly ever find the size and/or style you want in stores. Luckily, that's hardly ever a problem when shopping online!

Classic UGGI feel like I've hit the jackpot when purchasing the lovely Classic Tall Boots above online through Ebates, because I find out that shipping is free on purchases over $150 and I get 4.5% Cash Back. These two deals combined means that shopping online is definitely cheaper than stopping by the store AND I'm guaranteed to find something in my size!

Finally, I'd be remiss not to mention the creme de la creme of shoe shopping destinations, 6pm.com. If you can't find that one pair of boots you need to complete your Fall/Winter wardrobe anywhere else, check this store. Not only do they offer name-brand shoes and boots for a fraction of their original retail price not to mention you'll get 2.5% Cash Back just by shopping through Ebates!

Love boots as much as I do? Leave a comment letting me know what fab pair of boots you're coveting this season!

Today's guest blogger Free Sample Momma dishes why she loves Ebates and shopping with cash back!

Now that the weather is turning cooler, I get in the mood to update my beauty regimen whether it's changing my makeup palette to Fall tones or changing the color of my hair, I always get the bug to change things up a bit with new products.

So while I search for the latest eye shadow colors or the newest hair care products, I also search for sites that will give me a little more than what I pay for and by this, I mean free samples with your order and even better cash-back.  freesamplesEbates offers all of this and more. I can shop at my favorite beauty sites like Sephora and get a great deals like: "Free Sample Collection of 3 Bare Escentuals Best Sellers with any purchase at Sephora" or "Free Signature Collection Body Care Item ($12 value) with any $10+ order" at Bath and Body Works. I can also get cash back through Ebates so I am definitely getting more than what I'm paying for.

The best part is the fact that Ebates has everything I need to get these great deals and with their easy search options I don't have to search all over the place; the coupons codes, free deals and cash back feature is all in one convenient place.

So when you start updating your makeup collections or start looking for the latest Fall beauty trends, you should check out Ebates to shop smarter and get freebies. After all- we all love a free sample and a great deal!

Today's guest blogger BeantownFashionista discusses Fall fashion and her top picks for looking great on a budget!

Summer hasn't officially bid us adieu but I cannot wait for Fall to arrive. Why you ask? Fall fashion! I'm a big lover of all things Fall; coats, jackets, scarves, leggings, boots, layering - I love it all! With retailers pumping out email alerts to their latest fall fashions, now is definitely the time to shop. So dig in your heels ladies, and let's get ready!

Express Shearling JacketI have been coveting the vast selection of pea coats at Express. If there is one thing that is on overload in my closet it's coats. My coat collection ranges in print and length; pretty much if it's a fitted piece of wool outerwear I'm a fan. Typically I browse through magazines to find what piece is going to be my new wardrobe splurge, however I was pleasantly surprised to find that Express had totally revamped their outerwear and included some "must-have now" pieces like this Suede Shearling Jacket. I live on a budget so purchases over $125 have to be planned ahead of time, but with 2.5% Cash Back I get something in return. This girl is on a saving spree because I MUST own this jacket!

Uptown JeansSpeaking of shopping on a budget, hello Wet Seal! Yes you read right, Wet Seal is for more than teeny-boppers. I love to visit Wet Seal for their skinny denim (which just so happens to be on my Fall wishlist) and fashion tops. We all know that trends are fleeting, but there's no need to break the bank trying to look current. By mixing less expensive items like these jeans priced at $19.50, with better wardrobe pieces I'm able to achieve a killer outfit for a fraction of the price. At Wet Seal you'll finds tons of options at bargain prices with 3.0% Cash Back. After the splurge of the above shearling jacket I love being able to complete the look for under $150!

Blogging at Joe's Place, today's guest blogger shares a few of his favorite moments in savvy shopping history. Shopping smart isn't just for women anymore!

It's not often you hear the words "coupons" and "guys" in the same sentence, but I'm living proof that guys LOVE to save money just like the ladies. I have always been a budget conscious shopper from a very young age; my mother taught me how to use coupons, shop when things are on sale, and comparison shop to assure I get the best deal.

Best Buy is an electronics store that I love a lot. Being the technology geek that I am,  I really appreciate their huge selection of televisions, dvd's, computers, and pretty much any gadget one could want.

Sony VaioI was in the market for a new laptop, when I saw a Sony Vaio, white model,  on sale for $699.00. To me, this was a great price. It had all of the specifications I was looking for, and was already marked down from $899.00. Upon arriving home and unpacking the laptop, I realized they had mistakenly given me the black model. I sealed it back up and returned it the next day to exchange it for the white one.

The great folks at Best Buy realized that the laptop was now on sale as of Sunday (I had purchased it on a Saturday evening), so they offered me the new sale price of $549.00 which gave me a refund of $150. This was a great bargain and I was very pleased that they would honor the new sale price even though I had purchased it the day before. Had I known about Ebates at the time I would have received 1.0% Cash Back too!

Snapfish PhotobookSnapfish.com is a website that is great for people like myself, who love photos and preserving family memories. Being the family photographer/historian I've accumulated many great pictures over the years. Personalized gifts mean a lot to me as well as saving money, so when I ran across a deal that Snapfish.com was offering on their website for a FREE photo book, I was really excited. I had used their service before for getting digital prints and was quite pleased, so I started to design my book.

My brothers, whom I raised, were moving to California to pursue their music career, and I wanted to make a very special gift for them. The process was very easy and allowed total personalization. The only cost that I incurred, was a shipping and handling charge of around $5.99 which is great for a $30 photo book! They really loved the gift and they will have it for many years to come. I loved getting 7.5% Cash Back.

So guys, don't forget to always be on the lookout for good bargains. I still to this day have a coupon that my mother apparently forgot to use many years ago, and I keep it as a constant reminder to NEVER pay full price for anything.

Shop Smarter With EbatesToday's guest blogger ForTheMommas dishes on her favorite stores to save money, and to conquer shopper's remorse!
.
Back to School Clothes Shopping is my weakness. Each year I walk into stores and marvel at perfectly coordinated outfits topped with adorable backpacks and lunch bags, and I immediately think my son needs that. As I start to rationalize how cute he would look, the logical part of me knows he doesn't need sneakers that match his backpack, which match his baseball hat.

Last school year, I didn't win the battle with my irrational desire to match my son from head to toe. This year I am resisting temptation all together by doing all of my shopping online to help save money. This way nothing randomly ends up in my cart! Here are a few stores I save big at.

Gap.
I will be grabbing all the cute fall trends for kids at Gap has this Labor Day weekend, a great sale and 10.0% Cash Back cannot be beat.

Piperlime.
A few new pairs of shoes and a whopping 15.0% Cash Back!

Old Navy.
This is where I get my basics- you know socks, jeans and t's to coordinate with the nicer pieces from Gap. 2.0% Cash Back is just a big bonus on top of their great prices.

Office Max.
Cannot forget the rest of the school supplies and 3.0% Cash Back for buying things you already need.

Happy Shopping!

Nobody knows shoes like TheWorkingGirlsShoeCloset. As today's guest blogger she'll share her top picks from Piperlime. Shoe addicts take note!

Shop PiperlimeI recently discovered the brand Rosegold and was immediately taken by their vintage/modern style. These Malo ankle booties get some serious style points because not only are they versatile, but they also feature several fun details. Matrix-esque straps add a bit of edge to any outfit, yet their streamlined silhouette looks polished and professional. I would pair these with black leggings or a dress.

As a city girl I was drawn to practical details like this boot's rubber sole. I refuse to accept that fashionistas have to suffer for comfort, and this boot offers serious grip on cracked sidewalks, subway grates, and impossible to walk on (ie; cobblestone) crosswalks. Available at Piperlime you'll get 15.0% Cash Back this Labor Day weekend.

Marisela BootieThere's a part of me that misses back to school shopping. As an adult I channel this feeling by updating my wardrobe with key items like shoes to keep my look fashion forward. These Marisela Oxford Boots (as seen on SJP) are a perfect example. Done in this season's hottest color, these serve as a neutral base to any number of looks; one of my favorite being the skinny jeans/blazer combo. You could easily switch it up by going with a grey dress and grey tights for a monochromatic, minimalist chic look.

Aside from being simply darling, these boots have proven to be quite comfy.  They run one half size small so be sure to order a size up. Now you're ready to be crowned the queen bee of Hive and Honey!

Men's-Fall-Fashion
Men's-Fall-Fashion2
I don't believe in following trends but I am a firm believer in having my money and things work hard for me. In order to achieve that, I put my dollar on pieces that will give me mileage for years to come and then some. In other words - pieces that stand the test of time.

Picking out worthy, bang-for-your-buck products (both fashion and grooming) is a big part of what I do for Style Flavors and today, I'm sharing my Fall picks with you guys at Ebates.

1. Cardigans are ubiquitous not just in times of cooler winds but during warmer Summer nights too. Hence, they are wardrobe requisites that can also pull double duty - at work and play. The above Black Emblem Cardigan by Comme Des Garcons' younger line, Play ($376 -available at Tobi) stands out in the sea of cardigans with its fun, iconic heart motif. The grey works for all occasions while the black heart says it all with its individualistic quiet playfulness - perfect for days when you want a quick sartorial pick-me-up that never gets old. 2.5% Cash Back sweetens this up.

2. I like to think of my leather jackets as the Berkshire Hathaway stocks of my wardrobe - they are my sartorial investments. Leather jackets are pricey because a good one will last for years and even decades, not to mention they never go out of style. If you're not ready to make a hefty investment just yet but still want to get in on the action, then this Diesel "Lafsh" Leather Zip Up Jacket ($400) from Bloomingdales would be perfect. From the crinkled broken-in leather to the awesome zip-detail on the sleeves; my money is on this bad-ass piece. By shopping at Bloomingdales you'll receive 3.0% Cash Back.

3. This Fall, stay toasty in military-inspired style with this Military Mockneck Cardigan from Gap ($69.50). The standing collar offers dashing structure while the big buttons provide both contrast and complimentary detail that never gets old. The two side pockets further enhances the good-looking utilitarian vibe of this piece. Speaking of utilitarian, you can always find a use for the 2.0% Cash Back at Gap.

4. Hoodies don't always get the best rep. That said, they don't have to look sloppy. This NSF Terry Pullover Hoodie from Barneys New York features contrasting darker tape-like detail on the top of the sleeves and hem so the look is both simple and arresting for a more polished feel. The kangaroo pockets provide both form and function; use them to store essentials and keep your hands warm. The light grey is flattering and works all year round. If you're constantly traveling or simply lounging in front of the TV, this would be a great companion to keep you toasty and stylish at the same time. Get 2.5% Cash Back from Barneys New York.

5. The versatility of leather sneakers like this pair of Fendi Leather Sneakers ($620) will come in handy on days when you need to dress up but don't want the associated stuffiness. Available at Saks Fifth Avenue this sleek pair with its subtle perforated logo detail has a quiet understated refinement that works on all days. Shop Saks Fifth Avenue and get 2.5% Cash Back.

6. A chambray shirt provides the distinct pleasure of something vintage in a modern package. This Vintage Chambray Utility Shirt from J.Crew ($98) will go the extra step and provide a ruggedness that still maintains a city sophistication. Be it with shorts in the Summer or chinos in the Fall; this is one look that just works. Shop at J.Crew and receive 1.0% Cash Back.

Shop-Your-Sticky-Situation-Must-Haves
My name is Erica Manney, and I am usually found blogging at YouShouldOnlyKnow.com. I write about modern manners and getting out of sticky social situations. My qualifications? I am always finding myself in said sticky situations and have lots of ways to get out of them. I have prepared my own list of emergency items, practically guaranteed to get you out of a myriad of sticky social situations and climb out of etiquette breech.

Breath Mints - As a rule of thumb whenever someone offers you gum or a mint, take it. They are being polite and possibly trying to tell you something. Find it at drugstore.com.

Matches - Impromptu birthday cupcakes, mood lighting, blackout candle-lighting and more. You can substitute a lighter, but that won't help you out after a trip to the guest bathroom. Yes, I went there.

Two Quarters -  I know, I know. Everyone has a cell phone, and even meters take credit cards (at least in NYC they do) but this is advice from my dad and I always find myself in need of a quarter. How much room does this really take up?

Business Card Holder - This is less "emergency" and more "that's one classy broad." In a pinch or when you are using a clutch, it can also hold your ID and credit cards. Find it at Urban Outfitters.

Tissues - When you need one, there is just no substitute. These have saline and aloe for a clean, soft nose. Find them at drugstore.com.

Safety Pins - Depending on the kind of business card holder you get, you can even keep these little life-savers in there! Carrying these pretty much guarantees that one day you will meet your future best friend in a ladies restroom. Find them at Walgreens.

Pen - Get one with a cap that screws on. The last thing you need is to create your own sticky situation by a leak, or an errant cap. This set is by Jonathan Adler and can be found at Barnes and Noble.

Mirror -  Check for stuff in your teeth, re-touch makeup and because someone always needs one. Get one with a cover, so it doesn't break. Can you tell I'm accident prone? Find it at Sephora.

Swiss Army Knife - I have never, ever regretted carrying one of these. I'm a fan of the "card" style. Bonus if it comes with an LED flashlight. But if you are a wine drinker, I recommend the bulkier style and make sure it comes with a corkscrew. Also, make sure either style includes a bottle opener (priorities!). Word of advice leave this at home before heading to the airport. Find this at Target.

There are tons of other things I carry, if my bag is big enough. Flip-flops or ballet flats, a small flashlight, Band-Aids, a bottle of water, aspirin, a granola bar; but the above are the essentials whenever I leave the house. What else would you keep in your Sticky Situations Emergency Kit?

Buying something for Dad is always a tough one.  I did the ugly tie thing for a couple years and even though it always put a smile on his face, I knew I needed to step it up this year. I wanted something that he could show off to his friends and make them all jealous.  With his summer golf trips and the family vacation around the corner, I decided to get him a Flip video camera, which PC World just named one of the top "cool gadgets for a hot summer."

I checked out some of the Flip models and saw some cool designs, but I still wasn't sure which model would be the best fit for him. I wanted HD video, something easy for him to use and a present that was unique.  I ended up getting the new SlideHD camera, which shoots in HD 720p video, holds up to 12 hrs of video and has a 3" touch-screen. It also comes with built in Flipshare software, which is a super easy way to organize and upload your videos to YouTube, Facebook and MySpace. But the cool thing was that I uploaded my favorite photo of us on a fishing trip and Flip printed it on the front of the camera for free!  I can't wait to see his face when he realizes he didn't get a tie this year!

Plus, shop through Ebates and earn 5% Cash Back on your purchase, and enter coupon code FLIP10 at checkout to save an additional $10 on your order. The $10 off coupon is good until 6/30.

If you watch ESPN, you've probably noticed all the ads running to hype the FIFA World Cup which runs from June 11 - July 11 in South Africa. In case you are unfamiliar with the event, the World Cup, which occurs once every four years, is a soccer tournament comprised of 32 nations and is one of the biggest events in all of sports. In 2006, the World Cup drew 829 million viewers in North America and the Caribbean compared to 141 million viewers the Super Bowl drew that same year.

In one of the most highly anticipated matches in the tournament, the United States will play England in their opening match on June 12th. This is a game that every American should watch (in my humble opinion) to show support for their country against one of the world's best soccer nations. If the USA can find a way to tie or win that match, we should be able to advance to the next round where anything can happen!

If you love soccer or just want to show your support for your country this summer, now is the time to buy your Team USA shirt from World Soccer Shop since supplies are limited worldwide. World Soccer Shop is known as one of the premier destinations for world soccer apparel and we carry dozens of items for all 32 countries participating in the FIFA World Cup. You can buy the officially licensed jersey for nearly every team and we have a wide selection of t-shirts and more at low prices.

twitter-logo.jpgLet's face it, everyone is on Twitter, and now Twitter has become one of the hottest spots to find the latest deals, coupons, and one-day sales this holiday season. Here are five ways you can use Twitter to help you save big this holiday season.

1) Make a List, Check it Twice. Thanks to Twitter's new list-making feature, you can follow all of your favorite brands, retailers and cash-back sites. It's an easy way to stay on top of the latest deals of interest to you. I posted a list recently of 15 to follow for the best holiday deals, including @Ebates (of course!) and @ToysRUs.

2) Fetch Money-Saving Coupons. You'll find that your favorite retailers and brands will tweet coupons from time to time, but it's a matter of waiting for those coupon tweets. Or, you can ask @CouponBot to find coupons for you. Just tweet the store name to @CouponBot and it will fetch coupons for you within seconds. Just one reminder: non-Ebates coupons can sometimes negate your cash back.

3) Find Great Deals in Every Category. One site I love is CheapTweet because it scours Twitter conversations for the best deals and then posts them by category, such as fashion & beauty, tech, entertainment & travel, food and more. The CheapTweet community then votes on the best deals so the truly great ones bubble to the top of each category.

4) Search the Best Deals. Another way to find the best deals is by using the Search box on your Twitter profile page. Just type in what you have your eye on along with the word "deal" or "coupon" to pull up relevant tweets (and possible fantastic deals!).

5) Just Ask. Sometimes you can get a deal or a coupon code by simply asking. Send out a quick tweet to @BestBuy, for example, to see if there are any hidden bargains or promo codes they can share with you. It never hurts to ask.

Have a question about using Twitter to score hot holiday deals? Just leave a comment or reach out to me directly at my blog, Coupon Cravings.

Shopping for the best deals and picking out worthy products (both clothing and grooming) is what I do for Style Flavors and today I'll be doing that for you guys at Ebates.

Fall is one of my favorite seasons and with good sartorial reason: colder weather brings about a myriad of clothing option and creating a layered look with jackets and outwear is something I enjoy doing.

The important thing to note when buying outerwear is fit. A good coat should fit snug, not tight. It should look fitted with enough room for movement. A good rule of thumb to follow when buying outerwear is to keep going a size down until you can't no longer fit into it and then buy the next size up.

For top and trench coats, bring along and wear a blazer or jacket when you are trying the coats on so you can have an accurate feel of how it would move and look with layers underneath it.

Banana Republic Tri-Blend Military Full Button Jacket
This Banana Republic Tri-Blend Military Full Button Jacket ($198) has clean lines and an updated modern military-inspired look. The elastic loop at the neck and the button hole allows you to slip your music player into the interior pocket and loop your earphones for easy, organized use - making this perfect for running errands or for the commute to work. An 8% Cash Back makes this even more enticing.

Shades of Greige Trench Coat

Shades Of Greige is an up-and-coming label that makes stylish, quality clothing at affordable prices. This trench coat is a fine example. In a classic khaki shade, this will get you through wet days and then some. The attention to detail is commendable: from the buttoned cuffs to the buttoned back pleat to the partial plaid lining. Keep warm and dry while looking good. Best thing is, it's on sale ($249.99. Was $348)! Plus you get a 2.5% cash-back from Urban Outfitters.

Armani Collezioni Knit Jacket
If you are looking to splurge, this Armani Collezioni Knit Jacket ($575) has my vote. Its asymmetrical zip closure gives this a current, fresh feel that won't go unnoticed. The dark grey shade is classic and will serve you well for years to come. The velvet fabric on the collar, seam and elbow patch is luxurious and timeless. You can wear this in your 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s. That to me is the make of a coat worth every cent. And you get more than a few cents back with 2.5% Cash Back from Saks Fifth Avenue.

Richard Chai Wool Motorcycle Jacket
Another piece worth splurging on is this Richard Chai Wool Motorcycle Jacket ($695). The fusion of a classic double-breasted style with a modern motorcycle look gives this an instant kick-ass effect. The side zipper detail adds a hit of cool to this piece while the zippers on the cuffs give this a stylized rebel feel that only increases its desirability. Get 2.5% Cash Back from Saks Fifth Avenue.

As you can see you don't need many pieces to update your wardrobe or jazz up an outfit. Buying one key favorite piece and building your everyday outfits around that is a simple, easy way to get as much mileage out of your purchase as possible; giving you bang for your buck.

And getting a cash rebate for something you would already buy is just fantastic icing. So I do believe you can have your cake and eat it too. In this case, you can have your coat and cash back too.

Target CouponsI don't remember exactly when I fell in love with Target. I think that the process was pretty swift or there was some sort of magical dust in the air. I can't put a finger on it, but suffice it to say, I've become a dyed-in-the-wool, Tar-jay loving, blogging maniac about all things Target for almost two years now. What do you want to know? Great tips on getting the most out of shopping at Target? I can help! I am a Targeteer!

To start with, go to Target.com and sign up for their email. Then chant repeatedly that you will NOT click links in their email before you log into Ebates and route your shopping trip through the Ebates site once logged in so you get credit for shopping at Target. Target emails are your "cheat sheet" to getting deals. Just search for the item after you've gone to Target via Ebates to access the deal on the item you have an interest in purchasing. Is your brain asking you why I am telling you to do it this way? It ensures that you will get your cash back from Ebates. If you click on links from just going to the Target site first, you probably will not get credit for your purchase. This is because of the tracking that takes place so that Ebates can see all the info it takes to give you credit.

Next, go to the site map for Target. It will reveal many pages that you may not have known that were there that are also money savers. There is a page for rebates on products. That is updated as merchandise rotates on and off the list. There is a link for recycling your old cell phone where you can get credit via a Target Gift Certificate.

Now take a moment and check out their clearance pages. This is where you get the greatest savings. If you will shop off-season, you'll rack up savings as high as 90%. You will have to visit the site very often as the discounts deepen to snag your deal. How about Target's Daily Deals? There are usually about five items listed. Another fairly new category is the Red Hot Shop! You'll find a dozen or so items listed there that are very interesting, usually quite affordable, and often a little quirky.

Do you have a Target RedCard? I'm not advocating debt but if you can manage your credit, this can be a sweet deal. We purchase everything on our RedCard and after $1000 in purchases you get a 10% discount card good for one day. I usually use my 10% card for a shop where I can maximize my savings and pile up clearance prices, sale prices, shopping codes or store coupons and make my own sale.

Now that you know the basics of how to grab a really good deal, here are a few frugal opportunities that caught my eye this week... Thanksgiving Turkey is sure to be a hit when you use this Stainless Steel Roasting Set! Snag this deal now for $27.99 (reg $39.99). This is a smart purchase after saving 30% and it will last for many years to come. It includes two large fork roast/turkey lifters, a jumbo roast rack, baster, reusable turkey timer and marinade injector. Baster is stainless steel with a silicone bulb and comes with needle and brush; baster holds 1.5 oz; injector holds 7 tsp.

Serve up a scrumptious pumpkin pie in the Cornucopia Pumpkin Pie Plate for $8.99! You'll be happy you have this item to place on your Turkey Day dinner table after saving 25%. If you are the guest at someone else's table, take a pie in this pie plate as a hostess gift. This item is a 10 " hand-painted stoneware and will make all of your Pilgrims smile when they learn it is also dishwasher safe.

Snuggle up under this Kingsize Sleepwarmer Automatic Blanket. Save not only 50% on this blanket at $59.98 (reg. $119.99), but also on your winter heating bills too. It is currently available in a variety of colors (king size only) and is 100% polyester and machine washable.

Every girl needs a little black dress! Check out this Merona Collection Knit Wrap Dress! It is available in XS - XXL at ONLY $14.99 (reg $29.99). You'll save 50% on this dress and you'll get tons of opportunities to wear it to all sorts of holiday parties. Just change your jewelry, shoes and dress up or down with a wrap or a jacket.

Interested in getting more deals in the store? Surf on over to AttentionTargetShoppers.com and follow along as I lead you from one deal to the next, Be sure to sign up for the email feed. I also publish a complete ad match-up to coupons item-by-item every Sunday.

Disclaimer: I am not now nor have I ever been a Target employee. I am simply a Target loving blogger who loves to share her deals. I also do NOT have any "insider" info from any Target employee past or present. I find my own deals or they are submitted by others who love shopping at Target. Follow me to Target. I will save you lots of money.

It's not that I despise vacuuming, but with our yellow lab in the house, we've got furballs rolling around like tumbleweeds if we don't drag the vacuum out twice a day.

So after hearing that iRobot makes a robotic Roomba vacuum especially for pets, we decided to give it a try. It turns out that our Roomba is a tough little machine that cleans our floors better than a human (at least the ones in our household). If iRobot just adds a wagging tail, it might even earn 'favorite pet' status.

iRobot RoombaIf you haven't heard of the Roomba, it's basically a dinner-plate sized disc, a few inches tall, that sounds like a kid's radio-controlled car. It relentlessly scours your floor plan, avoiding stairs and other hazards, and is smart enough to return to its charging station when its battery is low. You can even schedule it to clean when you're not home. The machine's low profile allows it to get under many places you normally never vacuum, and its side brushes allow it to clean tight corners and baseboards. If it ever does get tripped up on something, it stops and gives you a polite beep.

iRobot makes different models for just about every floor type and cleaning chore, including the floor-washing "Scooba" and the industrial-grade "Dirt Dog". We bought one of the new model 562 Pet Series Roombas, which includes a high-capacity debris bin.

Check out their site and you'll get 3.0% Cash Back, a free gift with any Roomba or Scooba Purchase (up to a $130) value, plus free shipping.

Did you know that you can now have a Vera Bradley wedding? There are now custom bridesmaid dresses & tableware in Vera Bradley fabrics! The only reason that I know this is because I am a Vera Bradley addict. My obsession began after the birth of my first child. Since then, I have purchased at least two a year.

Vera Bradley toteThe prints are so eye-catching and make such a fashion statement that I can't help myself. Each week Vera Bradley seems to have a new bag on sale. As we all know times are tough and a little supplemental income could come in handy for many of us. If you have a computer and a willingness to learn these five ways to make money may just come in handy.

1. Ebates (of course!)

We all know that Ebates is great for saving a little money on all of our internet shopping, but the referral program is also a great way to earn some extra money. Ebates makes it easy by using the referral emails. You can also post your referral link in your signature line of your emails, forum posts, or even add a banner to your website to refer your visitors. For more information visit the refer-a-friend page.

2. Become a Virtual Assistant

The Virtual Assistant (VA) industry has been exploding the last couple years. As the name suggests VAs do assistant or secretarial work, but usually they work from home rather than at an office. A couple Google searches will yield more than enough info to get you started.

3. Blogging

A few years ago there weren't very many bloggers making money with their blogs, but more and more we are seeing bloggers using their blogs as a supplemental income. It isn't easy, but if you have the discipline to stick with it for a couple years it can be a viable source of income.

4. Write product reviews

More and more websites are offering cash or perks in exchange for product reviews. Some of the larger ones are Ciao, Epinions.com, ReviewStream.com, but there are many others. Most require a specific number of words per review and a few other minor requirements. But if you are quick with a keyboard and have an opinion, this might not be a bad way to earn a few bucks.

5. Selling on eBay

Even though eBay has been around for a while, there is plenty of money still to be made. You can start by cleaning out your closets and attic. Quality brand-name items often do well on eBay. Many of the 1,000,000+ eBay businesses began just reselling items found on clearance racks. Plus, of course, Ebates users earn 2% Cash Back on most eBay purchases.

This post is brought to you by Bob Lotich of Christian Personal Finance. Find him on

The first time my parents visited me in college I thought my mother was going to faint. My dorm room was a bit eclectic: the curtains were plaid, the bedspread floral, and the floors bare. Surely I was brought up better than this, she lamented! Left to my own devices I "borrowed" some old sheets from the family linen closet (the ones where the pillowcases didn't match) and appropriated a long-forgotten comforter hidden on the top shelf. The window coverings...well they were the legacy of the former occupant. Money was tight and there weren't many options for budget-conscious college kids in those days.

Suite 109 SheetsBut like they say - we've come a long way baby! Thanks to Designer Linens Outlet, college-bound kids can go off to school in style at a savings of up to 80% off retail prices. From sheets to towels, bed sets to pillows - their vast selection will fit any style, any wallet.  Not sure where to start - visit their comprehensive Back-to-School section, where they highlight the best brands like Nautica, Croscill and Christy to name a few. Each week there's a different promotion to help you save even more, and until August 31st you can either take $10 OFF orders of $99+ with promo code AFTen99, or select free shipping on orders of $49+ with promo code AFShipFree89.

Bed SetsNow you know where to buy and how to save, but are you still suffering from thread count confusion or cotton vs. percale? Visit Designer Linen Outlet's Sheet Buying Guide to strip down the bedding basics. Haven't decided on duvet cover vs. quilt or how memory foam can relieve those sleepless pre-test nights? DLO's Bedding Guide really simplifies linen lingo. And at last, the ultimate source on how to measure for sheets, shams, and more! Remember; studies have shown that students who get a good night's sleep get better grades. Why tempt fate? Shop for your future college graduate's Back-to-School bedding at Designer Linens Outlet and earn 4% Cash Back while you're at it!

P.S. - In case Mom and Dad are taking their student's departure as a signal to re-decorate, they too can get the best in designer bedding, bath, and home décor at the same great savings up to 80% off retail prices at Designer Linens Outlet. Why should the kids have all the fun!

Hi! I'm Sasha and I blog at Sasha Says. I'm a working mom of two who can't say no to new beauty products. I'm also a big Ebates fan too, and was so excited when they invited me to guest blog.

I absolutely love Reese Witherspoon; so much that I named my daughter Reese! So when I saw that she was the new face of Avon last year, I was intrigued. I had never tried Avon before, (in fact I always thought of it as an "older lady" company), but with her as a spokesperson, I had to try it! I first tried the Pro-To-Go Lipstick and it's been a favorite of mine for quite some time now. It retails for $9, and I love how it slides shut - no cap to lose! My current favorite color is Cherry Glisten, too bad it doesn't make me look like Reese!

Avon LipstickNow, I'm going to admit something - I'm 35 and (gasp!) have the beginnings of some wrinkles. My Avon rep recommended I try the Anew Rejuvenate line. Right now they have a fabulous deal: you can get both the Flash Facial Revitalizing Concentrate and Night Revitalizing Cream for just $39.99 - that's a savings of $40! I use the Flash Facial before I apply my makeup in the morning and the Night Cream, well, at night.

Avon Anew

I think you'll find Avon is always having spectacular deals and you can use code REPFS for free shipping too! Plus, don't forget -- whenever you shop through Ebates, you're automatically earning a solid 5% Cash Back at Avon! Happy shopping!

Stop by Sasha Says and let me know what you think about Avon.

One thing that deters me from online shopping is the fact that I'm impatient and hate waiting for packages to arrive. At the same time, I hate letting "free money" with cash back from Ebates go to waste! There are several stores on Ebates where you can get the best of both worlds.

Shortly before Christmas and the arrival of my second child, I was in search of a new camera. Being the frugal shopper that I am, I wanted to find the best value. Aside from product reviews and ratings, what I was looking for were discount codes, free shipping offers, gift with purchases, rebates, and (of course) the highest percentage of cash back through Ebates.

Best Buy CouponsI settled on a camera that I found at Best Buy that was on sale and came with a free memory card. Best Buy only has 1% Cash Back, but because Best Buy offers in-store pickup I was able to purchase it online through Ebates and have it in my hot little hand the very same day. I didn't have to pay shipping and I didn't have to wait anxiously for my package to arrive, yet I still earned cash back.

For in-store pickup at Best Buy just follow these easy steps:

1. Place your item in your cart and click the "Pick Up" button (this button is selectable only for products with store pickup availability).

2. Click "Select Store."

3. Enter your ZIP code or city/state and click "Find Nearest Stores."

4. Click "Select" next to the store with the item in stock where you'd like to pick up your purchase.

5. After you get through checkout, wait to receive two e-mails from Best Buy:

Order confirmation e-mail -- Verifies they've received your store pickup order.

Store pickup notification e-mail -- Confirms that your order is in stock and available for pickup. It will also walk you through the steps you'll take when you get to the store.

(This e-mail arrives within 45 minutes on average during store hours.)

There are four stores on Ebates that offer in-store pickup: Best Buy, Home Depot, Walmart, and The Container Store.

The next time you are shopping for a big ticket item like a new dishwasher or a lawnmower, don't forget about in-store pick up, and remember to shop with Ebates! Don't lose out on all that cash back!

Everyone can take advantage of the increased cash back of 8% at Sephora and be spoiled with some freebies with their purchase. Sephora has just about every beauty brand you can imagine plus many that will be new to you. That's where the freebies come in: Sephora offers a constantly changing "sample bar" from which you can select three to add to every purchase. Plus, if you are a Sephora Beauty Insider you will earn points that will qualify you to receive even more free samples (think deluxe size samples). If you fill out or update your Beauty Profile by April 30, you will get 50 free points in May, which brings you halfway to your next deluxe sample.

I recommend that you start browsing the Sale Items if you are looking for a great deal (up to 75% off) on a specific type of product, but aren't looking for a specific brand. When browsing the sales, I always sort my list from low to high price so that I see the cheapest (and often deepest discounted) items first. If you are buying several things from Sephora, then be aware that you can have free shipping with any order over $50. Otherwise shipping is a reasonable and flat rate of $5.95.

Oh, and did I mention there's almost always a coupon code you can enter to add something extra to your bag to spoil you even more? A few of the current coupon codes I found at Ebates include:
NATURALBAG - 8 free samples of natural products, I got this sample pack with my last order and it was a great variety of new products to try
DUWOP - DuWop Prime Venom sample (think lip plumping)
PRIMER - Smashbox Photofinish Primer sample

Sephora gift setAnyone want a free birthday present? Well, my birthday is coming up next month and I love to spoil myself with freebies. Sephora is giving me my choice of Super Shimmer Lip Gloss Trio or Vanilla Cupcake Bath & Shower bubbles with my online order. I don't even need to visit the store (but could and no purchase would be required) because they let me select my birthday present right now. Be sure that you get your birthday present from Sephora too and sign up here!

Whether you are buying yourself a gift or someone else, you are going to be so spoiled with Sephora when shopping with Ebates. I just got spoiled with twelve free samples and a birthday gift with my online purchase today.  If you've got any online shopping to do at Sephora, don't forget to do it before the special 8% Cash Back returns to the normal 4% cash back.  I love Sephora and Ebates so much that I'm spoiling one of my lucky readers with a $50 Sephora eGiftcard giveaway - you should enter right now!

Easter is April 12 this year and my friend over at the Wild Planet Toy Store kindly agreed to give fellow Ebates shoppers a special discount on toy purchases.

It's simple - just go to the Wild Planet Toy Store, pick out a bunch of stuff that you wish had been around when you were a kid, then after checkout, enter EBATES in the Coupon Code field on the payment screen.

Click "Redeem It" and you'll receive 3% off the price of your purchase. This 3% discount is offered in addition to the 3% cash back you'll get in your Ebates big fat check.

Extra bonus: the discounts count toward the purchase of bundles, including those that are already discounted up to 15%. The only thing you can't use the additional discount for is the purchase of gift certificates (but you probably knew that already).

For those with toy buying needs beyond Easter, my buddy said he'd extend the discount and honor the code for all purchases made between now and (including) April 30, 2009. So you can stock up on birthday presents too!

What I like best about the Wild Planet Toy Store is that they carry the complete line of Wild Planet toys, so you can get everything at one place, which increases your savings on shipping.  (In case you're wondering, I don't work for the Toy Store, I work for the company that makes the toys - a  totally separate group of people.)

The fact is, I work in my pajamas so they are pretty important to me! So how do I find some stylish and comfy new pajamas without paying full-price? Head to my favorite retailers through Ebates and only look at the "Clearance" section. The key to saving money on clothes shopping is not to think about what you need this season, but to think about what you need this year (and only browse the clearance). I found four comfy pairs of pajamas and they are all under $20 a pair. I think I just found my new work wardrobe! I'll be comfy while blogging away in my pajamas.

charmeuse pjs.JPG Would you love to lounge in these Oscar de la Renta Charmeuse Pajama Set? Well forget that $80 price tag because they can be yours for $19.99 at Macy's. Plus, Ebates pays you 4% cash back on your purchase. They are only available in Medium! I love virtual clearances because it's so much easier to dig through the deals. And while you're at Macy's virtual store you can also submit a review for a chance to win $1,000 and enter the Macy's and Clinton Kelly's Makeover America Sweepstakes. What if your new pajamas don't fit? Remember that it's easier to return a Macys.com purchase than a store purchase because you have two return options; mail it back with the pre-paid label or take it to a brick-and-mortar store. I'm feeling comfier already just thinking about the ease and comfort of shopping online for pajamas!
