If you have a makeup maven on your list this year I have an excellent suggestion for you. One of the season's hottest trends is burgundy lips. It's a bold statement that is a great way to spruce up an outfit. I was struggling to find the right hue that actually stayed on my lips longer then 5 minutes. Enter Nars. Their lipstick is incredible.

NarsPlum.jpg

It doesn't run at all, lasts through a full meal (I am serious), and comes in amazing colors. My current favorite is Scarlet Empress. It is a deep purple-y wine that does wonders. It is $24 at Sephora, where you can earn 8.0% Cash Back!

The air is beginning to have a crisp edge in the mornings which can only mean that Fall is well on it's way! We love summer and the light beauty products we can use, but there's just something about the beginning of Fall that we adore. The air is warm enough to still wear sandals but our tans are starting to fade. These are the makeup and beauty products that transition us from those hot summer days to cool Fall evenings.

08_06-replacement.jpg

1.  Lancome Oscillation Mascara: The description calls it a "power mascara" and I couldn't agree more. It might be a little pricier than mascara without the vibration, but there goes all your power and definition. I can't go back now, it's that good.

2. Big Sexy Hair Powder Play: Similar to a root lifter, this bad boy makes my hair big and sexy, how ironic! I can pump a ton of body into my roots with the powder play and at the same time, it helps control the oil factor I've got going on by late afternoon.

3.  Fekkai Full Blown Volume Shampoo: I'm always looking for a way to put some height to my hair and this shampoo does just that. Nobody likes a head full of flat hair.

4. Essie Nail Color: This is the hottest nail color to hit the market recently and I can't get enough. I almost wish they'd quit making so many colors because I'd be a little richer. The mangos and greens are out of this world and perfect for September.

About A Penny Filled Pantry:

We know that they money we save can be spent on other things or used to give to other people. Let's just say that we coupon so that sometimes we can spend that money we're saving on something cute and bright and colorful... like the newest yummy Essie nail flavor!

September is just around the corner and that means so is the first day of school! We've put a twist on the traditional back-to-school list with our very own back-to-beauty checklist. Here is everything you need to carry in your bag to make an A+ impression and start the new year off on the right foot.

MayBox.jpg

1) Lip Gloss: Lip gloss is a great way to polish off a look and is also a great alternative to makeup if you don't typically wear eyeshadow or liner. Bright shades like coral and pink are the perfect colors to transition from summer to fall.

2) Blotting Sheets: Although September marks the transition into crisp fall weather, the beginning of the month can still be a little balmy. Blotting sheets remove excess oil that can cause shine and acne.

3) Concealer: Concealer is a godsend when it comes to hiding small blemishes and boosting your confidence. Keep it in your bag for a quick application if it begins to fade.

4) Nail Polish: Nail art is one of the biggest trends right now. With so much attention focused on your hands you'll need to keep your manicure in tip-top shape. Carry around your polish for last minute touch ups and corrections.

5) Eyeliner: As the day wears on you may find that your eyeliner fades. Use a small travel eyeliner to keep your eye makeup clean and fresh.

With all of those books in your bag you won't have room for a ton of makeup so you'll need to opt for sample sized beauty products. Subscribe to GLOSSYBOX.COM for the latest and greatest deluxe beauty samples that will keep you looking great all year.

If you're not familiar with GLOSSYBOX yet, it is a high-end beauty subscription service that delivers 5 curated luxury beauty products in a beautiful box every month, based on customers' personal beauty profiles.

Having combination skin makes getting that perfect complexion far more complicated. Sometimes oily and sometimes dry, I am constantly on the hunt for products that can help with both issues. After oscillating for several months I finally took the plunge and bought some beauty balm - also known as BB creme.

Result: Life changed! I give my gold star seal of approval to Dr. Jart+ Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm.

JARTBB.jpg

It runs $36 at Sephora, which may seem like a hefty price tag at first, but consider this: it moisturizes, helps with blemishes, minimizes pores, proves great coverage AND offers good sun protection. So at that price, it can replace up to FIVE other products, therefore that price tag actually indicates excellent value :)

As the seasons change I like to change up my beauty routine accordingly. With the heat I like the focus on getting a great glow, and protecting my skin. Here are my fave Summer beauty buys:

SummerBeauty.jpg

1. Get that Summer glow with some fierce bronzer. Be sure to dust over cheekbones and your nose for the sun-kissed look.

3. Brighten up your nails with a bold bright color - like orange!

4. Color and moisture on your lips - my favorite is Sugar

5. Lengthy lashes are always in style. Make the most of yours with Benefit's great mascara.

Boy, has the Summer arrived with a vengeance. As temperatures rise, I find I have to completely overhaul my makeup routine.  One of my go-to moves for distracting people from that Summer glow, is bright lips. There are amazing long lasting options that give a great update to your look. Right now Sephora has an awesome 8.0% Cash Back, so I am scooping up these items now:
lauramercier.jpg
This image doesn't really do this Laura Mercier tinted lip balm justice. It is actually a great coral color. It seems to last forever AND moisturizes your lips!

Nars.jpg
This Nars lip pencil will give you a seriously long lasting matte look. The red shade is that classic color that will carry well all year 'round.

Tarte.jpg
Doesn't this pink screams Summer? Tarte's bright shade is HOT right now. It is a great way to punch up any outfit!

UrbanDecay.jpg
Urban Decay offers AMAZING high impact colors that will last all day long. These are not for the faint of heart, but will look great on anyone willing to try 'em out.

FFCollage

It's officially Summer which means it's time to show a little more skin and lighten up on the cosmetics. These five beauty products are my absolute must haves to maintain a fresh and healthy glow while having a little fun in the sun.

  1. I am crazy about Butter London nail polish and Trout Pout is my absolute fav of their 5-piece Spring/Summer collection.  This color is a nearly neon shade of peach and glows against a summer tan.
  2. Oil of Olay Total Effects Tone Correcting UV tinted moisturizer is easily my favorite must have product this year.  It conceals with an SPF and tint as it heals those fine lines and wrinkles.  The sheer tint is perfect for summer and can be worn alone, without foundation or concealer.
  3. Yes to Blueberries Brightening Towelettes is the only makeup removing towelettes I've tried that I not only like, but LOVE!  All other towelettes leave me feeling as though there is a layer of product that needs to be rinsed off.   Yes to Blueberries leaves my face feeling so clean and tingly with its blueberry, lemon peel and apple extracts.
  4. I am not good at all when it comes to blending eyeshadow, so Maybelline Color Tattoo cream eyeshadow was an amazing discovery for me.  The cream is so easy to blend, is highly pigmented, and lasts all day long.  Tough as Taupe, a beautiful medium purple brown shade, goes perfectly with any eye color.  I use my finger to apply a little bit of the shadow to the outer corners of my lid and then apply a light shimmer shadow to the rest of my lid for an easy, last all day look.
  5. Argan Oil is my most recent discovery and will keep your hair frizz free while at work or at the beach.  I have very dry frizzy curly hair that I straighten every day.  I apply a dab of Argan Oil to towel dried hair right before I blow dry it and I end up with super soft "normal" hair.   It's not like those oils that just sit on your hair and don't soak in.   This actually soaks into my hair and leaves my hair feeling so soft with silky movement.
Have you tried any of these products before?  If so, what did you think?  I'd love to hear about your must have beauty products for Summer!

Sweaty Betty to the rescue! They are having a great sale - hello, 50% off - on their comfortable and cute workout gear. I know I am far more motivated to work out when I can rock some new comfortable apparel.

SweatyBetty
1. A solid and fun pair of shorts could probably make running more fun
2. A comfortable pair of yoga pants is a 'must have'
3. I am pretty sure I could live in this hoodie
4. A great pair of sneakers makes working out infinitely more pleasant
5. Comfy and breezy tank

I know it has become a bit of a cliche as far as skin care goes, but a few years ago I hopped the bandwagon, and haven't looked back: wear sunscreen every day. The benefits for your skin are seemingly endless. With incredibly sensitive skin, this is an idea that I struggled with for many years. Then a friend made a suggestion that has changed my outlook entirely:

neutrogena.jpg
Neutrogena's Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock is perfect for anyone with sensitive, combination, oil, or normal skin. It does not leave any kind of unpleasant reside on your skin; in fact, I think it gives a subtle little glow. And while you might expect this product to break obliterate your budget, it is under $10 at drugstore.com! Stock up now with your 6.0% Cash Back :)

One of the current trends that I absolutely love, despite its absurdity, is over the top nail art. I love the playful excess of it, however, I am not willing to break the bank at a salon for a manicure that I am probably going to destroy in a day or two. Lucky for me, the folks at Sally Hansen found me a solution with their Nail Effects line:
saloneffects2.jpg
While they aren't going to last more then 5 days or so, they are cheaper then a manicure, and easy to apply. You follow the simple instructions inside, and you are good to go - no dry time! They come in a great variety of colors and prints.

If you've ever happened upon Beauty on the C.H.E.A.P., you know I'm addicted to all things trendy. I had hoped that as the years went on I'd start developing a taste for "classic" and "sensible" pieces, but alas that ain't happenin' anytime soon! But here's the catch, my addiction can be be your goldmine if you too are looking for ways to stay cute and trendy without breaking the bank.

So let's talk Spring 2012, shall we? I could go on for days about my love affair with neons and pastels this year, but I'll spare you and cut right to the chase.  My internal trendometer was beeping off the charts a few months ago when I spotted what I knew was going to be huge for Spring 2012. Clutches. Of course they've been around forever, but they've taken a surprising turn this spring and have popped up in just about every apparel and accessory store in every color imaginable. So, I would be totally remiss if I didn't bring you the low down on how to score some fabulous clutches at amazing prices via Ebates' cash back incentives.
 dimepieceonadime.jpg
First stop? Target.  Sometimes I wonder why I even bother going to any other store when Target always manages to stay on trend and offer great deals on everything under the sun.

Take for instance:
  • Mossimo Black Clutch- $12.99. I know you don't normally think of black as a spring color, but trust me. You want to have a black clutch thrown in with your staples. You'll use it on date night or when you want to go for a more understated (but ever trendy) look.
  • Xhilaration® Pink Clutch- $12.99. Nothing says hello spring like a cute pink clutch. If you want to try some color blocking match this with dark skinnies, green flats, white top and voila! Chic on the cheap!
Not to be outdone, Asos.com, likewise offers great finds you can have delivered to your door completely free of charge. No minimum! And though the prices might be slightly higher than Target,  Ebates routinely offers up to date coupon codes you can use in addition to the cash back incentive. Just take a gander at these lovelies:
  1. Green ASOS Metal Bar Detail Envelope Clutch-$32.72
  2. Nude Faux Snake Skin ASOS Slot Through Envelope Clutch- $36.36
  3. Multi Colored ASOS Metal Bar Detail Envelope Clutch-$32.72
  4. Turquoise ASOS Slot Through Portfolio Clutch $36.36
For under $40 a piece all of these clutches offer the right amount of pop to any Spring outfit. What are you waiting for? Get clutchin'!

Are you tired of spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars on eyeglasses? It's quite a difficult question to answer because most of us actually need our prescription glasses to see. So the real question is: are you ready to stop paying an arm and a leg for something that should cost a fraction of that price?? Buying eyeglasses online is quickly becoming the newest phenomenon to ever hit the optical world. Since glasses have been around, they've generally been sold way over the price of cost, and until recently the optical industry was making upwards in two to three hundred percent profit! The cost to produce quality frames and actual prescription lenses truly isn't that much; so why overcharge the consumers???

GlassesUSA.com doesn't!
They guarantee that all of their customers will receive affordable prescription eyeglasses and frames without sparing any of the quality!!

Not convinced yet to buy glasses online because of all of the small and important details - like prescription knowledge, frame size, etc? GlassesUSA.com offers so many helpful tools on their site for all of those concerns! With a helpful FAQ page, and everything broken down to the smallest detail, you'll be able to put through a complicated order all by yourself! If you do have any questions or concerns they're extremely knowledgeable and helpful customer service can be reached at 1-800-917-7083.

They even offer a Virtual Mirror application that allows you to see what the frames will look like on! This will help you to choose your new pair that fits your face and your style - without a pesky salesman breathing down your neck!

Honestly, why would you even think about getting eyeglasses elsewhere? Go order glasses today!

I will openly admit that my makeup routine is boring on it's best days. Often times it is reduced to merely mascara and bronzer. I have regularly found myself increasingly jealous of Hollywood starlets with perfect, long-lasting, bright pouts (see Zooey Deschanel). I recently discovered a complete game changer for those who want bright lips without constant reapplication.

3. Eye makeup is not my expertise, however this Sephora Brand smokey eye palette makes things much more simple.

Whether it's from the extra rest and relaxation, time in the sun, or even being a bride - summer is when you radiate a natural glow. We've pulled together a few simple beauty tips that can help you maintain your radiance all season long.

Plus we want to hear from you: How do you stay Summer Beautiful? We'll select an answer to win a gift basket of Elizabeth Arden products worth over $350.

One of our favorite things about summer is spending time outside, soaking up the sun...but not too much of it. Love the sun, but protect yourself from its negative effects. Using a facial moisturizer with sunscreens is your first line of defense against skin damaging UV rays. Environmental factors, such as pollution and cigarette smoke can also be harmful to your skin. Idebenone, the powerful antioxidant found in PREVAGE® Day Ultra Protection Anti-aging Moisturizer SPF 30, helps to guard your skin against all of these skin stressors while also supporting its natural repair process to address  any existing damage.

Playing up your pout is a great way to feel dressed up on days when it's too hot to wear much makeup. To get lovely lips that last, apply a lip primer with SPF protection like our Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick SPF 15. Then layer on a lipstick in one of this season's on-trend bright shades, like coral or pink.

You can accentuate your glow by adding a touch of blush to the apples of your cheeks. A peachy shade, like our Pure Finish Mineral Powder Cheekcolor in Sunkissed Coral, will give you a soft, natural flush.

SummerGlow

Today only, you'll get Double Cash Back when you shop at ElizabethArden.com through Ebates, so "get glowing!" To enter to win the Elizabeth Arden Summer Glow Giveaway, submit your answer to "How do you stay Summer beautiful?" in the comments of this post or on the Ebates Facebook wall before Friday July 29 at 11:59 PM PST. Check back here on Monday when we'll post the "glowing" winner!

GuavacolorSince it's health and beauty week here at Ebates, I thought now would be a great time to share my favorite summer lip color! In seasons past, I was pretty conservative when it came to my make up. You wouldn't have caught me wearing any super bright hues. That changed forever when I discovered Bobbi Brown's Cosmic Raspberry. Cosmic Raspberry is a pink so bright you gotta wear shades! I rocked that color proudly all Spring long, that is until Bobbi Brown's Guava Lip Color came into my life.

I dare you to find a lipstick that's a more perfect combination of coral and pink. Guava instantly brightens my smile and I've seen it work on a variety of skin tones. In my humble opinion, coral and Summer go hand in hand. So, if you're going to purchase one new lip color this summer, I urge you to make it Bobbi Brown's Guava! And if you purchase it through Ebates, you'll earn 4.0% cash back. So, what are you waiting for?

While we're on the subject of beauty, I hope you'll join BonBon Rose Girls for a live health and beauty chat over at the Savvy Living Community on 6/23 from 7-8 PM EST! We'll be chatting about all things health and beauty related and some fabulous prizes will be up for grabs too! Mark your calendars lovelies!

travelsizedToday's guest blogger is Shereen from Shereen Travels Cheap. We've love her no-nonsense advice on traveling smart while on a budget, and we're thrilled to have her dish out advice on another savvy topic: travel and beauty.

Packing light is a must when traveling and those 3-1-1 bags aren't that big, especially when you're flying during the summer and have to squeeze sunscreen in there, too. While you can buy it once you get there, many resorts, theme parks and grocery stores have outrageous prices on these items. I have ways you can find room in your travel bag for sunscreen and still look great in all your pictures.

Tinted Moisturizer - You may be used to taking your foundation wherever you go, but a tinted moisturizer can do double-duty as a foundation and a moisturizer. Most have built-in SPF, so you don't have to bring a second sunscreen specifically for your face.

Powder Foundation - Avoid taking two products and opt for just one with a powder foundation. Not only does it save space, but a good one, like Philosophy Supernatural Airbrushed Canvas, will be long-lasting and give you a flawless finish over your moisturizer. This can be paired with tinted moisturizer to give you more coverage.

Tinted Lip Gloss - Get a fresh summery look by bringing along a tinted lip gloss that also moisturizes. Leave your heavy lipstick at home and you also won't have to tote around a tube of lip balm. Smashbox O-Gloss brings out the natural hue of your lips, plus it gives you a slight shine and locks in moisture.

Trial Sizes - Those fun trial sizes that you get with makeup purchases are your best friend on vacation. Save those tiny tubes of mascara, lip glosses, and eye shadows, and pack them in your travel bag.

Shampoo bars - Shampoo and conditioner can take up a lot of room and also contribute the most to spillage in your bag. There's nothing worse than getting to your destination and having to wash off everything in your 3-1-1 bag because your shampoo or conditioner exploded. Shampoo bars don't ever have to go in your liquids bag, they never spill and are super easy to use. They work just like a bar of soap and have all the benefits of a great shampoo. You can even get solid conditioners which will leave your hair silky and manageable.

Use Ebates to save even more on your beauty purchases, too. With awesome stores like Sephora, Philosophy, Ulta, Drugstore.com and many more, you can find everything you need for your trip, look like a million bucks, and save a few dollars, too!

What should you look for when choosing an effective probiotic supplement?  The four main points to consider that I discuss in my PBS show are as follows:

Look for high culture count.

The culture count refers to the total amount of live, friendly bacterial cultures in a single serving. You need a least 15 billion cultures to begin to make an impact on your health--often more depending upon age or health-related concern.

Check out the number of strains.

There are over 1,000 strains of beneficial bacteria in the gut.  Probiotics with a variety of strains most closely resembles the diversity that naturally exists in the gut. It's important to get a variety of strains because each person's body has a different bacterial footprint and utilizes some bacterial strains better than others.

Make sure the capsule is designed for delayed release.

Probiotics must travel through the harsh stomach environment and be delivered to the intestines to be effective. Delayed-release capsules are engineered to remain intact through the stomach and begin dissolving in the intestine, where they are needed most.

Look for potency at time of expiration, not manufacture.

Any probiotic is fresh when manufactured, but very few remain at full strength through their expiration date. A probiotic supplement, with the right amount of cultures and strains, can help promote digestive health, and strengthen the body's natural immune defenses.

Get your savings today and live clean!

Yours in Health,

Brenda Watson

Spring is a time to renew, reconsider, and re-plan. Take a second look at your wardrobe, redesign your living space, or (and this could arguably be the most important) readdress your beauty products. Warmer weather is the perfect time to discard old, or unused items. Stay fresh, look great, and earn cash back with Ebates!
SpringBeautyEssentials
1. Spring makeup should reveal more you, and than makeup. Before the sun takes it's toll on your cheeks, spruce them up with this Bobbi Brown Blush Pot. It works on both cheeks and lips, and gives subtle color.

2. Spring/Summer in the city means hot, grimy streets. I like to carry a travel pack of Baby Wipes, so that even after a crowded bus ride I can freshen up and feel clean.

3. Neon nail color is gross, period. To achieve a Spring themed nail, think pale tones like neutrals, and soft corals. This Essie Nail Polish comes in three subtle colors, and will look great on my nails.

4. Humid weather is a girl's worst enemy. Then again, so is dry hair. No matter what the season, Josie Maran's Argan Oil Hair Serum is a sure bet against flyaways, frizz, and even split ends. Smooth a drop on your ends and watch as your hair takes an unexpected turn.

5. Joe Malone makes deliciously smelling candles, mists, and dry body oils. For the days when you need a bit of moisture (essential before baring all in a skirt) try rubbing some of her Pear and Freesia Body Oil on your legs.

6. If you're reading this and over the age of 25, then you've already seen the damaging results of too much sun. To prevent further damage, keep sunscreen handy. This Mineral Sunscreen adds protective SPF without greasy creams or smelly lotions, and doubles as added coverage.

I don't care about resolutions. Yup, you read that right, I do not care. My indifference doesn't stem from failed attempts of the past, nor does it mean I think I'm perfect and need no improvement. I simply don't see the need to make drastic changes due to the calendar reading January 1st. Nothing is different on this day, and it holds no more (or less) meaning than, insert random date here. The truth is I try to live a better and healthier life almost everyday. I say almost because let's face it, there are some days in which doing everything unhealthy (like spending the entire day on the couch) feels so, so, good.

This blog isn't about those days, it's about the proactive ones.

Yoga MatI could use images of athletic couples in spandex to entice you to take action, but we both know neither of us will ever look like that. My health goal is to be healthy, period. A bit more exercise, vitamins everyday, splurges occasionally. One thing I wanted to take up this year was Yoga and seeing that I can shop Gaiam through Ebates and get 7.5% Cash Back, it only makes sense to shop for a Yoga Mat. I choose this one because I like the color scheme, I have no idea what the symbols mean. Considering this would cost me the same if not more in a fancy pants yoga studio, I'm glad to get a little something back.

green drinkAnother healthy habit I want to adopt is daily intake of a Green Drink. Yes, it tastes like fish food, and yes it looks unnatural, but I swear on my life; drink one heaping spoonful each day and you'll notice a difference within one week. Your cravings will subside, you'll have more energy, and you'll find yourself desiring healthy food options. I found this at drugstore.com where I can get 12.0% Cash Back as opposed to 0% cash back and 10% tax due at my local store.

Neither of these items will cause drastic side effects, and both may be a phase, but the point isn't to kill myself with unrealistic expectations. The point is to take steps to ensure a healthier life. Oh and the added cash in my pocket can be put towards my next goal: shopping. Call it what you will, but if you're looking to make healthy steps, check out our New Year New You sale. You'll find plenty of options for healthy living and and of course, you'll get cash back. Enjoy!

Holiday StressBefore the holidays get the best of you (if they haven't already) take advice from today's guest blogger: Dr.Sinatra from Healthy Directions.

Fortify Your Body with "Anti-Stress" Vitamins

The holidays can be a time of stress and feeling overwhelmed. Many of us struggle with over packed schedules and family expectations. Thankfully, there are a number of natural measures you can take to help you reduce stress and even treat yourself during the holiday season. B vitamins are often called the "stress vitamins" because they're quickly depleted from your body during times of stress. That's because your body needs B vitamins to create the feel-good neurotransmitter serotonin. Plus, they give you the energy you need during times of stress (and shopping and cooking and wrapping and....).

Give Yourself the Gift of Massage

Massage is steeped in emotional benefits. The most obvious is its reduction of tension and stress. A brief massage can bring about a deep sense of peace and relaxation. In fact, some studies have found that massage can stimulate the production of chemicals such as serotonin, which are related to the body's innate relaxation response. In a word, massage makes you feel good.

Diffuse Your Stress with Exercise

One of the best antidotes for stress is physical activity. Exercise not only works the stress out of your muscles, it also stimulates your body's creation of feel-good endorphins.

A mile of walking--at any speed--burns as many calories as a mile of running, and I've rarely heard of people injuring muscles, ligaments, or joints while walking. I recommend walking every day for a minimum of 20 to 30 minutes. To really up the stress-busting benefits, walk with a friend. Sharing time with those you love is a wonderful part of the holidays, so why not walk off the stress together.

Look at the Glass as Half Full

Research has found that optimists are not only happier, they're also healthier, live longer, and recover from illnesses better than those with less cheery outlooks. One way to start each day on the right foot is to think about what you are grateful for. However, don't just rattle off a list. Really take the time to contemplate your feelings about each thing and internalize how each positive feature makes your life better.

Breathe!

Proper breathing is one way to reduce stress. The next time you feel stressed take a deep breath and sigh deeply. After several breaths, you should be aware of how much more you need to breathe and how much relief it offers you.

In short, offset the stress with the tips I've given you, and remember that, first and foremost, the holidays are a time of joy, gratitude, and love. This is by far the best gift you can give to yourself and your loved ones!

Hello Ebates! This is Alyson from The Gloss Menagerie, and I am thrilled to be guest blogging for Ebates!

As a beauty blogger I often get asked what products are good and what products to avoid. Today I'll be discussing low-cost cosmetic brand E.L.F., or Eyes Lips Face and answering the age old question; Is a budget friendly cosmetic brand too good to be true, or a treasure trove of cheap thrills? The answer is yes and no. Like all makeup brands there are wins and looses. Here are my top picks. Enjoy!

Top ELF Picks

Eyelash CurlerMechanical Eyelash Curler - E.L.F. has three eyelash curlers and the cheapest one is my favorite. I actually have no preference between this $1 curler and the much higher priced Shu Uemura curler. They're both great for my eye shape and provide an excellent curl. However, if you have a flatter curve to your eyes, you may not like this curler. I find it works best for rounded eyes. The ergonomic handle design makes curling your eyelashes a breeze!

Shadow PrimerMineral Eyeshadow Primer - E.L.F. designed this to be used with their mineral eyeshadows, but it works great with any shadow. This is part of their mineral line and therefore is at a slightly higher price point of $3, but it's still quite the bargain. This primer will perform well for almost any occasion. If you have VERY oily lids I would recommend using something stronger, but for anyone else this should be fine!

Zit ZapperZit Zapper - I am planning to review this on my own blog in-depth, but here's a little sneak peek! The Zit Zapper is a unique spot treatment for acne for just a dollar that REALLY works. Packed with ingredients such as salicylic acid, tea tree oil, and camphor, the Zit Zapper does a fantastic job of drying out and healing acne breakouts. I dab it on at night and breakouts look significantly better in the morning. Because there's no messy creams and the liquid goes on completely clear, this product is very user-friendly. Guys will feel comfortable using this one too as the packaging is completely unisex.

LipstickLipstick - Both the $1 lipstick and the $5 mineral lipsticks are fantastic! The formula goes on smooth and creamy with excellent pigmentation. The Mineral line offers better choice of colors, but the $1 lipsticks are newer so I would imagine more colors are in the works.

Powder BrushPowder Brush (Studio Line) - This brush is amazing. It's one of my most used makeup brushes in my entire stash, and I have several extras for my kit. I use this brush to apply powder foundation. I get full even coverage because of the densely packed bristles with a flat top. This brush is also great for blending out liquid foundation, contouring, or applying blush and bronzer. If I had to pick just one product to recommend to try, I'd probably pick this brush because of its super high quality and many uses.

As ELF grows, I have seen their products get better and better. I really like them overall as a brand because not only do they have some fantastic products (at even better prices), but they really listen to their consumers. Products requested in their forum discussions often make their way to the line within months. It's so refreshing to see that! Have you tried E.L.F.? What are some of your favorites? Least Favorites?

As a beauty blogger for ClumpsofMascara, my girlfriends think that I use a dozen products a day. So not true! While I review a myriad of products and brands, I like to use affordable and natural products pretty regularly. Here are just a few of my favorites...

Olive OilOlive oil. I have enough olive oil to last me until 2011. And I wish I was joking. Olive oil is my absolute favorite oil. It's gentle enough to use on my body after a shower, mix in a homemade facial scrub, and on my hair if my scalp gets a little dry. And did I mention I use it in my salads? Oh...yeah. MotherNature.com has a wide selection of Olive Oil products ranging from soaps to night creams and of course the original.

Castile SoapCastile soap. Castile soap has endless uses! Aside from using it to clean my kitchen and bathroom, it also works great on my skin and hair. The unscented version allows me to add my own essential oils creating my own scent. Loves it! MotherNature.com offers countless options like this Dr.Bronner's Castile Soap in lavender scent. You'll get 7.0% Cash Back.

Baking SodaBaking Soda. Baking soda is another one of those products that I stole from the kitchen. Who knew it would make a fabulous scrub when combined with my favorite facial cleanser? And when my hair accumulates build-up, baking soda massaged in my scalp leaves my locks cleaner than clean. This brand of baking soda can be found at drugstore.com and you'll get 6.0% Cash Back!

Peppermint OilPeppermint essential oil. While I have a number of essential oils, I find myself reaching for Peppermint Oil daily. A few drops in a spray bottle of water spritzed all over my hair instantly refreshes my locks. And after a work-out, a spritz all over my face energizes me. I found this at Vitacost where I received 4.0% Cash Back

Honorable Mention. Water. It helps keep me hydrated, keeps my skin clear, my hair moisturized, and I could go on and on.

So that's it, my essential beauty products that you'll find in your local market but I prefer to shop through Ebates and reap the rewards of cash back!

Chic blogger LeRougeStylo gives her advice on how to look hot when the weather's hotter.

There's nothing quite like a summer date night; grabbing gelato after dinner and a movie, sitting outside with your date and looking up at the stars. Achieving a stellar beauty look can be a bit of a challenge June through September thanks to humidity that makes a mess of your makeup to mosquitoes looking to make you their meal. Simplify your life and conquer the elements with these easy tips.

No-More-ShineSet the baseline -  After washing use an oil-free mattifying moisturizer like Clean and Clean Pore Perfector from drugstore.com to keep your skin from getting too shiny as things heat up. Let this soak in a few minutes before applying a makeup primer. I'm a fan of Smashbox Photo Finish available at Beauty.com. The primer will help keep your makeup in place and as well as smooth out imperfections, fine lines and minimize pores.

Use a light hand - It's a simple summer date ladies- you're not going to be seen in high-def. Heavy layers are not only uncomfortable, but tend to melt off in hot weather. Don't smear or spackle anything on. A touch of tinted moisturizer or lesser amount of your foundation is perfect. Feel free to use concealer for blemishes and dark circles. Use a big fluffy brush to set your foundation with a powder that is going to help battle shine, like Clarins Shine Stopper pressed powder from Clarins.com.
Say-Yes-To-Color
Don't be afraid of color - Now is the time to try out that turquoise eyeshadow, bright purple eyeliner, or fuchsia blush. Just not all at once, this is Summer 2010 not Prom 1983. The key is to apply lightly at first and then layer on for a bolder look. Try a makeup palette with fun options like Urban Decay's Deluxe Shadow Box or Sephora's Color Play 5-in-1 Palette both available at Sephora.com.

Mist and go - Spritzing your face post-makeup with a setting spray further ensures your makeup stays put. Clarins Fix Make-Up Mist Clarins.com is a solid choice that not only sets, but hydrates.

Skin So SoftNobody likes a mosquito bite - For whatever reason, mosquitoes feast on me the second I step outside. But I refuse to douse myself in a chemical bath before a date, so instead I apply Skin So Soft Bath Oil available at Avon.com. The oil has a pleasant smell and keeps me from being mosquito dessert. Another tip - avoid fragrances that have sweet, fruity, or floral notes as they attract mosquitoes.

Have a great time!

Emily-Blunt-for-Vanity-FairAs a fan of period films like Pride & Prejudice and Gone With The Wind, I am no stranger to smelling salts. Their use by fragile women in overly dramatic situations does put a smile on my face but it also brings up a valid question; what ever happened to perfume? And I don't mean the nauseating trail left by overzealous women, but rather the quick spritz to freshen up one's day, or in more serious matters to guard against intolerable nasal cruelties like the crowded bus, and the close proximity to whomever dealt it. It's with this new found interest in pleasing my third sense that I head over to ULTA Beauty for a bit of shopping, virtual spritzing, and earning of cash.

Sula PerfumeNot long into my escapade did I land on Sula Roll On Perfume Collection. A perfect assortment of travel sized scents with cheeky names such as Butterfly Kiss, Champagne Sugar, and Stiletto Musk, there's something to satisfy every mood, and soften every offense. Better yet they're small enough to carry anywhere (read - stale airplanes) and with a roll on application, you needn't worry about offending the person next to you. From now until July 31st you'll save 20% sitewide at ULTA Beauty with code EBATES20OFF, not to mention you'll get 3.0% Cash Back. Being properly armed against the mishaps of a city is pleasing, yet the addition to my cash back account (now well over $300) is producing a light headed effect. Could these women have been suffering not from fatigue, but from cash back induced frenzy?

The gorgeous gam above is none other than Emily Blunt in April's Vanity Fair.

This week's guest blogger is Brooke from BlushingNoir. As a full time beauty guru she knows the best places to shop. Like Sephora!

With 450 stores in the US and locations in 13 countries it's no wonder Sephora is a household name for beauty products. Here are just a few reasons why I can't get enough!

Sephora Beauty InsiderReason #1 - V.I.B.

Sephora boasts a VIP (or VIB - Very Important Beauty Insider) program that gives exclusive perks such as discounts, free samples, contests and more. Think of it as a bonus for shopping Sephora. Your Beauty Insider Card works both online and in stores, but with free shipping over $50 and 4.0% Cash Back from Ebates, it pays to shop online.

Tip: Shipping is free if your purchase is $50 or more, but be on the lookout for coupon codes that offer free shipping with a $25 purchase.

Reason #2 - Skincare Challenge

In addition to V.I.B. rewards, by shopping for your skincare at Sephora you can enroll in the Skincare Challenge. I love the concept -  for each skincare purchase over $20 you'll receive 1 credit. After accruing 4 credits you're eligible for one of three full sized featured products. Free! You can always hold off until something more to your liking is featured, but keep in mind items are switched on a needed basis. As much as I love the rewards program I'd like to see customers be able to pick out any skincare product they desire, as long as it's under a set dollar amount. Let's face it, as women we all have different skin types and tones, and we're looking to target different areas. Factor in different ages, and well, you get the point!

Sale!Tip: While you're shopping the website make sure to check out the sale section for savings of up to 75% off. Check back often, it's updated frequently and the best items sell out fast!

Reason #3 - Customer Service

One of the things that makes Sephora so unique is their hassle free return policy. They will take anything back, whether you have the receipt or not. It's refreshing especially in this economy, to see a business stand behind their brands and products! The customer service that I've encountered at Sephora.com and in Sephora stores is nothing short of stellar. Returns and exchanges are also FREE. When your order arrives a return label will be included for fast and easy service.

Reason #4 - Beauty Updates

I love to follow Sephora on Twitter and Facebook for up to date information regarding awesome sales, exclusive products, contests and bonus incentives. No beauty guru can resist!

For a lot of women (me included) the letter "B" takes on a sinister meaning when summer rolls around. Beach, bathing suit, and bikini...well you get the picture! If you're not in tiptop shape before your foot hits the water, then your plans for fun in the sun could be a wash out.

How do you make sure you're ready for the swimsuit season? For starters, a healthy diet plan is a must. focus28diet.com has a downloadable FREE High Protein Meal Plan Manual that guides you in customizing a routine for your individual weight loss goals. Not only is focus28diet.com a great source for weight loss food and tips for success, they're offering either $10 OFF orders of $50+ (through July 31st) with promo code LS10OFF50 or FREE SHIPPING on orders of $75+ until the end of the year.

As all of us diehard diet divas know, eating nutritious, healthy food is only part of the battle. Exercise plays a big part and the warm weather give you the chance to chill out while eliminating unwanted calories. Since it's not healthy to run in high temperatures, take the plunge in the nearest pool for some water walking and aerobics ...it's fun (a whole lot cooler) and you could be burning 400-800 calories! Here are some tips on how to get started:

  • Warm up by walking the perimeter of the pool, then jogging in it.
  • In the shallow end, do 60 seconds each of walking lunges, squats, and leg lifts to the front side and back, holding on to the edge.
  • If you use an aqua free weight or flow tie it increase the feeling of resistance & will add the perfect intensity to your workout.
  • Finish working the lower body with flutter kicks holding the edge or using a kickboard.
  • Finally, submerge to the neck and do chest presses, reverse flies, bicep curls, and arm circles to work the upper body.

Hey guys - this work out is good for you too and your own personal meal plan will help you get buff for your romps on the beach.

As you can tell, I have lots (and I mean LOTS) of personal experience in the world of diet dining. That's why I'm glad there are now so many great choices for healthy, high protein foods that actually taste good and are good for you. What's your "red light" food(s)? Check out these awesome shakes, smoothies and puddings that are sure to satisfy your sweet tooth without packing on the pounds. And if your downfall is the in between meal munchies, I've found a great selection of healthy snacks.

Don't let rainy days get your down. Just follow the focus28.com Iso-Towel 5-minute workout will speed up your metabolism by combining fat burning, strength and stretch and can be done anytime or anywhere with just a towel!

Good luck...keep cool and stay slim this summer with focus28diet.com!

These days, most people tend to avoid the sun on their face. Not only are sunburns painful, but extreme sun-damage can cause premature wrinkling and even cancer. Good thing there are tons of products out there that can help give your skin that sun-kissed glow without the risk of skin damage. I find that the best fool-proof way to fake a glow is through bronzers. While I am a huge advocate of self-tanners, they take a while for the color to develop and tend to require a lot of upkeep. Bronzers on the other hand are easy to apply and you can control how much glow you want. The important thing to keep in mind when selecting bronzers, is that they are not all created for every skin tone. Fair, medium and dark skin all need to choose different shades for the color to look natural and seamless. I have taken the guess work out of which shade to choose depending on your skin tone. I'd also recommend looking for formulas with little or no shimmer, they look much more natural and a far easier to apply. Here are my three choices available at Sephora where you will earn 4.0% Cash Back from Ebates, five free samples with your order and free shipping on $50+.

twofacedbronzer.jpgFor light skin, try Two Faced Caribbean In A Compact in Sun Bunny. The Dual color compact will make it easy to customize and contour even for the lightest skin. Get it at Sephora for $27.

Medium skin tones have the most leeway. I like Guerlain Terracotta Bronzer in Terracotta 3. It isTerracotta-Bronzer.jpg a warm, rich bronze that will look great on medium skin. Get it for $47 ( I know it is steep, but I have literally had mine for years) also from Sephora.

narscasinobronzer.jpgAnd last, for dark skin tones pick up Nars bronzing powder in Casino. It is the perfect shade with very subtle shimmer that will highlight all the right places.pick yours up through this link.

narssheerglowFlip through any fashion and beauty magazine or tune into any blog and you will likely see some kind of reference to healthy, glowing skin and how to achieve it. Tricks on how to turn dull and pallid skin into a glowing and healthy complexion are a dime a dozen. Of course, drinking lots of water, getting enough sleep and maintaining a healthy diet are indispensable components to looking and feeling your best, but there are other ticks of the trade that can lend a helping hand too.  Of all the products I have tried, documented here, here and here, I have truly found one that reigns above the rest in actually delivering a lovely glow. This NARS Sheer Glow Foundation is truly a complexion miracle worker. Most of us need some coverage to make our skin look its best and this formula provides just the right amount without masking the skin. Plus, it is made with a proven skin brightening complex, found to brighten the completion and soften lines in just twenty-eight days. And good news for those of us who battle with changing skin texture depending on the season. hair-oilSummer is a good time of year for so many things we love; cook-outs, long days, outdoor sports, skimpy clothing and sun-tans. One thing Summer is not good for is hair. No matter what your hair type or which climate you live in, this season brings some bad-hair conditions that in turn require a little extra effort to tame. The biggest hair concern for most women is frizz as a result of humid temperatures. Luckily there are a ton of products on the market to help smooth frizz and keep hair sleek and smooth no matter how humid it gets. I'm sure you have heard many things about hair oils these days because of the effectiveness of these formulas on frizzy, dry and unmanageable hair- all common characteristics of Summer tresses. I have tried a few brands but the big name out there is the Moroccan Oil. Seen in countless magazines and promoted by stars and taste-makers like Rachel Zoe and Allure Magazine, this treatment is the answer to a frizzy headed girls prayers. Because it is so popular, it is hard to find and many stores have sold out. Although, you can get your hands on a bottle through eBay and earn cash back and free shipping in the process.

beach-leave-in
Another common Summer hair problem is dryness and color fading from too much time in the sun or from salt water and chlorine. One way to prevent this is to wear a hat ( like these stylish hair and skin protectors) but, that is not always possible, especially when you are swimming or playing in the sun. Luckily you can protect your hair from sun and chemical damage with products from Frederick Fekkai's Summer Hair Collection, avaliable with 8.0% Cash Back and and additional 20% off at Skinstore.com. If I am out in the sun, I always pre-treat my hair with Beachcomber Leave-In Conditioner, formulated with moisture boosters, shine enhancers and a UV filter. Find also shampoo and conditioner and styling treatments in the same line.

Those who read the Ebates blog might have noticed Poppy and I have different areas of expertise. While we both share a passion bordering on obsession with fashion, we split when it comes to other categories. Poppy lends her knowledge on Health and Beauty while I give design advice a la the Home and Garden category. This being Health and Beauty Week, I've joined Poppy in my indulging of beauty items. Below are just a few of my must haves this season and they're all available at Sephora.

Umbrian Clay FoundationAbout two years ago I made the switch to more natural makeup, and after what seemed like a never ending period of trial and error I've fallen in love with Fresh. Their Umbrian Clay Foundation gives me just the right amount of coverage but without the caked on look. Being that I wear makeup to even out my skin tone instead of hide it, I love feeling covered while still being able to see natural traits like my freckles. Another thing I love is getting double cash back or 8.0% Cash Back at Sephora plus free shipping on orders over $50. Also great is Fresh's Umbrian Clay Concealer. I use it to cover those pesky under eye dark spots, a common trait with olive skinned women.

Tarte Cheek StainSpeaking of olive skin, Summer time is a time of relief. Typically we tan easier, and after spending the winter months with yellowish skin it's nice to be a bronzed beauty. Another upside to olive skin is being able to play with different shades of blush. Corals, shades of orange, and even pinks can look great against my skin tone, but despite numerous choices I always stick to my Tarte Cheek Stain in Natural Beauty. Just one color is appropriate for all seasons, and the tube lasts forever. Aside from long lasting, this cheek stain also has nutritional ingredients like goji berry and vitamin C so it makes the perfect tinted moisturizer for my lips.

Redcurrent BasilAsk anyone and they'll tell you I'm not a fan of fragrances, yet Redcurrent Basil by Fresh (I told you I loved them) is something I wouldn't mind spritzing everyday. As part of their fragrance line, this is just one of several made with natural ingredients and available in scents like Fig Apricot, Cannabis Santal, Bergamot Citrus, and Sake. Although this is a Health and Beauty blog, I must add the lovely shape of this bottle adds a chic design aethestic to your boudoir or bath!

Unless you live in a climate that is perpetually warm there comes that moment every year when one must take a long, hard look at their body after it has been covered for months. This exact event happened to me a few weeks ago when San Francisco was blessed with the first sunny and warm streak this year. I was prepared for my ghostly white legs and took the right measures to "take the edge off" ( find out how here). But, what I did not foresee was less-than tight skin, bumps and marks; just about every skin ailment that would keep me from feeling confident in my newly purchased skirts, slouchy shorts and dresses. Luckily, I know of a few solutions and in the past week and half, I launched a full-fledged Summer skin revival. All I needed was the right tools and some dedication and now my legs are looking much better; slightly less white and ready to wear favorite warm-weather gear.

weleda-birch-body-scrub-cel.jpg
Any skincare professional will stress the importance of exfoliation. Whether it is a doctor or an esthetician, the first thing they will ask is if you exfoliate. While it seems that a buffing body wash or some TLC with a washcloth would do the trick, proper exfolation requires either a physical exfoliant ( body scrubs made with sugar, nuts, pumice etc.) or a chemical exfoliant ( salicylic acid or glycolic acid). For body, I tend to prefer physical exfolants because find you can really pin-point problem areas like knees, back of legs, heels and give them a good scrub. I have tried everything out there from the expensive scrubs to the cheaper drugstore versions. And while it mostly comes down to personal preference, I have found that a middle of the road, all natural scrub is really doing the trick. This Welda Birch Body Scrub has literally transformed my legs from bumpy to smooth in a matter of weeks. Formulated with natural plant waxes and oils, this scrub is both effective and gentle on the skin. Buy it with the brand's Birch Cellulite Oil for the complete regimen and literally watch while the condition of your skin improves. Both are moisturizing and will keep your skin glowing, smooth and taut. Buy both from Vitacost for 40% off the retail price, super-fast shipping and 5.0% Cash Back.

tartejpgSummer is right around the corner and all I can think about  are ways I can update my look for warmer temperatures and sunny days. I mostly have the fashion side covered. I have updated my wardrobe with a few fashion items and I am still on the hunt for some accessories. What I have neglected to do is address my Summer beauty regime. One thing that I tend to do every Summer is get an eye lash tint. When it is warmer out, my mascara tends to flake more, my eyes feel more sensitive and when its very hot ( which its rarely is in San Francisco, but nonetheless) simplifying the beauty regime as much as possible is key. But, lash tinting can be expensive and even painful especially for those with sensitive eyes. Luckily, the brains in the beauty biz have already come up with a solution in the form of at home lash tints. This one, from Tarte is made with natural ingredients and tints lashes for up to four days. Plus it is fortified with vitamins and a unique PolyFlex™ technology for easy application. Pick it up at Sephora for just $18 and 4.0% Cash Back From Ebates.

JemmaKiddMasc
Another great option that is generating a lot of buzz in the beauty world comes from renowned makeup artist Jemma Kidd. The Lasting Lash Tint formula provides salon finish lash tinting and is 100% waterproof and smudge resistant. Plus, it comes in two shades, deep black and rich brown for a more natural look. Pick this up at Beauty.com, for $22 with 6.0% Cash Back and free gifts galore.

ptrconcealerA few weeks ago, I was flipping though a magazine grazing for new beauty products to try when I stumbled upon this unexpected and intriguing gem: Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Concealer/Brightener. As a leading brand in anti-aging skincare, I never really looked to PTR for innovations on the makeup font, however this product combines skincare innovation with a makeup staple, making it a great multi-tasker. After reading about it, I did a search for it online and discovered that it has sold out of many of our Health and Beauty Stores! Unlike other people who would give up or wait for a restock, I had to have it. Luckily, Beauty.com has a few left in the light/medium shade. Even more lucky was this discovery coincided with Beauty.com's Friends and Family Sale, where you can get 20% off, 6.0% Cash Back and free shipping on every order. Originally $35, I'll save $7 with just the Friends and Family discount alone. Plus, I will get the satisfaction of sharing it with you before the rest of them sell out and before the Friends and Family Sale ends tonight!

coppertoneI recently read about this Coppertone Sensitive Skin sunblock and gave it a try. Formulated with Zinc Oxide, this sunblock is suitable for the most sensitive skin and will protect against broad spectrum UVA/UVB rays. The SPF 50 cream glides on skin, does not leave a dreaded white cast and withstands a good amount of sweating, towel drying and swimming. This is a great sunblock for kids and those with fair skin. Currently it is on sale for $8.99 with an additional $3 off all Coppertone items.

One of the most raved about sun care lines is La Roche-Posay. If you are looking for daily sun protection with a face moisturizer, the Anthelios SX Daily Moisturizing Sunscreen with Mexoryl, SPF 15, is a great formula. This sunblock works under makeup and protects and moisturizes skin for hours. La Roche-Posay uses an extremely effective chemical block in all of their sunscreens that provides extreme protection. Find an array of formulas and varying SPF levels in the line.

vitamincpowderLately it seems that every week there is a new miracle ingredient in skincare. Every product claims to have all the right ingredients to fight aging and free-radicals with the most anti-oxidant protection. In light of all of the conflicting information out there, it is hard to know what is true and to determine which ingredients are proven wrinkle-fighters and which are pretty much useless. As always, I recommend seeking out information from a health care professional who can address your particular needs. However, in general, a rule of thumb I tend to live by in terms of skincare ingredients is that if it is good for me to ingest and I can pronounce it, it is probably good for my skin. Case in point: Vitamin C. We all know that Vitamin C is good for your immune system and a vital ingredient for overall health. What you may not know, is that topical Vitamin C is great for skin and one of the only ingredients proven to protect skin from sun-damage, one of the leading causes of premature aging. Vitamin C also helps reduce inflammation, evens skin tone and helps to impart a healthy glow. Now before you go out and buy a new skincare regime packed with Vitamin C, test out how it works with your skin with Philosophy's Turbo Booster C Powder for just $35 and 3.5% Cash Back from Ebates. This powder can boost the effectiveness of your current products ( you add a touch of the powder to your morning moisturizer) and boasts the 99.8% potency of Vitamin C. Just a few days of using this powder in my daily moisturizer and I could already tell a difference in my skin in terms of clarity and tone. And what's even better, I didn't have to buy another moisturizer.

Like many women, I am somehow constantly in the process of growing out my hair. Rather than being content with the length of the moment, I always wish for longer hair or decide to sabotage the entire project and lop it all off. I am not sure if it is a way to pass the time or an effort to keep my look interesting but either way, my hair style is always in flux. And I am not alone. My current hair obsession is optimum health. I am growing out my natural hair color, banishing styling tools and investing in hair care products that will bring my hair to its most healthy state. I feel almost like my hair is on a detox diet and if you have ever tried something like that, you know the process is not always pretty. But the result is where your hard work pays off. AlexwangbraidWhile I retrain my hair to live without styling tools and hair color, I have been struggling to get creative with ways to style it. Luckily, braids are still a huge trend this year and also a great hairstyle for any person with a length/texture/color issue. My inspiration is from the loose side braids seen at the Alexander Wang runway show. This side braid look has been popular since the Spring 2010 runway debut because most women are in the same boat as me and want a hairstyle that is easy to do and looks good no matter what condition your hair is in. All you will need are some basic hair tools, a good shampoo that will smooth the hair shaft and some practice braiding your hair. Start with a quality shampoo like this from Kerastase, avaliable at Drugstore.com with 6.0% Cash Back. You want to make sure that your hair is smooth and full of body. Next, use a good paddle brush to add a little volume to the hair to achieve the messy look on top. Use the brush to put a deep side part in your hair and brush the excess length. Make sure to have bobbi pins and clear, inconspicuous hair ties on hand, these are ideal from Sephora. Braid your hair down the side and leave some messy pieces out, this look is not precise at all. Pin back any layers that do not fit into the braid and finish it all off with a shine-enhancing hair spray like this one from Beauty.com, where you will also get 6.0% Cash Back.

kiehlsmistJust as difficult as buying a gift for someone when you have no idea what to get them, is when you need to buy a gift for someone and you have too many options. This is the problem I run into when I need to buy my mom a gift. Because we share similar interests and I know exactly what her taste is, I see things all the time that I want her to have. Another layer of difficulty results from our  Mother's Day promotion. With twelve of my favorite stores offering increased cash back and coupons for extra savings, I had so many options for places to get the right thing. Before I started shopping, I needed to have a gift in mind to avoid being completely overwhelmed. Luckily, one of my favorite blogs, Refinery 29 had the perfect Mother's Day Gift Guide to help me in my hunt. They featured this Jeff Koons for Kiehl's Acai Damage-Protecting Toning Mist (proceeds go to support the Rainforest Alliance), avaliable at Nordstrom for $26 and with 5.0% Cash Back. This Limited-Edition product is avaliable in four collectible bottles designed by Jeff Koons ( as pictured left) Malia Jones, Julianne Moore or Pharell Williams.

Not only is the bottle a piece of art and the product inside truly amazing, but my mom will love that the money that paid for her gift went to a great cause. I personally love a toning spray for the warmer months as they make a great mid-day skin refresher and prep the face for sunscreen and makeup. I know my mom will love it too and because it is full of the best organic certified ingredients, I will know its good for her too. Alas! I found the perfect gift!

Exclusivity is never frowned upon in certain circles. From private sale sites to member only coupons, in the world of shopping it's better when you're part of the club. Of course no one knows this like Ebates members. Not only do they get special insights to the latest and biggest sales, but they also get exclusive coupons. Being that today is Earth Day, it only made sense for Ebates to team up with drugstore.com and present our VIP members with a coupon that can help save mother earth, as well as the other green. Cash Back!

From now until April 26th, you'll save $5 off orders of $30 in the green/natural category at drugstore. Whether you're a seasoned eco-head or brand new to the world of natural and organic products, you'll earn 6.0% Cash Back when shopping at drugstore. In the spirit of today I thought I'd share some of my favorite natural items, from household cleaning products to hair and skin care.

Ecover Cream ScrubHousehold Cleaning
If you have ever taken a moment to decipher the ingredients in your favorite cleaner you'll find some pretty nasty stuff. Bleach, ammonia, petro-chemicals (meaning they're derived from oil products) and other carcinogenic ingredients are common place in just about every household cleaning product. But this doesn't have to be! Did you know Apple Cider Vinegar can clean dirty floors and give you shiny hair? Or that the acids found in citrus fruit can do a mean job cleaning soap scum as well supply you with vitamin C? Mother Nature is more powerful than we think, so toss out those toxin filled bottles and use cleaners like Ecover Ecological Cream Scrub. Made with ingredients you can pronounce (water, clay) this cleaner has plant based and biodegradable components, and will still clean the heck out of your bathroom and kitchen.

SeventhGenerationPaper Goods.

Conventional baby wipes, toilet paper, diapers, and tampons are all made from cotton which is grown using toxic pesticides, then bleached with chlorine. This means every time you use them your body is ingesting these pesticides and toxins into your blood stream. Now that you know the ugly truth, get smart and buy eco-friendly products from Seventh Generation. They're made with 100% organic cotton and are free of synthetic dyes and perfumes. This brand also makes biodegradable cleaners, laundry detergents, and other household products.

Kiss My FaceSkin and Body Care
A few years ago I made the switch to all natural beauty products and save for my favorite blue mascara and eyebrow powder, my beauty regime gets a green stamp. Of course like everything in life finding the perfect skin care products involves trial and error, and of the hundreds that I've tried, there are a few I swear by. A recent addition to my favorites is Kiss My Face Jojoba and Mint Facial Scrub. After having a bout of acne, I've renewed my commitment to exfoliating, and this creamy scrub stands out from others. Just one use and my complexion was brighter, my skin was softer, and overall I looked as if I just had a mild peel. Considering I wasn't expected these kind of results, I'm pretty impressed all this can cost only $14.99. Some of my other favorite all natural beauty brands are MyChelle, Alba, Jason, and Skin By Monica. Their Perfection C Cream gives just the right amount of moisture to my oily prone skin.

There you have it. A few ways to go green, help save our environment, and stock up on cash back! For more tips check out the Shop Green category at Ebates!

It is no secret that I am particularly fond of Sephora. With an unprecedented selection of all my favorite beauty brands, it often feels like the closest thing to heaven on earth. Shopping at Sephora through Ebates has helped ease the financial strain because the more I spend, the more cash back I make. And with 4.0% Cash Back on all of my Sephora binges, I have really racked it up. Needless to say, when Sephora had a coupon for 15% off all purchases (coupon code BI15) I had to take advantage. Saving 15% on stuff I would already buy is essentially like earning free money and getting cash back on top of that its like... heaven on earth made better ( did I mention that they offer free shipping on orders of $50 or more too?). ptrmineralI have waited until the last possible minute to buy some Spring skincare essentials because I find more excitement in buying new beauty products rather than replacements. I figure with the coupon, it would be a good time to stock up on some of the regulars in my medicine chest. One of these items ( that actually stays in my purse) is a little expensive but totally worth the price, especially after 15% off. This Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral Powder SPF 45 is the ideal sunscreen for anyone up likes to touch up on the go, for those who travel often, or just for anyone who hates the greasy feeling of a liquid sunscreen.  Each tube lasts quite often and at 15% off, you can save $4.50 and subtract also 4.0% Cash Back ($1.02) and you will save over $5 on this handy, skin-saving essential.

springbeauty.jpgWhen I think about turquoise eyeliner I instantly think of my mother's wedding album from the 1970's. Pictured in the album is a bevy of bridesmaids all dolled up with full-on blue eyeshadow. And while the look was so en vogue at the time, it's hard for me not to think of that when I see reports about the blue eyeliner trend for Spring 2010. Even if you also conjure up outdated images in your mind when you think of blue eyeliner, when done right, it is a fresh look and worth trying this Spring. Use the shot from Nanete Lapore's runway show pictured left for inspiration ( photo courtesy of Elle.com). Here, the liner is placed under the eye and complimented by subtly orange cheeks and an of-the-moment orange lip. For an edgier look, line the lower lid. To take some baby steps into the trend, line the upper lid as you normally would. Make sure to use an eyeliner that is nice and creamy because while you want to trace a precise line, you also want to keep it a little smudged. One of my favorite eyeliner formulas is the NARS eyeliner pencil. This long-wearing pencil is perfectly creamy but also traces a good line that stays put. Try it in Kitty, a good shade of turquoise blue. Get it at Sephora, for $20 and take advantage of 8.0% Cash Back for March. Polish off the look with a beautiful, slightly sheer orange lipstick like Yves Saint Laurent lipstick in Orange Shiver and a blendable cheek stain like Tarte natural check stain in Eco-Cheek a super-flattering coral hue with a touch of shimmer, also at Sephora.

mdfoteOn the first official full day of Spring, my thoughts have instantly turned to all the ways I can fully enjoy the new season. For some reason, this year I am especially excited about it. I am ready for some sunshine, which, may or may not happen here in San Francisco. We have had some sun for the past week and that is enough to kick start my "I have to look good for Spring" attitude. Bring on the self-tanner (this one from Clarins I have written about many a time, and its less of a fake tanner and more of a "rejuvenating skin treatment"). Glowing skin is always in style and with so many products out there, it is easy to fake a healthy glow all year round.

One of the best ways to achieve glowing skin is not to fake it, but instead to reveal it with a gently exfoliating, glow-inducing cleanser. A million cleansers promise to give you a glow, and I have probably tried a hundred of them. I need something gentle enough to use everyday but something that is also effective. My dermatologist introduced me to the Md Forte soap-free, oil-free Cleanser II with glycolic acid, and I have been using it ever since. I usually just picked up a bottle at the office when I went in for an appointment until I realized that I had been overpaying by at least 40%! Leave it to drugstore.com to have my favorite cleanser marked down 30%, now just $19.60 with 6.0% Cash Back. If you are looking for the most gentle (doctor approved) cleaner that is suitable for even the most sensitive skin, pick this up and reveal your glow by the end of the week!

A handy tip for flawless legs: use a tiny bit of this cleanser added to your regular body wash.

sleepmaskAs much as I love the time of year when Daylight Saving Time begins (nothing says Summer like sunshine until well after 7 p.m.), the time change always takes some getting used to. Judging by the cacophony of yawns around the office and the glazed-over looks of people on the streets, I am not the only one losing sleep. Since my sleep problems persist throughout the year, I have developed a few tricks to ease my sleeplessness, especially during times when it gets worse. If you have trouble sleeping, any doctor will tell you to develop a sleep routine that you perform every night. This routine will help tell your body that it is time to relax and prepare for sleep. While I will not bore you with the details of my sleep routine, I have found through many years of trial and error that a few items always help me catch some z's.

First and most important is a good set of earplugs. Earplugs are crucial to getting a good night's sleep, especially when you live in a city. Between the bus rolling by, a clanking radiator, and my obnoxious neighbor, the only way for me to attempt to sleep is with earplugs in place. drugstore.com has these for just $4.29 with 6.0% Cash Back from Ebates. While shopping at drugstore.com, be sure to pick up another shut-eye essential: an eye mask. This Earth Therapeutics Eye Mask is top-rated and just $8.

yogibedtimetea
Once you have stocked up on some sleep accessories, you can try some teas and supplements to improve the quality and duration of sleep (please note: always consult a doctor or medical professional before taking any supplements). For everyday use, I am a big fan of Yogi Bedtime Tea, available for just $2.88 from Vitacost. Gentle but effective, this tea contains natural herbs to calm and relax the mind and body. For something stronger and good for short bouts of insomnia, Melatonin is your friend. All natural but potent, Melatonin will help you get to sleep and stay asleep longer. Dosage and instructions depend on the brand, so see the package for instructions. Get a bottle of Melatonin also from Vitacost for 60% off, priced at just $6.93 with 5.0% Cash Back from Ebates.

yslglossI have a decorative bowl on a table right by the door in my apartment. The bowl holds various items from earplugs to loose change, old and new makeup items, and even one of those tools that comes with Ikea furniture. Rarely do I feel inclined to reach for an old makeup item in that bowl and give it a try, but this morning I did and for the first time in a while I have rediscovered and I am now obsessed with the bowl-by-the-door castaway!

I bought this Yves Saint Laurent Lip Gloss on a whim after reading rave reviews in magazines. Normally, I would have opted for a peach or a pale pink hue but instead I bought the bright fuchsia (#5) and it has sat idle since the day of purchase. While I love the formula (it is not sticky, the brush glides color on perfectly, and it is not too "glossy") the color was just a little too bold for the day-to-day. Things have changed! Now I am obsessed with the perfect color that would flatter nearly every skin tone and be a perfect gloss for Spring. Priced at $30, this gloss is a tad on the extravagant side. Luckily, Sephora has increased to 8.0% Cash Back for the month of March, has free shipping on orders of $50 or more, and offers a ton of special offers listed here. With the extra cash back, the price dips below $30 and the price tag gets to be a little more reasonable. Plus, it definitely feels and looks expensive: the color is rich, the texture is divine, it is lightly scented, and it is not sticky.

From now until March 21st, Yves Rocher has more than doubled to a whopping 20.0% Cash Back. This means that in addition to their prestigious selection of natural beauty items, excellent coupons (currently you can save $10 off orders of $30 or more with code Ebates1030), and huge sale section of up to 50% off, you can save an additional 20% in the form of cash back from Ebates.

bodyrefiner
Spring is a great time to revamp the beauty routine. As the weather changes, so should our beauty regime, and this kind of savings is a great time to add some new items to the routine without breaking the bank. I need to pay more attention to what I use for body care, especially since most Spring trends require bearing some skin. I know a trusted name in beauty like Yves Rocher will have everything I need to sport a floral frock, Spring's shorts, and tanks without exposing my winterous skin! A best-seller priced at an affordable $21 (that's over 50% off) is this 14-Day Body Refiner, which claims to transform skin in just two weeks. Applied day and night, this can only help to tone, smooth, and moisturize problem areas as you give yourself some much needed at-home relaxation and spa time. Add this Argan Balm for $14.50 and you have earned $10 off plus double-digit cash back, and this luxurious body care routine is now amazingly guilt free!

sunblockThis is a necessary, albeit not life shattering, message from your self-proclaimed Ebates beauty junkie. I am fully aware that I have written about the subject of sunblock more times than I really care to count. And yes, I am aware that everyone knows the importance of sun protection, especially in this day and age. But I know how you can try one of the highest SPF, best-for-your-skin sunblocks for less, with cash back from Ebates and a free gift!

When I stumbled upon this Limited Edition size Shiseido 'Ultimate Sun Protection' SPF 55, at Nordstrom for just $19.50 with 3.0% Cash Back, special $5 shipping with a free gift offer, I knew it was a great deal that must be shared! Now, I know that is a lot of information to process at once, let me break it down. Normally, a full-sized bottle of this Shiseido sunblock costs $35, which is a hard price tag to swallow, even for such a great product. But, the limited-edition size (which is great for travel or a perfect introductory size or can be easily thrown in your purse for on the go) is just $19.50. Yes, the larger size may be a better value, but it is nice to try something that comes in under $20, especially when just a little of this product goes such a long way. Plus, when you add cash back into the mix, the Nordstrom $5 shipping offer (on orders of $50 or more with code BEAUTY), and Shiseido's fantastic free gift offer (see site for details) you have lots of savings coming your way.

Shiseido was one of the first to fuse skin care and sun care, and this sunblock has tons of good-for-your-skin ingredients, works perfectly under makeup, and lasts all day without being greasy or chalky. Get your travel size now for just $19.50 and keep your skin protected on the go!

In all the beauty magazines and blogs I come across in my weekly hunt for inspiration I have seen the same advice repeated over and over about Spring makeup: Lighten it up, go au naturale, and do pastels. I will admit, even to me, the advice seems a little daunting. Of course we would all love to go without much makeup, especially as the temperatures rise, and would prefer to embrace Spring trends without having to think about things we need to conceal or cover up. But realistically, even the au naturale makeup look requires much more than bare skin and a little gloss.

New Makeup CollectionThe key to this look is not necessarily to abandon all of your makeup, but rather invest in a lighter, more sheer collection of colors and go from there. Perfectly suited for this is the brand new Philosophy The Color Of Grace Collection. The new collection is named after the cult favorite fragrance Grace, and features all things pink and beautiful for lips, cheeks, eyes, and face. Add some glow to your skin with the Heavenly Light Pink Illuminator and Amazing Grace Shimmering Face Powder, define your eyes with the Eyelighting Shadow Duo, and polish your lips with the gorgeous pink Angle Kiss Lip Gloss. With these gorgeous colors, you will achieve that "barely there" look without it actually being barely there. You will be Springtime ready, gorgeously pink, and glowing in no time.

Shop Philosophy now, through March 7th and get free shipping on orders of $75 or more and a free gift with your order when you use coupon code gracecolor at checkout. Plus, you will get 4.5% Cash Back on your entire order when you shop through Ebates.

yslsetAs much as I love to try out the newest, latest, and greatest beauty products I find myself seeking comfort in the reliability of good old beauty favorites. What I mean is, some beauty items, whether it be your favorite mascara, perfect foundation, or go-to gloss will always do the job and therefore hold a special place in the beauty addict's heart. For me, no matter how many tubes of new mascara I buy (all chronicled on the Ebates blog) I always find myself returning to Yves Saint Laurent Faux Cils because I know its going to work and I know the tube is going to last, and it is the dependability that I find so comforting from time to time when my new formula mascara flings feel a little too risky. I also find comfort in Sephora. I know they will give me free samples, I know they will pay me 4.0% Cash Back, I know they will have my Faux Cils, and I know I will always leave with more in my shopping cart than I went in for.

I tried to divert my attention away from the new products on the homepage (I even started out this blog with the intention of writing only about the mascara!) and quickly navigated to the YSL section when I saw out of the corner of my eye "Online only. Limited edition" Those words jump out at me as if they were posted in a bright neon sign. I clicked and discovered this Yves Saint Laurent Radiance Essentials Set (a $107.50 value, just $75). The kit includes Faux Cils Mascara, the must-have Touche Éclat radiance pen, and the new lust-worthy Top Secrets Flash Radiance Skincare Brush to add a glow all over. It is easy to justify this set, and since I would already be buying the mascara, it is like getting a full-size Touche Éclat and Radiance Skincare brush for just $45. Plus, I will earn free shipping.

If you are new to YSL beauty, this is a great introductory kit, packed with best-sellers and award winners. Trust me, it will not disappoint. Plus, we are all looking for a little extra radiance in our skin and now you can get it for less at Sephora and get cash back from Ebates.

I have my beauty standby on the way (with a few extras), what are yours?

Bliss Triple Oxygen + C CreamI have always wanted to have that dewy, rosy-glow skin that I see on models and celebrities. And while I have realistic expectations about what is actually healthy skin and what is photo-shopped, I still think my skin could use and extra push to be more glowing and supple. This is something I think most women want which is why there are millions of products promising to deliver more supple, radiant skin. It is my experience that most products do not, however, give me the glow I am looking for. That was the case until I got my hands on Bliss Lab's newest creation this Triple Oxygen + C Energizing Cream, avaliable at Sephora for $54 with 8.0% Cash Back from Ebates. This newly released moisturizer is inspired by their famous oxygen mask and is packed with a double dose of beautifying oxygen, tons of Vitamin C ( a proven glow enhancer) and is paraben free.

The lightweight gel formula glides on and does not feel thick but gives enough moisture for normal to dry skin. It is the perfect companion under makeup and seriously imparts a lasting  glow after just one use.  And it ships for free from Sephora.com.

So if your Valentine's Day is not enough to give you that sought after glow, fake it with Bliss's newest ( and greatest to date) product the Triple Oxygen + C Energizing Cream and get cash back and free shipping!

Happy Valentines Day!

After years and years of coloring my hair, the damage has finally caught up to me and become evident on my lackluster, weak strands. My blond hair looks limp and tired despite all the products I have tried to put a little life back into it. While most things have short-term results, my hair does look healthier after a deep conditioner (this one from Nordstrom is amazing, by the way), nothing has provided long-term relief. I know a complete overhaul is in order and I need to start from ground zero.

First I got a good healthy trim and next was a more simplified styling routine (less time using the hair dryer and no flat ironing). I felt that I needed a good clarifying treatment to get rid of all the buildup from styling products and treatments so that my scalp could breathe and my hair could grow healthier. Because I love a D.I.Y. beauty treatment, I did a little research and discovered that my Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar has yet another amazing use: clarifying hair rinse! I always get mine from Vitacost, where shipping is always one flat rate, prices are exceptional and I get 5.0% Cash Back from Ebates.

Apple Cider Vinegar from Vitacost
There are many ways do do this rinse but I recommend this method because it is simple, does not take much time, and the vinegar smell is less apparent this way. First, wait until your hair is not clean, maybe a day or two after washing depending on how long you usually go between washes. Put one to two tablespoons of ACV into a one quart measuring cup filled with warm water (keep this ratio in mind if you need to add more water to saturate your hair). Stand over a sink or in the shower and pour the mixture onto your head, then comb through. Leave it on for up to half an hour, rinse, and then wash and condition as usual. Because the apple cider vinegar will reduce the product build-up on your hair and balance PH levels, your hair will be shiner and have more volume. It really is a great treatment that you can do one to two times a week. I am very pleased with the results and although it smells pretty bad, it is totally worth it because my hair feels (and looks) healthier.

Give it a try and pick up a bottle of Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar for just $5.71 from Vitacost  with cash back from Ebates.

I have always been one to appreciate a gift that is a little out of the ordinary, especially when the gift is thoughtful and incorporates my interests. In terms of Valentine's Day gifts, I think chocolate and roses are always a good call, but there are also many women (and men) who would appreciate something a little different, but that still makes them feel pampered. Enter The Body Shop, who have increased their cash back to 8.0% for Valentines Day with coupons for 25% off select bath and body products and fragrances with free shipping on all orders over $60. This is truly enough to entice  any Valentine's Day shopper into finding a great deal on a thoughtful, and a little unexpected, gift idea.

Olive Body Butter from The Body Shop
I have gushed about my love for The Body Shop many a time on the blog, and I will again because they have a great selection of products, many of them natural and organic, and the company is socially responsible. To me, nothing says, "Thinking of you, my Valentine" like a luxurious, natural bath and body product to pamper with. A good place to start for a thoughtful Valentine's Day gift is the Olive Body Butter (a cult favorite), now 25% off and just $15. Add the Olive Body Scrub for a truly relaxing totally indulgent experience. Plus, get free shipping and 8.0% Cash Back when you shop through Ebates.

Soap.jpgCleaning my shower over the weekend was a real rude awakening. I say this because the most laborious aspect of the job was clearing out my shower contents before I started to clean, rather than the actual scrubbing. In the process of  moving several bottles of near-empty shampoo, half-opened and now dried out sample packages, water-logged conditioner bottles, and three different facial cleansers, I realized that it was time to get rid of some things, even if there is a chance that some day I may be compelled to use the two year old conditioner I bought on a whim. I threw out all of the stuff I do not use on a weekly basis and realized that I was ready to streamline and employ some multi-tasking products into the shower routine on the condition that no amount of shower space was worth having products that I did not love. I'd rather feel like a hoarder than step out of the shower feeling unsatisfied.

I'd trust no other brand than Clarins to have a multi-tasking product that actually delivered. Lo and behold, they have recently launched this Gentle Beauty Soap, available for $15 with 7.0% Cash Back from Ebates. This certified organic beauty bar is made with 99% natural products (that's enough for me) and it is formulated for use on the face and body, and it is super gentle and lightly fragranced.

For just $15, I can keep my shower nice and spacious with this multi-tasking soap from Clarins!

It has been a few months since the start of my Castor Oil Beauty Experiment. For all of you who did not catch that blog post, I will fill you in on the details of my makeshift experiment. I had been reading a lot about women who have used Castor Oil on their eyelashes to make them grow and thought I would give it a try. I bought a bottle of Castor Oil for just $4.99 at the Vitamin Shoppe with 6.0% Cash Back. The bottle arrived quickly and I started of the experiment religiously applying the oil on my lashes every night for a few weeks. My commitment tapered off, and now I apply about three times a week, which seems to be more than enough.

Initially, I was skeptical that the oil could actually make my lashes grow, but I thought that it couldn't hurt to at least try something new with realistic expectations. What I first noticed was that the oil felt like it did moisturize my lashes (I applied to to a sparse patch in my eyebrow too) and thereby made my lashes feel heather and look a little glossier. I recommend only using a small amount, and applying the oil to the ends of the lashes and close to the roots without getting into the eye. I used a Q-tip to apply, using a fresh end for each set of lashes.

Lash Growth 1-22

If you compare the photo to the left (I took it on Friday morning) with the before photo taken at the launch of the Castor Oil experiment (below), there is no significant lash growth to report. But if you are looking for a fun and affordable addition to your pampering routine, Castor Oil is a fun addition to the mix.

There's something about the right scent that makes a girl swoon, and for me, that scent is woodsy, with hints of patchouli and moss. Of course, I discovered this after spending countless dollars on perfumes I would later discard. But now that I know better, I shop at FragranceNet. Not only do they sell top brands for both men and women, but I'll get 10.0% Cash Back during Ebates Valentine's Day Double Cash Back. Think of it as insurance for a picky nose.

Narciso RodriguezFamed fashion designer Narciso Rodriguez came out with his self titled signature fragrance a few years ago, and I've been hooked ever since. It has notes of pink pepper, lavender, patchouli, violet, and amber to name a few, and it's seductive smell is perfect for Valentine's Day. Already selling below the retail price, I'll save $10 off $80+ orders at FragranceNet with coupon code VALDAY8. Not that I needed a reason other than 10.0% Cash Back and free shipping on orders over $70 to shop this site, but hey, who doesn't love extra savings?

Dear readers, I'm coming down with something. It's not something fun like "cash back fever" or "money saving malaria" - nope, I think I'm getting a cold. Again. I was laid up at Christmas time with a pretty wicked something that had been going around, and now I'm starting to feel the standard symptoms coming back around again.

Unfortunately, I can't say I'm surprised - I ride public transit five days a week, one of my best friends is a school teacher, a handful of my co-workers have been painfully ill in the past week, and I don't take care of myself or keep regular hours. Still, I have always been able to just rely on my usually-staunch Scandinavian immune system to power through things in the past, but this is getting a little ridiculous.

drugstore.com DealsI fear, however, that now it's time to get a little proactive and kick this cold in the teeth. Despite the fact that I'm currently in my cubicle in the office (don't worry, I'm in a pretty remote location, so I won't risk infecting those around me), I am daydreaming about the comforts of my bed and how much I'd rather be there. (I don't dislike being in the office, but let's be real - wouldn't you rather be in bed right now too?) No matter whether you're in bed fighting your illness, or if you're working in the office like yours truly, you could be ordering your cold-fighting supplies right where you are. With the help of drugstore.com I'll be able to stock up on all my needs: vitamin C tablets, cough suppressant, decongestant, the whole nine. It's sad, but considering I almost never get sick, I don't have any of these basics on hand.

The only upside of the timing of my illness is that currently Ebates is in the midst of our Valentine's Day Gifts promotion, and drugstore.com is currently offering 8.0% Cash Back. That way, when I buy my cold-fighting supplies, I'll have enough left over for some supplements once I'm feeling better to make sure I don't get sick again!

Love is in the air here at Ebates because of our Valentine's Day promotion is in full swing. With a month of increased cash back at twelve stores, there will be plenty of time to search for the perfect gift for your valentine. In the meantime, it really can hurt to do some shopping for yourself while you earn some extra cash. My first stop was at Beauty.com. As part of the V-Day promo, they have increased to 8.0% Cash Back and have a coupon for $10 off with free shipping on orders of $60 or more. Coupled with the increased cash back, I am set to save a ton.

Hemming My Way From Beauty.comI stocked up on some less exciting things (shampoo, some skincare items) but really got in deep to the Beauty.com site and found the most genius invention ever. This is a real life-changer for anyone who has had to pay for expensive alterations to hem the length of their pants only to wish that the pants were a little longer or  for those of you who alter pants different lengths to work with flat shoes and heels. Hemming My Way is a snap hem with adhesive backing that allows you to snap and unsnap the hem of your pants for any heel height. Or, keep them hemmed at one length and save in alteration costs. Each set is removable and reusable eight times (perfect for traveling with several pairs of pants) and works on most fabrics. For just under $20 this will truly save me hundreds on alteration costs... which leaves me with much more to spend on all the things I love.

Around this time every year my skin wages an outright revolt against the cold temperatures. My already-sensitive skin seems to become a hundred times more sensitive during the Winter months, and I always find myself desperate to calm my skin without having to overhaul my entire skincare and makeup regimen.

Right when I find myself desperate for a solution, I head over to Clinique and find just the right thing to calm my skin that will work with everything I already have. I have only heard good things about Clinique Redness Solutions Instant Relief Mineral Powder ($32.50 with 4.0% Cash Back). Formulated to instantly reduce redness, this "unique mineral formula" cools irritated skin on contact and keeps redness at bay for hours. This sounds like just what I need to calm my red, blotchy, and sensitive skin and make it look better in no time.
Clinique Redness solutions Instant Relief Mineral PowderAnd my timing is perfect because from now until January 17th, I can enjoy an exclusive (just for Ebates shoppers) offer from Clinque. When I Spend $25 or more I can get a limited edition cosmetics bag (to keep all of my beauty loot organized) and two travel sized best sellers; Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion and the ultra-gentle High-Impact Mascara with code EBATES at checkout. No matter what your makeup style a well defined brow and lush lashes are an essential part of a polished look. Defining your eyebrows creates a framework for your entire face and always takes your look up one notch, Elle UK has a slide show of all the celebs who have nailed the look, check it out for some inspiration. With thousands of products out in the beauty-sphere with big promises, it's hard to know what's just right to get the look. In my tried-and-tested opinion, brow fillers, dyes, and hair-growth serums are no match to the good old standard brow pencil. No beauty brand is better equipped to make the classic even better than Dior, with their recently released DiorShow Brow Styler, available for a limited time in a set with a mini DiorShow mascara for $28 (same price as the Brow Styler alone) with 4.0% Cash Back from Ebates.

Dior Brow Styler Set With 4.0% Cash Back at Sephora
As a part of Dior Beauty's runway-inspired collection DiorShow, the brow filler is intended to give you the look of expertly-styled runway brows anytime. The perfectly precise pencil tip (that never requires sharpening) fills in brows, shapes, and defines subtly, but with noticeable results. If you don't believe me, check out the seventy-nine reviews for the Dior Brow Styler on the Sephora site (my new favorite feature - who better to inform me of my potential beauty buys than other Sephora shoppers?) most of them five star.

In light of the fact that New Year's Eve is not too far in our rearview mirrors, I just stumbled across this little gem from drugstore.com that might have possibly changed my luck a bit when the ball dropped at midnight. While I practice what my hygienist calls "exemplary oral hygiene" there are still some days when all of us still have to question the freshness of our breath. Plus, as an avid coffee drinker and lover of exotic foods, I have to be vigilant in order to make sure my breath is nothing short of delightful.

Kiss Me Bad Breath DetectorThat's where the Kiss Me Meter Bad Breath Detector comes in. No more quickly breathing into your hand and sniffing, or asking a very understanding friend for their advice, this meter detects a number of various odors caused by a variety of different sources, including garlic, alcohol, cigarettes, and a number of disease-caused scents.

With a simple to read LED system ranked from "Kiss me" to "Never", this meter will let you know just how confident you should be before you lean in for that romantic embrace, or before you have that one-on-one meeting with your boss in close confines. Plus, for just $19.99 with free shipping and 6.0% Cash Back when you shop through Ebates, it makes for an inexpensive gift either to make up for a tardy Christmas present, or just to drop an ever-so-subtle hint to someone who lets their breath do the talking for them.

Make sure you are smelling as fresh as a springtime flower with products from our Health & Beauty category.

Ah, New Year's Eve. Try as I may to overlook the hoopla that is the last night of the year, I always get sucked into it's "do or die" mentality. This year, instead of making absurd resolutions, I'm making realistic ones. For example, my resolution to be healthier doesn't have to involve fad diets, countless hours at the gym, or swearing off cake (like that's possible) for the rest of my life. Instead I'll eat healthier by cooking at home, and live a better life with even more cash in my wallet!

Jamie Oliver at HomeWhen it comes to healthy living, a proper diet is top of the list. I love the satisfaction of cooking a meal filled with ingredients that are both good for me and taste delicious. It's for this reason that I can't wait to buy Jamie Oliver's latest cookbook, Jamie at Home: Cook Your Way To The Good Life. Inspired by the chef's own vegetable patch, this book is filled with mouth-watering recipes like asparagus and potato tart, and winter veggie coleslaw. Selling at Barnes and Noble, you'll get 8.0% Cash Back thanks to Ebates December Double Cash Back. Hurry! Today is the last day for double cash back!

La CreusetWhen it comes to cooking, tools can make or break a meal. Yummy dishes are often the result of proper cookware like this Le Creuset Dutch Oven. Perfect for baking, roasting, broiling, braising, sautéing or marinating, this piece is just $109 at CHEFS. Considering Le Creuset can cost hundreds of dollars per piece, this is a great deal. You'll get 6.0% Cash Back by shopping at CHEFS, and enjoying years of yummy, healthy meals.

December's not over yet! There's still time to shop December Double Cash Back!

Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil With 5.0% Cash BackI will be honest and admit that I never really make new years resolutions. I find that the letdown of not following through on a resolution is usually worse for my psychological state than the bad habit I want to break. One thing I always do is try to get a little healthier. I like to clean out the old and bring in the new; usually some part of this process involves my closet and my heath and beauty routine.

This year I will try to keep my skincare routine simple and streamlined, I will try to only buy products I need and use full bottles before I buy replacements. That sounds resolution-ish but I assure you it's not, it's more of a new year effort than a conscious decision to change. One product that will make the road to keeping my beauty cabinet clutter free is this muti-tasking, best-selling godsend: Shu Uemura Premium a/o Cleansing Oil. Equal parts skin treatment and cleanser/makeup remover, this oil makes cleaning your face in the evening a therapeutic experience. Gone are the days of rubbing my eye makeup off with an abrasive cotton ball doused in an eye-stinging formula; this oil literally melts away all of my makeup, smells great and moisturizes my skin. In a real hurry (or a very late night) I could completely skip moisturizer and have my face perfectly clean in one step. There are six different formulas available for a range of skin types, and prices are based on the formula type. Shop at Shu Uemura online and get 5.0% Cash Back and free shipping on orders of $50 or more.

If you don't want to commit to a 5.0z bottle, Sephora has this mini version of the Premium a/o for just $12 with 8.0% Cash Back. The size is great for travel and will undoubtedly convert you to a beauty oil believer!

Few things excite me quite like the prospect of "party makeup". It sounds random, I know, but as a true makeup lover I really get excited about some extra special party looks. It's that time of year where over-the-top makeup is acceptable and experimenting with colors and textures that you wouldn't normally wear is a little more comfortable. Red lipstick, glittering eyeshadow, and dramatic eyeliner are all fair game even for the natural look gal (like yours truly). Now is my chance to whip out all those colors that collect dust all year or to invest in some new and fun colors for the ultimate party look.

Bobbi Brown Goldstone Eye Palette
Limited edition holiday palettes are all over the place, making it easier (and more affordable) to push the makeup look envelope or to justify buying more because you are getting a good deal. The best of makeup pallets and wearable holiday looks are at Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, who offer 4.0% Cash Back from Ebates and a ton of free gift coupons.

I am not sure if it was the sleek titanium case or the contents inside (or both) that turned me on to this Goldstone Long Wear Eye Palette, available as a limited edition item for $40 with 4.0% Cash Back from Ebates. Perfect for the glamorous party look, this palette has two long-wear cream eyeshadows (in gorgeous shimmering shades) and a long-wear gel eyeliner in black with a double-ended mini-cream shadow, ultra-fine eyeliner brush. With just this palette, a couple of coats of mascara and some lip gloss, I can have the ultimate party look in no time. Plus, the long-wear formulas ensure that I will not be rushing to touch up my makeup while the sleek lightweight case make it easy if I have to.

If you are looking for a quick party makeup look, pick up this palette or shop many others and get cash back from Ebates!

This time of year, when everyone has the holidays on the brain, its easy to totally lose sight of life's responsibilities. As we have all mentioned (and as you may imagine), this time of year at Ebates is busy and the entire team is working extra hard. Busier times at work, coupled with holiday season obligations, have caused a few chores on my homefront to remain undone for longer than I'd like to admit. And my newest bottle of eco-friendly laundry detergent (in a long line of brands and formulas I have tried) had remained unused until last night.

Method Squeaky Green Laundry detergent at Drugstore.com
I recently purchased Method "Squeaky Green" laundry detergent, from drugstore.com and got 6.0% Cash Back from Ebates and also 15% off the suggested retail price. But let me say that getting a good deal on this detergent was the least of my excitement. I have tried many formulas that I didn't feel cleaned my clothes or was gentle enough on all my prized delicates and settled on mediocre detergents for far too long. That is until I gave this a try!

I have long been a fan of Method (their dish soap is great too)  and only recently bought their laundry soap, the long-time delay was mainly because the price at my local health food store put me off. But when I saw it at drugstore.com, I knew I was getting a good deal and cash back, so I figured at this point I had nothing to lose. I was so pleasantly surprised with the results of everything I laundered from my towels to my favorite blouses. Everything was clean without feeling stripped, smelled good and I know that I am doing good for the environment and my health. Plus I will get a little cash back in my pocket and a good deal when I shop at drugstore.com.

Now, back to holidays!

Twilight Fresh Face Glow From SephoraNo matter how much you love the holidays, this time of year is always a bit stressful and takes an obvious toll on the complexion. Holiday stress mixed with falling temperatures always makes me look rather peaked even if I am full of Holiday cheer. If you are looking for just the right pick me up for your skin, look no further than Fresh Twilight Face Glow, available at Sephora for $36 with 8.0% Cash Back. I was initially turned off by the price tag, thinking that it was way too expensive for something that would likely promise a lot more than it actually delivered. It delivers! Mixing a bit of this luminous cream with my moisturizer everyday adds just the right amount of dewy glow, a little bit of moisture and makes the skin look virtually flawless. Plus, it is packed with vitamins and anti-oxidants, smells nice, and feels so luxurious. It makes the perfect gift for anyone on your list, as you can give someone a little holiday glow.

If the full size is a little too much to commit to or you are looking for something a little more gift-worthy pick up this limited edition Fresh Star Light, Star Bright Set, for $28, full of get-pretty favorites and, of course, the Twilight Face Glow. It is temporarily out of stock, but too good not to mention, I'd think Sephora should be restocking before the holidays.

Guys, it's time to shoot you straight. I have spent a little time clicking around Sephora's site. See, the girls here at work spend a lot of time talking about all the wonderful deals and selection at Sephora. After over a year of hearing about it, I had to take a look for myself, and you know what? They were absolutely right; Sephora has more stuff than I ever knew existed, both for women and for men.

Before I continue, I'll tell you a brief and 100% true-as-can-be story: I was giving myself a once-over in the mirror the other day before going out for a night on the town. Now, generally speaking, I tend not to be much for staring into mirrors. I see enough of myself in passing, I don't need to preen. Rather, I usually wake up, run my fingers through my hair, throw on jeans and a sweatshirt, and make a dash for the door. So I happened to be giving myself a once-over and I notice about two inches up from my hairline there is one hair sticking up a solid inch above the rest of the hair. I did a double take and looked even closer and sure enough, there it was: one single straight-as-an-arrow black as midnight hair standing at attention. But here's the thing: I have wavy brown hair. I don't know where this came from or what in the world it was doing sprouting from my head. So, being the well-groomed gentleman that I am (if you don't factor in the four days of stubble) I did the logical thing: I grabbed my tweezers, got close to the follicle, and yanked that sucker clean out.

"Now Bill", you may ask, "why in the world are you discussing rogue hairs and your personal system for keeping your gorgeous locks in order?" Simple - when I yanked that sucker clean out, I also managed to snag about four or five other hairs out with it. Those poor little fellas that got plucked were just like their brothers - brown and wavy, they just happened to be too close to the outlier, and they suffered a fate prescribed to them by a bad pair of tweezers. See, like most men I know, the one pair of tweezers we have is a crappy old pair that you probably stole from your parents when you moved out or went off to college. TweezermanIt wasn't until recently I realized how much better my tweezing experience could be. Especially since I was introduced to Tweezerman. At the recommendation of a number of well-wishers, I tracked down a pair of Stainless Steel Slant Tweezers from Sephora, and now I have the lazer-precision that comes with a pair of well-sharpened precision tweezers, all for a mere $20. What makes me even more confident is that not only do I get 8.0% Cash Back through Ebates, I know I can feel confident that I invested $20 in a pair of tweezers that will last me the rest of my life, as Tweezerman boasts lifetime sharpening if my tweezers ever get dull.

Gents, clean yourself up with something nice from our Health & Beauty category.

Over the weekend, I had a bit of a cold and was resting it out in bed. The idle time gave me a chance to take part in one of my favorite time consuming activities: searching the Environmental Working Group's Cosmetics Database "Skin Deep". The database is a safety guide which rates cosmetic, baby, and personal care products based on their potentially harmful ingredients. You can search the database by an individual product, product type or brand. I searched one of my favorite Health and Beauty destinations, The Body Shop and found that they have many products with a low hazard rating, which was great news for me. Even better news was that The Body Shop is a member of our exciting November Double Cash Back month and has a staggering 10.0% Cash Back with coupons galore.

Shea Body Butter With 10.0% Cash Back
Shop now and get free shipping on orders of $50 or more and shop for bath and body favorites that are buy one get one 50% off. I recently ended a seemingly futile search for something to save my dry skin. The only solution seems to be a highly moisturizing body treatment like The Body Shop's Shea Body Butter for $20. If I buy the Body Butter, I can get a Shea Body Scrub for 50% off, making it just $10. Nothing keeps Winter skin in tip-top shape like regular exfoliation and daily moisturizing.

I will pick up a few stocking stuffers to qualify for free shipping and take advantage of shopping with 10.0% Cash Back!

CaboodlesA recurring theme in my health and beauty posts is saving time in the morning. Just the other day, in a typical rush, I was on a hunt for an elastic headband. With the shower running and no time to spare, I rifled through an absurd amount of beauty and makeup products searching for what proved to be a needle in a haystack. At that moment, like so many times before, I vowed to find a better storage method to keep all of my toiletries stored and accessible. My hunt started with fond memories of my first beauty storage device and 80's toy icon: Caboodles. You may recall Caboodles from the eighties; they were tinted plastic tackle box-style storage containers that were easily transportable. Girls would use Caboodles to store their makeup, hair scrunchies, Barbie clothes and more.

Caboodles From WalgreensAlthough they are rather outdated, they were quite practical, would hold a ton of stuff, and could slip into the cupboard under the sink. Driven by this memory, I did a quick search of my favorite Ebates merchants and I discovered that you still could buy Caboodles, with a new more updated look but same great practicality. Get your sleek and updated Caboodles Ultimate Organizer from Walgreens for $29.99 with 4.0% Cash Back from Ebates and end your struggle to keep your products organized.

Chanel Powder Blush from BloomingdalesBy the time Wednesday rolls around, the past weekend is a distant memory and you have fully immersed yourself in the work routine. So good ol' hump day is usually dominated by feeling that the weekend is so close but at the same time, so far away. I find that by the time Wednesday rolls around all my promises to myself to "be more put together" have faded and I am more focused on getting rest. This morning, after a late start, I was in desperate need for a little pick-me-up to get me through the week and over the hump of hump-day. I reached for an old favorite, my bright-pink Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush (available at Bloomingdale's with 3.0% Cash Back and $5 shipping on all beauty orders). With a couple of swoops on the checks, I instantly felt (at least that I looked) a little rested with a natural healthy glow. Despite my rather lackluster outfit choice and hurried attempt to do my makeup, the blush made me feel more put together and ready for the day.

For a steal, try the Physicians Formula Pearls of Perfection Blush in Blushing Berry. Priced just under $10 at ULTA Beauty with 3.0% Cash Back from Ebates,  this natural formula is good for sensitive skin, and contains just enough subtle shimmer for a "lit from within" glow. Get $3.50 off any order of $10 or more with ULTA Coupon code 20594 at checkout. Pearls of Perfection Blush at Ulta

It is no secret that I am a person who believes that there is a beauty product for every need. Dry Cuticles? Get a cuticle pen. Sallow Skin? Try an exfoliant. The list goes on an on. When it comes to cleansing my face, however, I have found it difficult to find a good balance between cleansing and retaining a natural moisture balance. I found also that the more products I used, the worse my skin felt, especially now that the season has changed from Summer to Fall. Lately I have been reading about skipping cleanser for those with sensitive skin and instead trying a warm wash cloth and water to rid skin of the daily grime. I figured the routine was worth a try and rounded up a few products to get the job done.
The Body Shop Ultra-Cleansing Cloth

First, it is important to use a wash-cloth that is not super abrasive. Too much friction on the skin will strip moisture. This Ultra Gentle Cleansing Cloth from The Body Shop is perfect for the task. Plus, its reasonably priced at just $6 with 5.0% Cash Back.

Lavender Oil From Vitacost

If the thought of just water and a washcloth makes the routine seem a little lackluster, add some essential oil to the mix to spice things while reaping the aromatherapy benefits of a soothing scent. Try Aura Cacia 100% Pure Essential Oil in Lavender from Vitacost for 40% off and just $6.03 with 5.0% Cash Back from Ebates. Add a couple of drops to a sink basin full of water and cleanse with the cloth.

I have tried the routine myself and find that it works especially well for a pick-me-up in the morning. It feels great and is a calming ritual to add into the routine. Try it out for yourself for just about $12 with cash back!

I spend enough time reading beauty blogs to be relatively immune to falling for some kind of home remedy that is likely to end as a fail with negative consequences or at least scars. To give you some idea what I mean, I asked a friend of mine if he thought it was a good idea for me to try out one of those at home waxing kits. His reply was an emphatic no and he said something about how he would find me like a hairless sphinx. The sad thing is, he is probably right. Most at-home treatments can go dangerously awry, but some actually work and can save you time and money. It is up to the discerning eye to know the difference and to research to know what you are doing is safe. One of these at-home treatments that piqued my interest was applying Castor oil to moisturize eyelashes (and eyebrows) and even promote growth. With all these products on the market for "lash vitality" and virtually every makeup brand selling some kind of lash conditioner, its hard to not think that maybe my lashes need a little T.L.C. and to jump on the lash care bandwagon.

eye beforeSo I bought my first bottle of Castor oil from the Vitamin Shoppe through Ebates for just $4.99 with 6.0% Cash Back. And I figured, at best my lashes could grow a bit (I also plan to applying it to sparse spot in my eyebrow) and at worst they could be naturally conditioned for under $5. Since I am by no means an impartial judge of my own lash growth, I thought that I could document my before and afters and let the readers be the judge! Starting today, I will apply nightly for three weeks and compare before and after shots to see if there is any discernible difference.

Soft Hands Kind Heart Hand CreamIt's that time of year when the onset of dry, cold weather coupled with overzealous hand-washing (twenty seconds!) causes dry skin that's virtually impossible to get rid of. Slathering your hands in a quality hand lotion several times a day is the only way to save them from being painfully dry and cracked. It's usually this time of year when I stock up on several tubes to equip my apartment, cubicle, and handbag so that I can be constantly moisturizing after constantly washing.

As you may imagine, I shell out a few bucks to keep myself in hand creme all season and I was happy to see that The Body Shop has released a $10 Soft Hands Kind Heart Hand Cream, a limited edition product which will donate 100% of the proceeds to their global NGO partner ECPAT (End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography, and Child Trafficking) International and national members of the ECPAT network, whose work aims to help protect children and young people from sex trafficking. Buying this product will not only help out a hugely important cause that is underfunded, but also it's quite simply a great hand cream with essential moisturizing ingredients like olive oil. Of course, you will also get 5.0% Cash Back when you shop through Ebates (which you can also donate to a charity of your choice here) and The Body Shop coupons for more savings. Stock up and get free shipping on orders of $60+.

Get Cash Back on Items From Allure's Best of BeautyEvery year Allure Magazine publishes their Best of Beauty list where the expert editors and readers decide which products earn a highly coveted place on the list. It is honestly like a beauty manifesto, where you can find the tried-and-tested best shampoo for dry hair, foundation for oily skin, or the most universally flattering red lipstick and much more. This year the one hundred and eighty two item list boasts just as many drugstore buys as high end department store items, which is exciting news for anyone on a budget. It's even more exciting news for Ebates members, who can get cash back on the drugstore buys from merchants like drugstore.com with 6.0% Cash Back or at ULTA and get 3.0% Cash Back and samples galore.

The Best of Beauty list also has multiple items from Lancôme, Clinque, Bobbi Brown and Kiehl's (find all in our Health and Beauty Category), all of which offer cash back and coupons with Ebates. The trouble with sample size beauty products is that you really do not get enough product to make an informed decision about whether or not to purchase it. How often do you try a sample of a product then buy the full-size only to realize you hate the smell, it makes you break out or, the worst, it doesn't seem to work as well as the sample did? The solution for full-size commitment-phobes are "beauty minis" or travel size. I love to stock up on these to give products a try without wasting money on a full-size. Plus, if you love to try the latest and the greatest products, this is your chance to try a range without breaking the bank. Nordstrom has a great selection of travel size beauty products for hair, skin, fragrance and even nails. Essie Fall Minis At Nordstrom This Essie Fall Mini 4-Pack is perfect for just $17 with 5.0% Cash Back (increased for our Boots and Bags Sale, but applicable on all purchases). You get four Fall polishes for the price of one, and they will surely last you through Fall and beyond.

For more beauty minis, check out Sephora, whose wide selection covers big brands like Skyn Iceland, Makeup Forever, Johnathan Product, and many, many more with 4.0% Cash Back from Ebates!

The trouble with fashion week being seasons ahead is that you can get prematurely excited about certain trends that just don't make sense for the season you are in. The good thing is that you can start preparing for whats next; planning and budgeting to make the right additions to your wardrobe. The same idea applies to fashion week beauty trends, you can make plans for a new haircut and start a list of items you want to buy. In the meantime you can also incorporate some of the newest trends into your current routine without looking like you woke up in the wrong season.

Chris-Benz-Beauty
Take this minimalist look from the Chris Benz show: between the perfectly toussled hair, blushed cheeks, and matte skin with the absolutely to-die-for lip shade (a Lancôme limited edition, more details to come), this look is effortless and timeless. You probably have most of what you need to get the look: a light cream blush and a translucent powder to eliminate shine, couple coats of mascara and some beach spray or texturizer for the hair.

Lorac Lipstick From Sephora

While you wait for the exact Lancôme shade to be released (aptly named Christ & Tell), pick up this Lorac Lipstick in "It Girl" from Sephora with 4.0% Cash Back from Ebates

One of the problems with wearing lip gloss on a windy day is that your hair can whip into your mouth, getting gloss in your hair and smudging your makeup. As summer days draw to an end, the chances of this happening increase and my thoughts turn to a solution. An easy fix for this unfortunate beauty dilemma is a lip stain. Lip stains often get a bad reputation for being ultra-drying, but these days, most stains pack a lot of moisture without sacrificing staying power and stain finish.
Lip Stain with 3% Cash Back From Nordstrom A great example of this is Laura Mercier Lip Stain. It is the best of both worlds: boasting the look and lasting power of a stain with the balmy texture of a gloss. Choose from a wide range of shades, from Scarlet, a classic red, to Shy Pink, a pinkish nude that will pair perfectly with a bold eye. Get yours now for $20 with 3% Cash Back at Nordstrom.

For a budget friendly option, try Covergirl's Outlast lip stain at Drugstore.com for $7.49 with 6% Cash Back from Ebates. Shop now and buy one Covergirl item and get the other free!

Of all the beauty items I obsess about on this blog, I rarely discuss hair products. I had completely given up on the prospect of having "good hair" and just accepted my fate of a tousled bun or a low pony tail style. That was until boredom got the best of me and I thought I would embark on my quest for good hair to pass the time. The only place to start my mission was the Ebates Health and Beauty category for a good deal and cash back.

Cash Back at Beauty.com
I was about to call off the entire project when I stumbled upon John Masters Organics Bourbon Vanilla & Tangerine hair texturizer at Beauty.com with 6% Cash Back from Ebates. I am easily seduced by interesting ingredients and always try to use eco-friendly products, so this was looking really good. A texturizer was just what I needed. Not only would it conceal my split ends and flyaways, but it would also add a little dimension to my lifeless hair. The product feels good, smells great and works well. And best of all its suitable for short and long hair and will polish a variety of styles.

6% Cash Back on Kiehls Marvelous Mineral MascaraKiehl's products have always been a huge part of my beauty product regime. Like most product junkies, I like to display all of my beauty items the way a collector would display their fine tuned assortment of snow globes. And Kiehl's bottles are always a part of my own fine-tuned collection of bottles and potions. Rarely though, have Kiehl's products made an appearance in my makeup bag the way that they appear so often in my face and body care regime. That is until they released their Marvelous Mineral Mascara.

The mascara is formulated with mineral pigments for color, Acacia Senegal (to thicken and lengthen lashes) and moisturizing Jojoba Oil. It is also paraben and fragrance free and will not irritate even the most sensitive eyes. It is available at Kiehl's for $16.50 with 6% Cash Back from Ebates. I have been wearing mine for the last few days and have noticed that my eyes are less sensitive and my lashes do feel more moisturized. It lengthens and separates, but yields more natural looking lashes, making it the perfect choice for a daytime makeup look.

Apothica couponsI won't lie to you, folks. When I first saw "Apothica" on the Ebates stores list, I thought it was a heavy metal band. Then I realized that would be crazy. So I just chalked it up to not having glasses on and the word actually being "Alopecia". Wrong again. The third time I thought maybe a site had started selling Alpacas. Strike three.

Rather, Apothica is a wonderful collection of products to help you look and feel your best. Featuring popular brand names like Perricone MD, Smashbox Cosmetics, bareminerals, and Pre de Provence, Apothica has something for all your health & beauty needs, plus they also offer 7% Cash Back. I know that I tend not to talk much about health & beauty because, frankly, I don't really know a lot about it. However, just from perusing Apothica for a little bit today, not only do I see brand names that even a novice like myself recognizes, I also see a lot of prices that look reasonable for what you're getting. Plus, right now they're featuring a Back to Basics sale, where you can save up to 20% on many name-brand products, and they offer free shipping over $49 which, as you know, always revs my motor.

Anyone within earshot has probably heard me complaining about the lack of sun here in San Francisco. I am sure they are all very pleased to know that next week I will be departing my Ebates blogging post for a little vacay to Los Angeles where I will get more than my fill of sun. Not only does my upcoming trip require planning what clothes to pack, the increased exposure to the sun has me thinking about how to protect my skin. Like most people, I am good about protecting my face and body when I am in the sun but I often forget to protect my lips, which can lead to chapping, burns, and premature aging. Cash Back at SephoraThe perfect product to protect my pout from the sun and give me the same look and feel of a gloss is Fresh Rosé Tinted Lip Treatment SPF 15 for $22.50 with 4% Cash Back at Sephora. A lightly tinted spinoff of the perennial favorite Sugar Lip treatment, it goes on smooth leaving the perfect hint of rose hue with sun protection.

Michelle Obama's Faux BobThe blogosphere was abuzz after Michelle Obama was photographed at the White House earlier this week sporting what seemed to be a shorter cut, complimenting her fresh-faced, rosy makeup and dressed in an embellished white dress. Despite the speculation that she had actually cut her hair, it has now been confirmed that she had just styled it differently. Which is proof of what a few bobbi pins and some styling product can do to spice up the hair routine for a new look. This is especially key for those of us on a budget and stretching out the time between haircuts.

Drugstore.com Bobbi PinsAll you need are some bobbi pins, like these for just $1.49 with 6% Cash Back at Drugstore.com. Make sure to blow dry your hair smooth and finish it off with a shine enhancing styling creme. Depending on the length of your hair, wrap it into a tight bun and secure it with the pins then loosely tuck it under at the nape of the neck.

Contact lens users, unite in your distaste for me. I'm one of those folks who only needs glasses to read. While this might not make me as loathsome as those 20/20 showoffs, it still means that I know little to nothing about popping a thin piece of... something... onto my eyeball with the hopes of seeing better. Pair that with the fact that I can't even manage to put in eye drops, and I kind of become a somewhat odd choice to be writing to you about the benefits of VisionDirect.

VisionDirect CouponsHowever, what I lack in my knowledge of contact lenses, I make up for in my knowledge of finding great deals with the help of Ebates, and a few choice VisionDirect coupons. This is where the "did you know" part of this segment comes in: as I write this, there are ten different VisionDirect coupons that you can choose from to help save you money, so whatever your prescription may be, and whatever your needs are, we have a VisionDirect coupon that can help you save time and money when getting contact lenses.

Hi! I'm Sasha and I blog at Sasha Says. I'm a working mom of two who can't say no to new beauty products. I'm also a big Ebates fan too, and was so excited when they invited me to guest blog.

I absolutely love Reese Witherspoon; so much that I named my daughter Reese! So when I saw that she was the new face of Avon last year, I was intrigued. I had never tried Avon before, (in fact I always thought of it as an "older lady" company), but with her as a spokesperson, I had to try it! I first tried the Pro-To-Go Lipstick and it's been a favorite of mine for quite some time now. It retails for $9, and I love how it slides shut - no cap to lose! My current favorite color is Cherry Glisten, too bad it doesn't make me look like Reese!

Avon LipstickNow, I'm going to admit something - I'm 35 and (gasp!) have the beginnings of some wrinkles. My Avon rep recommended I try the Anew Rejuvenate line. Right now they have a fabulous deal: you can get both the Flash Facial Revitalizing Concentrate and Night Revitalizing Cream for just $39.99 - that's a savings of $40! I use the Flash Facial before I apply my makeup in the morning and the Night Cream, well, at night.

Avon Anew

I think you'll find Avon is always having spectacular deals and you can use code REPFS for free shipping too! Plus, don't forget -- whenever you shop through Ebates, you're automatically earning a solid 5% Cash Back at Avon! Happy shopping!

Stop by Sasha Says and let me know what you think about Avon.

Cash Back And Coupons at Sally Beauty SupplyIn order to prepare for New Merchant Week at Ebates, I took some time to explore the new kids on the block. These days, my beauty faux-pas are less drastic but still occur nonetheless. Instead of going to Sally Beauty Supply, I can get everything I need with 8% Cash Back from Ebates and Sally Beauty Coupons. And because I saved money from shopping through Ebates with cash back and an exclusive coupon code, I did not feel any guilt! Riding the guilt-less shopping wave, I thought there was no better time to get a few more things at Sephora while they have 8% Cash Back and coupons.

I really like to get acquainted with a new makeup brand or new products with an "on-the-go" kit because I do not have to commit to buying full-size products and I can try a range of the product line. Not to mention, the trial sizes are good for traveling (hence "on the go") and are a range of Josie Maran Beauty best-sellers, so it takes the guess work out of deciding on which item to buy. LancomeSun.jpgAround this time of year, I always look in horror at the pasty whiteness that has become of my skin. And true to my yearly habit, I think two thoughts when I examine myself: one, I need a tan, and two, I need to wear lots and lots of sunscreen. While most health care professionals will agree that sun protection is a year-round thing, my regimen consists of sun block on the face year-round and on the body only when the extremities are exposed. Indeed, it is getting to be about that time where sun protection needs to reach farther than the face.

With so many sunscreens on the market, it is really difficult to find the one that is right for you. An obvious way to pick a sunscreen is to consider how much you are exposed to direct sunlight and how fair your skin is, and then go from there. Most people who don't work outdoors or spend extended periods of the day in the sun can wear an SPF 15-30 and be completely protected. I am very pale with sensitive skin; so while I do my best to avoid the direct sunlight, it seems foolish and horribly boring to stay out of the sun on a gorgeous Spring day.

My comprise? Rather than giving up the beloved sun, I douse myself in Lancôme SÔLEIL ULTRA EXPERT SUN CARE SPF 50. The triple action formula not only protects the skin from the sun, it also hydrates and firms. I feel that they only way I am actually going to take the time to put on sunscreen in the morning is if it provides tangible and immediate benefits. For just $34.50, you are getting a three-in-one bang for your buck that is suited for virtually any skin type. Plus, get 6% increased cash back and save more with Red Hot Dollars, get $5 off $25, $10 off 50+, $15 off $75 or $20 off $200+. And get a free deluxe-sized sample of one of Lancôme's best selling products with any Lancôme purchase at Macy's.

With Springtime glee on the lips (or, more appropriately, on the fingertips) of every blogger around, the new season really hasn't ceased to be a source of inspiration for yours truly. Although, my happiness seems to be merely theoretical; I am in theory happy that it is Spring and that warmer weather & bountiful sunshine are both on their way. However, in reality, I am stuck in the same Wintertime rut that I was before March 20th. Quick fix for the seasonal rut? A thorough closet cleansing, purchasing of some inspirational clothing, Spring cleaning of the home, and, my personal favorite, an easy-on-the-wallet at-home beauty treatment.

BLISS-mask.jpgShop Bliss Labs where you can get the creme de la creme of beauty products and spa essentials. Currently, the featured product of the month on the site is a beauty editor, customer, and celebrity favorite: the Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask, avaliable for $52 with 4% cash back. Formulated to be a simple quick fix for "dull, tired, sallow, 'I'm sick of my skin' skin", and packed full of antioxidants and oxygen for revitalizing and brightening, it really is the mask that does it all and packs some serious results for less than one trip to a professional facialist. Get you own Triple Oxygen Energizing Mask and use coupon code EBATES09 to get free shipping on orders of $75+ and get a free pore perfecting facial polish sample with your order. RocketGloss.jpgWhen it comes to the things human beings actually need, we are quite simple, visceral beings who crave the totally obvious. When it comes to the things we want, both life and the laundry list of things we are ready to acquire gets far more complicated. Luckily, there is Ebates to streamline the process of coming to terms with the list, and using it will help me save on things I either need or want, with cash back, online coupons, discount stores and online rebates. I become a particularly happy human when I shop and save with Sephora coupons. I am still taking advantage of the March cash back increase and have used the free shipping Sephora coupon (code SHIP35) every chance I get: like if my shampoo gets dangerously low, or if I need to spice up my makeup rotation on a particularly uninspired day. Just when I thought (for a brief moment) that the well of products to buy and write about had run dry, I happened upon this horribly awesome new arrival.

SephoraDIY.gifAs the month long cash back increase (to a fantastic 8%, nothing to shake your cup at) at Sephora continues, I have not yet reached the point where I lack inspiration for blog postings about the matter. That's probably because I have yet to reach a point where I visit the Sephora site and do not feel the urge to buy something. No, this has not happened, not yet, and likely not ever. But my addiction is not always so harmless on my wallet, and while I save money with Sephora coupons, free gifts, and cash back, I am not yet lucky lady on the Millionaire Matchmaker so something's got to give.

Enter Sephora's DIY section, a godsend to my budget and my addiction. I can shop and save money? Perfect. Sephora has you covered on how to skip the spas, do it yourself and save some dough. Some of the products include a professional manicure set for $30 (which pays for itself when you skip one visit to the professional nail salon), Oscar Blandi Pronto OSCARBLANDIRootPen.jpgColore root touch up pen, $23, teeth whitening kits, facial peels, and waxing kits too. If not just for the money saving benefits, visit the DIY section because most girls love to take some time out of her week, put on her favorite guilty pleasure music, light some candles, and have a spa night at home. Check out their extensive sale section too (with some stellar finds for cheap) with deals and specials as well.

MMIMAGE2.jpgThe morning is full of obstacles and dilemmas, such as: what to wear and how not to be late. These two dilemmas are both interconnected and greatly complicated for most women on a regular basis. I also find that the question of "what makeup to wear today" dominates my slightly functional early morning brainwaves. As the days grow longer and slightly warmer, the makeup routine, much like outfits, needs to shift accordingly. If a Spring-appropriate makeup look is what I am after, I must asses what I have to work with: boxes full (overflowing, really) of makeup and beauty products. I think I need some help because my early morning brain is not going to formulate a Spring-like beauty look on its own, and when the midday sun is blazing, I will regret the sleep-deprived, half-awake time saving decision to go for an "au naturale" look for the day.

Luckily for me, and for every woman out there, Lancôme has the answer: a Spring-inspired deluxe free gift! When you spend only $35 (and I recommend buying La Laque Fever to get yourself there) you receive Free Shipping and a fashionable Spring makeup pouch filled with Color Design eyeshadow quad in Volcano, Color Fever Gloss, and best-selling Virtuose mascara. Essentially, this pouch contains everything one needs to get beautiful in the easiest and most time efficient way possible, and it's free! The eyeshadow quad has the shadows you need to create a sultry smoky eye or a soft but defined daytime look. Plus, you can easily carry the entire set with you on the go without adding any extra baggage. A streamlined morning routine that's oh so Spring? I think so!

I had a thought this morning en route to work (public transportation is a surprising muse): instead of writing blog posts as an ode to Sephora and their vast collection of goodies, I should begin a collection of sonnets, as that could be a more appropriate way to pay homage to one of my favorite beauty destinations. Although this would be quite entertaining (and not in an "isn't she amazing" way), I think I will spread the joy the best way we here at Ebates know how: with a blog and a cash back increase for the month of march from 6% to 8%! That extra 2%, along with a multitude of coupons, like free shipping on orders of $35+ with code SHIP35 or a deluxe sample of Fresh Umbrian Clay Face Treatment with code FRESH at checkout, the savings and also the items in your shopping cart surely pile up.

KineraseBlemishDissolver.jpgMy most recent purchase and current obsession is Kinerase Clear Skin Blemish Dissolver, $39. The price is a bit steep, but it is honestly worth every penny (plus you will get free shipping and earn $3.12 in cash back), because it works amazingly well and it is the only product you need to treat skin eruptions. This is the product for people who have sensitive skin with problem areas or the occasional blemish. I have used it for just two days on a small blemish, post-blemish mark, and some blackheads, all of which have dramatically diminished. What was originally a mid-day impulse buy turned out to be one of my favorite purchases, and one that I would recommend that any woman have in their beauty arsenal. Use it twice a day, even on the go, and watch the blemishes dissolve...

Vaseline.jpgRunning late for work on Friday morning, I arrived at my desk, ready to greet the day with coffee in hand and surprising feelings of early-morning, pre-weekend optimism despite my rushing and lethargy. After tackling some work, I checked a mirror and realized that in my rushing around I had forgotten to apply mascara, the ultimate feel-good beauty product, which can transform a face from looking sleepy and over-tired into looking at least somewhat put together. As much as I don't like a too made up face for the daytime, it's nice to at least look like you attempted to pull yourself together for a day at work. I quickly recalled a magazine article, featuring a beauty expert (whose name escapes me at the moment) that recommended applying Vaseline to eyelashes as a makeshift mascara for ladies who had either found themselves in my position or who wanted the most natural look. I reached for my trusty tube of Vaseline (travel size - an amazing little must have, f.y.i) that finds its home in the pen holder on my desk, and I applied liberally to the top and bottom lashes. Viola! I looked like I had the separation and glossy after-effect of a quick coat of mascara. It did not leave me with dramatic peepers, but definitely added something extra to make my eyes appear more awake. Pleased with the result, decided to stockpile tubes of Vaseline, in case I am ever without.

I got a great deal, from drugstore.com with 6% cash back on each tube that cost a mere $3.29. Adding the current drugstore.com Coupon/BOGO sale into the equation, where all Vaseline products are buy one get one 50% off, I got enough Vaseline to coat my lashes at every place my day takes me for under $10. Use this affordable multi-tasker as a highlighter on cheekbones, add it a powder blush for a more natural, radiant look, or to eyelids for a young-fresh looking glow!

ContactLenses.jpgOne way to make shopping for life's necessary, albeit mundane, items more exciting is by seeking out the best deal for those little things we all hate to buy. I will speak for myself here, although I am fairly sure that most people will agree, that contact lenses are probably on the list of the least exciting things a person is forced to buy. Nothing seems worse than shelling out money to see my eye doctor, and then handing over even more money for lenses (that I have to come back to pick up at least a week later). I really like my eye doctor, he's a nice guy, but seeing him and paying him once a year is enough for me.

So being able to purchases contact lenses online, for a vastly cheaper price per box, with exclusive coupons and cash back really makes the entire lens procuring experience much more pleasurable. And on top of savings, you can add the irreplaceable convenience of the the lenses showing up at your door in just a few days.

Ebates offers eight contact lens retailers from 1-800 Contacts with online coupons only to Vision Direct, Lensmart and Coastal Contacts who all offer 7% cash back and special savings coupons to boot. With 7% cash back and a bevvy of money savings coupons, you can really rack up the savings and the cash back! Jennifer-AnistonIt seems everywhere you turn, someone or something is taking a more natural approach. Such was true even at last night's Academy Awards. With the world going green and using less energy, my favorite celebs seemed to be channeling this very idea with minimal styling and primping. Glam goddesses such as Jennifer Aniston went back to basics working in a pretty braid, and a few hot rollers. Beyonce opted for a fresh take on the ponytail, and Sarah Jessica Parker lowered her carbon footprint with a simple part down the middle with some tousled curls. Hollywood is going au naturale, and I'm loving every second of it.

The key to getting a no fuss look, is all in the tools. No matter what your hair type, your hair dryer is the first line of defense against frizzy, unruly hair. Now at Folica Beauty Supply (6% Cash Back) you'll enjoy an extra $20 off all Sedu hair products, including my must have the Tourmaline Ionic Hair Dryer. While conventional hair dryers blast heat into the hair shaft causing it to break and frizz, this hair dryer uses tourmaline crystals which when heated, seal the cuticle locking in moisture and shine. The ion setting allows for static free styling, and the six heat settings guarantee you'll look amazing no matter how what look you're going for.

mrspiggy.jpgAlthough today is meant to be filled with high fructose corn syrup, overbearing perfume, and depressed singles, I'm going to step outside the box and not succumb to the frenzy that is Valentine's Day. After spending two years in overpriced and overcrowded restaurants, the bf and I gave up on going out for a special night. Like a true couple, we now stay home and get everything delivered. As far as my clothing is concerned, let's just say my attire has more flannel than frills this year.

Being that this is a long weekend, I took off to my parents house located in far far away. Besides making s'mores, ignoring my wine intake, and hoping I don't get mauled by a bear, I also have cash back to think about spending. In keeping with today's love theme, I'm going to show some serious love to the most important person in my life: me. I'm taking my cue from the original self-love guru, Ms. Piggy. No other woman loved herself with such passion. She never thought twice about spoiling herself, and neither will I.

I thought I would polish off my V-Day coverage with a special installment of Health and Beauty Thursday. Regardless of what your plans are for the special day, the pomp and ceremony of the holiday can be whittled down to just remembering the importance of putting your best foot forward. Look your best. Buy your loved one gifts all year round and eat lots of chocolate. Wear sexy lingerie for no reason. Then we can avoid the barrage of Valentine's Day for the rest of our lives and get back to talking about more important things like fashion and beauty products.

In light of this revelation, it seems important to consider changing up the beauty routine to make it more Valentine's Day ready all year round. I say wear red lipstick once a week. Not only is it empowering, but it will also make you feel sexy and a little special, even on the most unimportant day of your life. The toughest part of pulling off red lipstick is choosing the right shade for you skin tone. It's mostly a game of trial and error, but fair skinned women should stick to variants on cherry red, olive complected women should look in the direction of fire engine reds, and for those with darker skin tones, deep reds work best.

Once you have the right shade picked out, its important to make sure you are picking a lipstick that is long-wearing, moisturizing and CliniqueLongLast.jpg will not not feather. Clinique's Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick is perfect for the job because it is specially formulated to prevent feathering, staining, and drying out. Get your hands on your right shade directly from Clinique for $14 and enjoy 4% cash back. Plus, take advantage of a free trial size High Impact Mascara (because nothing goes better with red lips than high impact lashes) and free shipping on orders of $35 or more with coupon code FEBHM at checkout.

donald-trump-bad-hair-day.jpgIn a time when even "The Donald" needs to squeeze an extra few weeks in between trims or root touch ups and color appointments, its best to make sure we are using products to make that extra time full of good hair days rather than a stale mix of hats, pony tails, deep side parts, and headbands. So what does a girl need for a time when even your hair is on a budget?

Make sure you are getting the most out of your shampoo and conditioner. Enlist a product regime that provides many results; you want shine, moisture, and volume in a formula full of ingredients to improve the long term health of your hair. Generally speaking, that sounds like a lot to expect from a single product. This list of demands may sound very similar to your list of traits for your dream man, although I promise this one will be much easier to find. I had given up on finding the perfect shampoo (and dream man, for that matter); one that provided the results listed above without costing me over $25 while being good for both the environment and my hair. That was until I found a dream man of sorts (actually a man and woman team, LA-based stylists Amanda George and Neil Weisberg) Neil George.

Alas, yet another Super Bowl Sunday in America is right around the corner. Most people have their traditions, getting together with family, deep frying things, drunken brawls with cousins post-game...I unfortunately do not have any longstanding traditions to look forward to. However, this year a very exciting event has peaked my interest (other than the prospect of baked macaroni and cheese and short lines at the supermarket during game time). In an unlikely match up, Sephora (those geniuses) is offering celebratory free shipping on every order from 1/31 to 2/2 with coupon code SUPERBOWL at checkout. Quite honestly, is there a more appropriate way to show my unbiased support of both teams and the great tradition of football than sitting in the comfort of my own home, face deep in junk food, shopping for makeup with free shipping and 4% cash back? I think not.

SmokyLash.jpgI can say for sure that a replacement tube of Makeup Forever Smoky Lash will be in my shopping cart, and I wholeheartedly recommend that you put one in yours too. As if I needed an excuse to praise my newest mascara obsession... allow me to list some things that make it praiseworthy. First, in a time where a $30 mascara doesn't cause beauty junkies to bat an eye, the $22 price is reasonable; especially with respect to how well this mascara works. It is at least four separate formulas in one. It thickens, lengthens, and holds a fantastic curl whilst providing the darkest black pigment without weighing lashes down. And for those of you traditionalists out there who are put off by the novelty application brush of some brands (Givenchy's Phenomen' Eyes, I still love you, I really do) Smoky Lash has the "Cadillac" of application brushes: perfect. classic. reliable. Makes any woman want to lash up.

This Superbowl, begin your own tradition with the help of Sephora and get free shipping on your favorite products (need I remind you, that it is like getting $5.95 off), 4% cash back, and something pretty to look forward to in five to seven business days.

Shop on!

If you find that you have your makeup routine memorized to a point where you could literally apply every single product in your regime with your eyes closed or when you are half asleep, then it could be time to shake things up. We all have the bastard makeup items that stay hidden in the back of drawers, tucked inside dusty cases, and buried in old purses. But what happens to all the unused makeup techniques? The great thing about makeup and beauty products is that there really are no restrictions. Unlike fashion, where certain things are simply taboo or inappropriate, makeup is a fun way to express yourself and a great way to try new things and feel a little different for a day or night.

011609_goodwin_400X400.jpgMost women have their own modus operandi for applying eyeliner. Some apply thick lines, inner and outer lash line, there are thin lines, crooked lines, dashes, cat eyes. Essentially there is no single right or wrong way (I suppose some professionals would argue otherwise) to line the eye. Lately, it seems that partially lined eyes are making an appearance. Instyle.com tells us how to get the partially lined look as seen on Ginnifer Goodwin (pictured left). I really like the look, it is subtle and natural looking, which is a nice reprieve from the heavy liquid liner trend. Plus it makes eyes look bigger and more open, which is great for day time and when you are feeling a little too tired.

Eyeliner.jpgGet this look in a flash with Avon ANEW Smoothing Eyeliner. At a great bargain of just $6, with 5% cash back, this product is formulated with retinol to aid in diminishing fine lines and it will go on smoothly to avoid the dreaded pull and tug of other liners. Plus, it has has a smudger on the end, which is key for this look. Get it by drawing a line from pupil to outer corner on the top lid. Follow with the same technique on the lower lash line. Use the smudger on the end to blend where the lines meet at the outer corner of the eye. And Viola, you are done!

So add this trick to the routine and who knows, it could even change how you line your eyes forever!

People often say that when you encounter your soulmate, you know it immediately. I am admittedly skeptical of this frame of mind, but then again, it has never happened to me. That is, until I came across something magnificent, something so beautiful and perfect, I knew it would complete me and in that instant my tireless search was finally over.

LaLaqueFever.jpgWhen I saw Lancome's Spring 2009 collection, I was excited to take a look, but when I saw the newest shade of La Laque Fever, I knew I was in love. I had been looking for the perfect shade of electric pink lipgloss to complete my pink lip color collection, and this color is definitely the missing link. ElectricPink.gifThe color is concentrated and opaque, as you would expect from a lipstick, however, it has the easy application and shine expected of a great gloss. To add to the perfection, the gloss is extremely long lasting and claims to require no touch ups for six hours. It is available directly from Lancome for $26 with 6% cash back. To make the entire purchase even more appealing, if you spend $50, you will receive a deluxe sample and free shipping. Sometimes when you can't fall in love, you can buy the most perfect gloss.

As a woman who lugs around more beauty products than I care to admit, streamlining the "must not be without" products is always a big relief both to my arm and to my wallet. And judging by the overflowing makeup bags I have spotted women whipping out of their purses, I am not alone. There is truly nothing wrong with being prepared for any skin aliment or beauty crisis, or  having enough products on hand to transform your "low maintenance" makeup look into "night on the town" ready. I am sure our cavewoman ancestors were just as equally prepared, but, of course not with products from beauty emporiums on the internet. It is just proof that we have gracefully evolved to take advantage of all things offered to us.

ProblemSalvedjpg.jpgOne of these such things is a sale on Bliss's multi-tasking  wonder-balm Problem Salved. Buy two for just $31 from Bliss Spa with 4% cash back. Originally $18 each, you save 15% on each tube. This 20-in-1 stick can soothe skin problems from dry cuticles, to bug bites, can keep eyebrows in place and flyways at bay. Better yet, it can prevent blisters for those times when you wear your ill-fitting favorite shoes and encounter an unexpected walk.

So, buy this product through Ebates, de-clutter the makeup bag, and lighten your load. You'll save some money and earn some cash back, all without sacrificing your need to be prepared and look great. Now, who is the multi-tasker?

With the long weekend approaching, and vacation plans nowhere in sight, many of us need, at the very least, to feel like we are getting away without the luxury of actually leaving. If you are lucky enough to go on a vacation for a few days - I say go, enjoy, and book through Ebates, where you can find fantastic travel deals with cash back and coupons. If you are like me, and your vacation is limited to fantasies in your head, it is important to toss something new into the routine to keep the long weekend from being a reminder of your less-than-fantastic travel plans.

Although fake tans get a very bad wrap, a subtle bronze can make someone feel and look like they have spent the long weekend being lulled to sleep by the tropical waves of the ocean, whilst on a blanket warmed by the sizzling sand and being kissed by the gentle rays of the sun. So, if you can't actually get away this weekend, why not take some time to give yourself a refreshing faux-glow?

The important thing to remember is to keep it subtle and natural looking, I like to think of self-tanning less as achieving tan-looking skin and more as taking the "edge off" of a Wintery white face. This time of year, unless aided by a professional, it is best to only apply self-tanner to the face, making subtlety even more crucial. Find a formula that is designed for fair skin, even if you are not fair skinned. It is the surest way to a natural bronze and a great starting point to build upon if you so please.

Clarins.jpg
My personal favorite is Self-Tanning Liquid Bronze, available with 12% cash back from Clarins. While shopping, keep in mind that you get free shipping and a complimentary gift with orders of $75+, when you use coupon code CLRNEW at checkout. This product is designed to be natural and subtle while being good for your skin. It smells amazing (so you don't reek of that tell-tale self-tanning stench) and also has vitamin E and aloe to soften and nourish the delicate skin on the face and decollete. Also, you can apply with a cotton ball and instantly apply makeup so there is no waiting with your fingers crossed. The result of two to three days of use is slightly bronzed and refreshed skin.

JergensSPF20.jpg
For a similar product that does not break the budget, order Jergens's Natural Glow Face with SPF 20, available from drugstore.com for $7.49 with 6% cash back. This product was created to give a person control over the level of tan they want to achieve with the "au naturale" look in mind. Use daily for a gradual presence of color and keep applying until you reach the level of bronze you desire.

With Spring's beauty trends all about the bronze glow, hop on the bandwagon early, escape Winter's peaked skin, and come out on the other side of the long weekend looking like you got some sun, even if you never leave your house.

Man, with Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve back-to-back Wednesdays, it feels like it's been forever since I last wrote a "Did you know?" feature, and it feels great to be behind the keyboard again for this perennially fun segment. Considering the time of the year, I consider it apropos that today's featured site is all about personal improvement. Verseo.com has a vast array of personal training and wellness accessories, from exercise equipment to power cleanses, stress erasers to hair growth, even hair removal. Basically, if there is something about your body that you'd like to do a little touching up to, this site has some sort of product that will allow you to do just that.

To be completely honest, I'm fascinated by a number of their products. I would love to try some of their detox patches or even home electrolysis options. There is one item, however, that fascinates me more than most, and that is the Body Burner. I actually think it's a great workout tool. It comes with instructional DVDs that cater to varied skill levels, and it is designed for low-impact workouts, which is great for folks with chronic knee problems (kind of like myself). Plus, it really just looks like it would be fun to work out on. body burner.jpgHowever there is just one issue I take with this product. It's not the price, it's not the space it takes up; it's the "numerical dance platform." I understand the idea behind it, and I think it's great: this way anyone using the Body Burner can know where they should be facing and turning at all times. But look closely. That is not a platform, it's a trampoline. Let's call a spade a spade: this exercise machine is a trampoline. The numerical design is innovative, and I love the idea of a trampoline for low-impact exercise. But don't call it a "dance platform" folks. We're getting a trampoline exercise program, which I'm sure works well. I'd gladly spend the $59.95 for this package, complete with "dance platform", stability bar, DVDs, and even a nutrition guide, especially knowing I'll get 9% cash back on any Verseo purchase. My only hesitation is that nowhere in this whole product description does the word "trampoline" arise.

So, whatever your exercise, fitness, or personal care needs may be, be sure to check out all the innovative products available at Verseo, all of which can be had with 9% cash back by using your Ebates account. They also have an interesting blog called "Beauty Secrets by Mary" where the ladies can get all sorts of tips on looking their best and men can get all sorts of tips on understanding ladies.

Some people like change; they find it exciting and even invigorating. Others prefer to remain in a routine, where life is familiar and therefore comforting. Change is healthy, everything in the natural world changes and we are no different. Most people who are obsessed with beauty products are those who enjoy change and use their beauty and cosmetics regime to impose change on a daily basis because you can easily change your eye makeup, lipstick and hair style for the day. If you want to take it to another level and really change your regime on the regular, you can check out the "World of Jo Malone" fragrances. Each scent is multi-faceted, complex, and meant to be layered or combined with other fragrances, thus the ability to create a different scent almost everyday. I have a bit of a collecting problem with Jo Malone fragrances, I own quite a few and I love to mix and match the scents, layer with body lotion or body wash and concoct a different scent everyday. You can even take this to an entirely different level and combine fragrances in the home, in a practice Malone calls scent surround. You can find the complete collection of Jo Malone at Nordstrom along with more information about Malone's signature scent combining.

Another helpful hint: if you are sick of your current fragrance, but are not ready to dump the bottle or let it collect dust on your vanity, you can layer a Jo Malone fragrance with it and come up with a completely different scent. Also, apply fragrances to different parts of your body, for example one scent on your wrist and another on your neck.

OragneBlossom.jpg

Get introduced to Jo Malone with the perennial favorite and best seller (also the first in my arsenal) Orange Blossom, a light and floral fragrance made with the scents of with clementine and water Lilly, available online at Nordstrom for $55 for a 10z bottle with 3% cash back. It is light enough to layer amazingly with a variety of scents but robust enough to wear alone.

SweetLime&Cedar3oz.jpg

Or, explore the newest newest addition, Sweet Lime and Cedar (shown above in the 3.4oz bottle for $100), a fragrance inspired by the diverse flavors of Thai Cuisine. It perfectly balances zesty fruits with fragrant, aromatic leaves, delicate flowers, spices, and nutty woods, mirroring the balance of diverse flavors found in the cuisine. This one is truly as amazing as it sounds, and rest assured, you will not smell like food.

So spice up the routine and change a little something else everyday. It feels (and smells) great.

Back from Boston, I find myself truly wanting to better my life in the New Year. Having arrived home from my trip at 1:00 a.m. I also find myself extremely sleep deprived to the point where hallucinating seems almost inevitable. If it weren't for the kind heart of my family, who arranged for a driver to pick me up at the god forsaken hour at which I landed, I would probably still be wandering the Oakland airport like a zombie. A very well dressed zombie, but nonetheless, a zombie. As the haze of my trip is starting to lift, I now have the daunting task of how to go about this "New Year, New Me" attitude. Certainly I can't be expected to do a 180 overnight, however instead of unrealistic expectations, I am choosing to focus on three major things that need changing in my life. These would be travel, body, and attire. The key step to ensuring that I achieve all three of my goals is to save my money, and stop overspending on things I could find for less through Ebates. A tight wallet will help me focus on what is truly a necessity and what is not.

Green Drink.jpgAs for the body change, there's several things that need improving, and I'm not talking about "weight" as most people tend to obsess over. What I am talking about is the overall health and maintenance of my body, and for once I'll focus on the inside. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind, and this Green Drink from Institute For Vibrant Living is the best way to get all the benefits of green grasses and other cancer-preventing vegetables. Filled with anti-oxidants, enzymes, vitamins, and minerals, this powder is what I like to call the stuff of life. It contains no allergens or pesticides, and as a green drinker I can honestly say that you will feel an improvement in your overall body health. Since starting this daily health boost, I've noticed that I crave sugar and carbs less, which is a miracle unto itself. Most health food stores sell these green powdered drinks for upwards of $40, but I found this for under twenty. Being an Ebates member means I earn 8% cash back, making my bank account healthy as well.

My next goal to overall body maintenance is the dreaded moisturizing of my skin. I couldSkin Trip Lotion.jpg quite possibly be the only woman who hates this regimen, yet applying lotion during the cold winter months is not my cup of tea. However much I hate this chore, not doing so is leaving my body to resemble that of tree bark. Needless to say, this is not a look I am going for, and can be prevented with the help of Mountain Ocean Skin Trip. This lotion is not only natural (no toxins) but it dries fast and smells like coconut. I can't count the times I have been complimented on this lotion, and between the bf and myself, the bottle goes fast. Like most natural products, this one can be expensive if purchased at your local health food stores. Luckily for me, I found this on sale for under eight dollars at MotherNature.com, a mecca for all things natural and organic. Compared to the $12 I would pay elsewhere, I see no reason to ever pay top dollar again. Earning 7% cash back is reason enough to always shop Ebates.

Living in San Francisco will turn anyone into a relative health nut, and I am a perfect example of this. Once a fast food eater, I have taken significant steps in changing my diet, and my waistline reflects this. No one is perfect, yet if you're going to make positive changes to your body, keep in mind that Ebates has several merchants catering to this cause. Below are just a few more of our merchants that make the change easier..and much cheaper!

Drugstore.com Has hundreds of natural body, hair, and household products.

Vitacost.com Has discounted vitamins and other supplements.

MotherNature.com Has everything from supplements to cookbooks, beauty products to cleaning products, all natural and/or organic. They also cater to kosher goods.

Institute For Vibrant Living Has natural supplements that support digestive health, weight management, colon health, and much more. No speed-like diet pills, or unknown chemicals in the products on this site.

Now that the holidays are over, we can get back to important things like replenishing the meager beauty cabinet, tending to the closet, and getting ready to welcome 2009. As many of us are forced to prioritize what we need versus what we want while recuperating from the financial strain of the holidays, making smart choices about what to buy is as important as ever. I was feeling empowered by this sentiment, and came across the Big Beauty Sale at Sephora. In all of my time as a Sephora shopper, I have never seen a sale like this, where the most coveted items in makeup, skincare, and fragrance are up to 75% off. You'll even receive free shipping on orders of $50 or more.

Brushes.jpg

Did Santa forget to bring you a few items? Then now is the perfect time to get what you wanted, or simply to stock up on great beauty buys and wrap up 2008 the right way. I am planning on buying some makeup brushes, like the Sephora Brand Professional Set, once $54, now only $29 with 8% cash back. This is a great collection of travel brushes that will keep you looking flawless on the go, but will not weigh you down either.

NARS.jpg

I will put my new brushes to good use with this NARS Limited Eyeshadow Palette, now just $45. This is a great value because it is filled with six must-have shades that will work to create virtually any look I am feeling that day or night. Plus, NARS eyeshadows are both highly pigmented and long lasting so I don't have to carry the compact along with me; but it is so chic I just might want to!

While it used to be considered rather insensitive to give money for the holidays, retailers have taken the taboo out of not knowing what to get someone and turned it into something desirable. Thanks to the rise of the gift card, anyone can purchase them for any person, from any store, and for any reason. Beyond the holiday season, gift cards are perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, you name it. Being that it's Christmas Eve and the frantic search for the perfect gift is over, now is the time to relax and enjoy the presents coming. In celebration of the receiving of gifts, here is a list of my most wanted Gift Cards, and the things I would buy with them.

Sephora Gift Card.jpg1. Number one on my list would be a gift card to beauty heaven, also know as Sephora. Although my attempts at make-up application have sometimes been frightening, I still enjoy the task of picking out the perfect shades of eye shadow, finding the best blush, and the greatest task of all, matching my skin tone to a new foundation. In a perfect world, I would receive a gift card in the amount of $500, but I'll happily settle for $75.

2. My second choice for must have Gift Cards is none else but Shopbop.com. Those of youMalababa Bag.jpg who have been faithfully reading my blog (bless you) will know all about my obsessive tendencies to hunt through this site on a daily basis. Top on my list of items from this mega cool website is the Filomena Bag by Malababa. Also known as the chicest of briefcases, this bag will be complimenting my outfits for decades to come.

Best Buy Zune.jpg3. The next give-it-to-me Gift Card is none other than electronics central; Best Buy. Before I go and state my case, let me preface by saying that when it comes to electronics, I don't see what the big deal is. Blue-Ray, HD, blah blah blah. A TV is a TV, and if you want to be "in the movie", then I suggest an acting coach and a ticket to LA. It's because of this attitude that I rarely step inside a mega-chain store such as this, but for the few times that I have needed an electro-improvement, Best Buy offers the biggest selection and the best prices. Topping my list is a Zune 120gb MP3 Player. Alas after five years, the iPod Mini is dying a very slow death, and needs some serious upgrading such as more music space and the ability to watch videos.

Unlike most people, I rarely feel the anxiety of getting older around my birthday. Rather, I become hyper-aware of the passage of time on the crux of a new year. As I peer towards 2009, I actually feel like another year is about to pass, and I am aware now more than ever how fast time goes by. Only adding to this sentiment is that while watching the news last night, I heard the broadcaster say "A 25 year old  woman..." and I thought to myself, woman? The broadcaster was right. Calling the subject of the news story a 25 year old girl would not be appropriate. So, I suppose, to quote Britney Spears, "I am not a girl and not yet a woman." Actually, I am now a woman, and let me accept that fact with joy. Now that I can think of myself proudly as a woman, I should perhaps take a more woman-like approach to all aspects of my life: fiances, wardrobe, frequency of house-cleaning, and, skincare regime. I suppose it is time to take a preventative approach to my skincare.

Clarins.jpgFirst things first: always wear sun protection daily. While I loathe the sticky white film left by most sunscreens, this Clarins UV Plus Day Screen High Protection SPF 40 from Sephora for $40 with 8% cash back glides on smoothly and leaves no trace on the skin, which will make it easy enough to be protected. While I am using my Sephora Gift Card (that I will surely acquire over the holiday) I will also pick up this Peter Thomas Roth Age Defense Kit for $45, a $95 value. PTRAgeDefense.jpg

While it may be slightly too advanced for my skin, I figure I can try out some products, give what I don't want to my mom, and defend my skin from harmful aging factors. And I can use up my gift card and earn 8% cash back. Well, aren't I being a resourceful woman...

QueenHelene.jpgSomething happened last night that changed my life. When I discovered a small blemish on my face, instead of following my usual path of picking until red, swollen, and sore, I practiced some self-restraint and reached instead for my trusty tube of Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. I put a little on the spot and woke up to a smaller, less irritated (and therefore easy to conceal) spot. The Masque is a perennial favorite in my ever-expanding medicine cabinet because it is truly a miracle worker on skin conditions of all types. From blemishes to bug bites - this product will clear anything away. There is a reason Mint Julep has been a favorite since it was developed it 1930.

While singing the praise of Mint Julep (oh wait that was my pleasant neighbor who seems to have the Chicago soundtrack on repeat and is auditioning from her bathroom), I realized that the best part of Mint Julep is that it is effective and just $3.99 with 7% cash back at Drugstore.com. For $3.99 this bottle will literally last for at least a couple years and is a cute little retro addition to a girl's skincare regime. Got a beauty junkie on your list? This makes a perfect (and low-cost) stocking stuffer.

Of the many charming qualities I possess (wink wink), gift giving is not one of them. Frankly, I am just not an adept gift giver. Good shopper, yes. Good Samaritan, sometimes. Good at finding the perfect gift for someone, no. This personality defect only becomes a major problem once a year, so I have learned to live with it as I gently glaze over Christmas Gift time quietly and stealthy, with nice (just not perfect) gifts for everyone on my list. This year, I have decided to overcome the "bad gift giver" flaw and make the attempt at the elusive Perfect Gift.

Frankly, the odds are in my favor, and with my Ebates arsenal of over 1,000+ merchants, I really have no excuse. I have done a good job so far. I have my gifts and stocking stuffers picked out. Except for that one person on my list: the one who has everything and therefore is impossible to buy for. This person shall remain nameless, because this person does read my blog and I don't want to spoil the excitement of what might possibly be the best gift for the person who has everything.

GreenDimes.jpgMuch to my excitement, I stumbled upon this Green Dimes Eliminate Home Junk Mail Gift Card, for just $19.99 with 7% cash back at Drugstore.com. This amazing gem promises to eliminate 90% of your home junk mail and plants up to five trees in your name! So not only do you give the gift of saying goodbye to annoying catalogs for stores where the previous resident shopped, but also the unwanted credit card offers that threaten the safety of your identity. This is a gift of joy and peace of mind - make someone you love the King of their mailbox once again and do something good for the earth in the meantime.

Monopoly.jpgIf the Green Dimes gift card does not seem like it will bring tears of joy to the recipient, the Sephora Brand Monopoly surely will. Sephora has teamed up with Monopoly to create a beauty-full edition of the classic game where you - Go To Jail for bad hair days, Advance To Go for winning a shopping spree, and pay for your products with Beauty Bucks. The special edition game sells $23.50 with 8% cash back, plus this items ships for free with code SHOPNOW (hurry, ends tonight). This is a great gift that will bring a sincere smile to the face of every man woman and child who has dreamed of taking over the world vis-à-vis their beauty product empire.

In the lunch room at work this afternoon, we somehow got on the topic of dental hygiene. You'll be very happy to know that it turns out most Ebates employees (at least those who were dining in the lunch room today) are all avid brushers, flossers, and a few are even mouthwash enthusiasts. I, like my co-workers, can't get enough of that freshly-brushed feeling that most people only enjoy but once or twice a day.

Still, no matter how meticulously you care for your teeth, most people ignore the other major component of dental hygiene: the toothbrush. While we may buy wonderful and futuristic electronic toothbrushes or just get the newest latest traditional brush with hand-selected bristles or magical alignment, most people I know treat their toothbrush in the same manner: pick up, apply toothpaste, brush, rinse, replace in holder or cup, repeat.  It's a time-honored process that most everyone grew up with. I am no exception. However, after doing a little research, I discovered that there could still be thousands of germs and bacteria all over my brush every time I put it back in its designated spot, and that's just gross.

The solution? The VIOlight Zapi. This silly looking little egg-shaped marvel contains a special UV light that helps sanitize your brush after every use. sanitizer.jpg It really seems about as simple as can be possible: set it inside the housing and press a button, and the Zapi takes care of the rest. And by "the rest" I mean massacring germs and bacteria. So if you want a clean, fresh, and, most importantly, healty mouth, this is the product for you. Right now they're in stock and on sale at drugstore.com for $29.99, with 7% cash back. They're available in four colors, so you can find the one that best matches your personality (or just your bathroom) and it even comes with a matching toothbrush. But fear not, you don't need to use their supplied brush; the Zapi sanitizer it compatible with most every "traditional style" toothbrush or electric toothbrush head. From what I can gather "tradtional" just means that it's long, narrow and has bristles that you clean your teeth with.

If you have any questions about the Zapi, you can check out the user's manual in .pdf format here

With a skincare market full of $600 anti-wrinkle creams, $80 facial cleansers and procedures that require you to go under the knife, it is obvious that women are fervently looking to turn back the hands of time and get anti-aging results regardless of the cost. For those women who seek distinct results without the surgery or the gut-wrenching prices of some other brands, Olay Professional has the solution for you. Available now for pre-sale (due to the insanely high demand) at Drugstore.com for $51.50 and free shipping ($10 off suggested retail), is the Olay Professional Pro-X Anti-Aging starter Kit. This is not your average drugstore skincare line. In fact, this kit is filled with three essential scientifically developed and clinically proven products that are guaranteed to provide results.

Olay.JPGThe starter kit comes with three products: Age Repair Lotion with SPF30 intended to protect skin, Wrinkle Smoothing Cream intended to transform the skin by improving texture and tone while diminishing the look of fine lines and wrinkles, and the Eye Restoration Complex, which targets the delicate eye area, smoothing puffiness, dark circles, and crows feet. All of the products work by re-signaling the skin's moisture barrier and boosting the skin's turnover rate to encourage the skin to preform like it did when it was younger.

The kit packs some major bang for only $50 and is subsequently creating a major buzz with beauty junkies and skincare professionals alike. Pre-sale begins now, and the product is intended to ship on December 23, 2008. It would make a great gift for the woman on your list who needs to try all the new and cutting edge beauty products. But don't wait! This product is going fast! Save $10 and get 7% cash back, which is nothing to furrow your brow over. In fact, show some smile lines and save big!

The smoky eye look has remained a prominent trend in the beauty sphere for quite some time now. It's an ultra-feminine sultry look that instantly glamorizes your look and can update an old party dress in virtually an instant.

smokyeye.jpg

This look that requires some definite makeup application skill, and should not be taken lightly. It appears easy to achieve and somewhat haphazard on the models, but those models are gracing the runways of top designers for Spring 2009 like Matthew Williamson, Caroline Hererra and Nicole Miller to name a few, which means they have professionally trained makeup artists helping them achieve this look. But for those of us who can't afford our own makeup artists, it is probably one of the more difficult makeup tricks to master, save the cat-lined eye.

Stila.jpg
Cosmetics powerhouse Stila has removed the guesswork from the smoky eye by putting a step-by-step recording right into the smoky eye palette, essentially bringing the professional makeup artist to you. You press the button and a recording talks you through the five steps of an expert smoky eye using the universally-flattering coordinating shades. This little gem is available at Beauty.com for $40 with 7% cash back. So get ready for all your holiday parties and be prepared for the fresh Spring beauty trends of next year.

I am a big fan of gifts that come ready to be stuffed in a stocking or put under the tree. Despite all the things I love about Christmas and general Yule, I am not a big fan of wrapping. Perhaps it was because I was enslaved by my mother as a child as her wrapping buddy - because "Little Fingers are better at tying bows". Although I cherish those moments, I am never in to mood to sit down and wrap gifts, which is why I love that you can find the perfect gift for anyone that is prepackaged to be enjoyed - straight from store to tree. I feel this way about this Shu Umera 24K Gold Eyelash Curler for $24 with 8% cash back from Sephora. Not only is the Shu Umera Eyelash Curler an essential must-have in any beauty regimen, it is also perfectly pretty plated in 24K gold and ready to give in this decorative red box. I plead: Santa, if you're listening, I really want one.

With all the uncertainty involved with the harmful effects of chemicals found in traditional antiperspirants and deodorants, I have undergone a personal quest to find an all-natural alternative that actually works, meaning, keeping me fresh all day. I have tried many different brands and types, all of which have not lived up to my high standards. Unwilling to concede and accept the fact that a natural deodorant couldn't work as well as a chemically made one, I have scoured the ends of the health and beauty world to find a fair substitute.

I fell in love with L'Occitane Aromachologie Purifying Deodorant, available at the I very reluctantly moved on from this product and purchased Aubrey Organics Natural Roll-On Deodorant for $7.69 with 7% cash back from Drugstore.com. This product is completely natural, contains potent anti-oxidants, goes on clear and is not tested on animals. It is also biodegradable and recyclable. My verdict is that this brand is "so far so good." I feel great about using a product that is great for my body and environmentally conscious too. If you are going to toss your deodorant and go the au natural route, take note that it does take some time for your body to adjust to a new product before you can observe the benefits of a natural formula. And on a packaging note, it is quite cute. It also smells good without being overpowering and is not sticky  so it makes for a fantastic unisex brand.

09pulse600 According to a economic barometer fondly called "The Lipstick Index" (reference a New York Times article printed Sunday) reports that during the last three months, cosmetic sales have been on the rise despite the sluggish economy. Meaning in a bad economy women still splurge on little "pick me ups", a.k.a. lipstick and cosmetics, when they can not always justify other, pricier things. Regardless of whether that is true for you or not, personally speaking, I am always spending my money on both, much to the chagrin of my savings account.

The real exiting aspect of the article is when they list the top 41 lipsticks, from merely  $1.99 to over $50, so there is something to splurge on for every budget. What the article failed to mention, was that most all of these best selling lipsticks are available though Ebates with cash back! To see the entire list and read the article, click here.

Here is our list of the Top ten available with the most cash back!

1. Pur Minerals lipstick in Raspberry Quartz, $15 with 10% cash back.

Bblogo Welcoming Bobbi Brown to the list of Ebates merchants in the Heath and Beauty category is equatable to inviting the Poet Laureate to a reading. Bobbi Brown is one of the major innovators who transformed the health and beauty industry into what we know today. She was one of the first (after Max Factor, the man who is said to have coined the term makeup) makeup artists turned Beauty entrepreneurs who helped build the empire that has since taken women by storm. Bobbi Brown's name is on some of the industry's best products ranging from skin care to color to makeup brushes. Now, all of this is available to you, with 4% cash back. Toolsaccessoriesnov08

Most adults who partake in teeth staining activities say, drinking coffee, red wine, tea, or anything else that can tarnish your teeth have a moment when they look in the mirror and realize that their pearly whites are neither pearly nor white. Keeping you smile up to par is especially important if you are planning on being in photographs for a wedding or Holiday cards. Hamilton

Either way, maintaining a healthy white smile can be just as important as the makeup you use or the clothes you wear. Although, beware of "glow in the dark" white teeth, they are both unnatural looking and frighteningly unattractive.

Kit Professional whitening and regular dentist visits are always recommended, especially if you have really tough stains or desire to make your teeth dramatically whiter. However, at-home kits and whitening toothpastes can do the trick for brightening your smile. There are many whitening kits on the market. Most of the drugstore toothpaste brands have some kind of whitening kit, usually in the form of strips. A main complaint I share with people who have used brands of whitening strips is that they are slimy and slip off your teeth, preventing the whitening solution from really penetrating stains. According to Real Simple Magazine, in a feature on the best teeth whiteners on the market,  Rembrandt Whitening Strips stay in place, are not slimy, and make your teeth much whiter in just five days. Rembrandt's Strips are currently on sale at Drugstore.com, for $19.99 with 7% cash back. You save $4 off the listing price. The strips are much cheaper than some of the others and boast great results in a limited amount of time.

Touchups

To maintain a white smile after using the strips, without giving up your coffee, I recommend these GO SMILE Touch Up ampules. For $39 at Beauty.com with 7% cash back, you receive a kit of thirty breath-freshening, stain erasing mini whiteners that are easy to use and touch up on the go. These are perfect to carry around in your purse or briefcase, and can prepare you for a spur of the moment photo-op, a hot date, or a public speaking event. I tried these over the weekend, they work wonders! Plus, you can shop Beauty.com and partner site Drugstore.com, pay one flat rate for shipping and get both delivered to your door in just a few short days.

Toothpaste Keep your smile sparkling and your teeth healthy with a set of GO SMILE Whitening Toothpastes for AM and PM.  The set of two, sells for $30 at Sephora with 8% cash back. These whitening, good for your teeth toothpastes have aromatherapy benefits to calm for PM and energize for AM. They have essential oils, naturally hydrated silica which safely polishes away stains to maintain your white smile, and the doctor recommended amount of fluoride to prevent decay and strengthen tooth enamel. These are definitely worth the little splurge because they taste great and contain healthy and natural ingredients, keeping your smile bright after all the work you have done to whiten! Compared to a professional whitening system, this is a great way to get results and save money while earning some extra cash back shopping through Ebates! You don't see that at your dentist's office.

So before you buy that statement red lipstick or take holiday photos, brighten that smile and give yourself a mini-makeover and boost of confidence for less. Shop on!

Beauty It is a common myth that chocolate is bad for you, and it is even said that  chocolate is the culprit for  bad skin flareups like acne. Au contraire, myth. The truth is that chocolate is actually good for you!  Spread the word and the joy by giving someone on your list (or yourself) the gift of good taste and a container of "Health By Chocolate" Beauty Bars from Norm Thomson for $27.95 with 1% cash back. These "blissfully delicious" individually wrapped dark chocolate bars are packed with beneficial antioxidants and minerals and were formulated by a holistic dermatologist.

Choose from two kinds; either Beautiful Skin Bars, packed with Omega 3/6/9-rich cranberry seed oil and lutein, which helps fight free radicals. These bars also contains the disease-fighting antioxidant lycopene, and astaxanthin—a skin protector that's more powerful than vitamin E. One a day is the most delicious "medicine" ever!

Or, choose the Healthy Bones Bars with orange-flavored rich Swiss chocolate delivers sea algae-based calcium brimming with natural trace minerals and a natural vitamin K/D blend to support bone health. These amazing bars give a whole new meaning to eating right!

All talk about the health benefits of chocolate has me wondering; would it be bad to give someone both? Someone like myself?

Plus, they are fantastic for mid-day touch ups or to freshen up from work to cocktail hour.

With great products like this, you will be on your way to a free, personalized gift in no time. P.S., the petite sizes make great stocking suffers!

Icon It was just yesterday, that we welcomed the online boutique Goldyn to the Ebates merchant family. Today, we can warmly welcome Smashbox Cosmetics offering 4% cash back to the health and beauty category. Although Smashbox products have been available through other merchants in the past, there is definitely something to be said about visitng a brand's own website, where you can really get a feel for the brand and seek advice from a Smashbox expert through live chat, email, or by phone. They also have a great interactive site. You can recieve special gifts through a program they call "Let's Do Lunch" where every Tuesday and Thursday you can shop between 9am and 2pm PST and get a free gift with every order. Plus, since Smashbox is such a fixure in providing makeup looks for fashion shows, they have a get the look feauture (my personal favorite) where they provide a step-by-step tutorial about how to achieve some of the most trend-setting and coveted makeup looks for every season. Like this beautiful look from the Spring 2008 show of Whitley Kros. Whitleykros Just beause this look is from past season does not mean its passe. This look is a perfect way to brighten up a drab fall day and when is a classicly lined eye and a healthy-glow not in style?. Shop Smashbox and browse many more "get the look" features and an array of innovative products with 4% cash back!

As the most traveled day of the year quickly approaches, Americans brace themselves for an onslaught of travel annoyances, delays, and setbacks summed up in one word: nightmare. I am grateful there is the prospect of turkey on the other side of my plane ride, and I am sure that this is the same sentiment that motivates people to contend with the hassle.

Ok_liquids As Thanksgiving eve approaches, I start to obsessively plan my travel modus operandi. One of the many things that freaks me out about flying (other than the prospect of death) is making the choice of whether or not to check my luggage. I can either risk loss or damage and extra long lines to check a bag or simply carry on a bag, which is also problematic. I fear the idiot trying to push his giant bag into the overhead compartment as he crushes all my valuables. I was a devoted "carry-oner" until the TSA regulations mandated that all liquids must be 3 ounce or less and fit inside of a quart-sized baggie. I need to have a nice sampling of all my beauty products to feel grounded and comfortable when I leave home. That image to the left is my worst nightmare. There is no way I could survive on that!

Praise the geniuses of the beauty industry for producing travel-sized containers of quality beauty products. I can now stuff that quart-sized bag with miniaturized containers of my favorite products. And we can all enjoy the trip to the airport just a little bit more.

Travelset Some of the best travel sized kits out there are good quality and easy on the budget, especially if you are a regular in the friendly skies. For skincare, this Murad travel kit is perfect. For $12.95, you get a great kit to keep your skin healthy and glowing while away (it's also a great way to try products before shelling out the money for a full size). The Murad four piece Travel Essentials Kit comes with bestselling products like their hydrating toner and SPF eye-cream. Its truly a must-have for just $12.95 plus 11% cash back. At Beauty.com, you can buy this L'Occitane Getaway set, a $52 value for only $35 with 8% cash back. This eight piece set comes with everything you need for your hair and body. The set has shampoo and conditioner, body wash, lotion, hand cream, and bar soap. You can pick and choose which of these products you want to tote with you, and then store the rest for later. It's a great investment and will last forever, and will keep you looking good and breezing though travel lines!

Bottles Another great way to bypass check-in hassles whilst being eco-friendly and frugal is to pick up some travel sized bottles from the Container Store. Prices range from less than one dollar to $7.99 for a full travel set, all with 4% cash back. You can borrow product from your own full sized containers and easily pack these into the mandated baggie. Plus they are leak-proof, because we have all been there...

Book your travel through Ebates to earn cash back and make the flying experience that much more bearable!

Womens Fragrances make excellent gifts. This is mostly because you are buying someone a thoughtful luxury that, perhaps, they wouldn't buy themselves. This warm-hearted sentiment can sometimes become problematic if you are unaware of what fragrance the gift recipient likes or, if you do not like their chosen fragrance and want to break them of that habit. This is where my new favorite holiday gift comes into play: the Sephora Scent Sampler Best Sellers For Her, available with 8% cash back (was 4% -- woo hoo increased holiday cash back! Learn more here). What makes this little sample set so genius is that not only are you giving ten deluxe samples of Sephora's top selling fragrances (Aquolina Pink Sugar, Bulgari Omnia Crystalline, Calvin Klein Euphoria, Givenchy Very Irresistible Givenchy Sensual, Marc Jacobs Daisy, Philosophy Amazing Grace, Stella McCartney Stella, and Vera Wang Princess), the set actually comes with a Sephora gift certificate to purchase a full-sized bottle of your favorite after you are done sampling! So basically, you are giving someone the gift of ten deluxe samples and one full sized bottle of a best-selling fragrance. It might just be magical.

Mens Gents, don't despair. There is also a Men's Scent Sampler Best Sellers as well! And the set includes top sellers like: Bulgari Aqua Pour Homme Marine,Yves Saint Laurent L'Homme, Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gio Pour Homme and many more! Truly, this is a gift-giving must-have for anyone on your list. Plus you get whopping 8% cash back for yourself to spread more cheer and fresh scent!

Sometimes I wonder, with all the developing technology, if popular culture has turned into some freakish Sci-Fi movie that scared teenagers sitting in basements fifty years ago. What spawned this new outburst of thoughts? Easy: the advent of oscillating mascaras introduced by Lancôme and Estee Lauder. They look exactly like traditional mascaras with an average container, but have motors causing the wand to vibrate for a better, more thorough, and clump-free application.

Lancome According to Lancôme, the result of the vibrating mascara wand are lashes that are "extended, separated and visibly multiplies", okay, you are slowly convincing me. Although the thought of a motorized device that close to my eye (especially with my lack-of-precision) actually frightened me. At least it did, but that was before I saw the demonstration video at Lancôme.com and realized how slight the vibrations actually are; so slight that I probably do not need to worry about inflicting injury. Also, you must hold down the power button as you apply, for added safety. The Lancôme Oscillation Power Mascara boasts 7,000 oscillations per minute! That is some high-tech beauty! This product sells for $34 at Lancome.com with 6% cash back. Also, you receive a complimentary gift and free shipping; just enter code POWERMASCARA at checkout! I think it is definitely worth a try, if not just to weigh in you opinion on the matter and get a great free gift to boot!

Esteelauder If you are more of an Estee Lauder person, don't despair. They have launched ' Turbolash' All Effects Motion Mascara. Turbolash promises volume, length, curl, and separation all with one stroke of the trademarked and patent-pending LashSonic brush. This product was the first vibrating wand mascara, and it sells for $32 at Nordstrom with 3% cash back.

So the world of technology continues, taking with it a beauty staple like mascara. While I do enjoy the novelty of a vibrating mascara, and think its a fun addition to the makeup bag, I'm still a fan of my Givenchy Phenomenon eyes, as the ball applicator is enough tech for me.

Blockbuster Somewhere along the line, the idea of an individual "wanting it all" has received a bad reputation. I ask, "What's so wrong with wanting it all, especially when it comes to makeup?" For example, I want to get 30,000 different makeup combinations for just forty eight dollars. I want it all; I want seventy-one eye shadows, thirteen cream eye shadows, sixty lip glosses, five blushes, brushes, one compact powder, one lip liner, one eyeliner and three sponge applicators. What's more is that I want all of that to fold up in a sleek, portable black case. Too much to ask? Not for my pals at Sephora. The have just released the Sephora Brand Ultimate Blockbuster: Collectors Edition. This fancy little kit appeals to over-the-top collectors like myself, people who want the wonderful world of makeup right at their fingertips, theoretically at all times. I could bring this beauty chest to work with me and one second look like myself and the next be Tammy Faye Baker's doppelganger (R.I.P.). I want that kind of possibility in my makeup routine, and for a staggering $48 dollars with 4% cash back, I can. The collection makes an amazing gift for someone special on your list or just for yourself, so go ahead... you deserve it!

Tarte A little too much bang for your buck? I understand. That kind of selection can be a tad overwhelming. Try this Tarte Limited Edition Vanity Palette instead, a $494 value for just $52 dollars plus 4% cash back. This set features sixteen eye shadows and sixteen lip glosses, a deluxe mascara, mineral bronzer, luminizer, blushes, and two quality brushes to put it all together. This is an amazing kit, and it makes a great gift for everyone from the beauty obsessed (like yours truly) to those people on your list who need a little help. This kit is all one needs to create countless day or night beauty looks.

You can have it all (with some cash back) and so can everyone on your list!

Cold and flu season is that time of year that everyone dreads like the plague....or like the flu ( they should change that saying). I am one of those people that thinks they hate being sick more than anyone else and we are usually the ones to drop first. It is always those people who don't wash their hands, never sleep a wink or let a vitamin pass their lips that reign victorious. Which has led me to the conclusion that getting sick is 1/2 frame of mind ( "I will not get sick...") and 1/2 essential products that will keep you like bubble boy for the entire season.

First and foremost, you will need Vitamin C. There are all kinds of fancy brands and names. I think just regular vitamin C will do the trick. Check out a great selection at Puritans Pride, offering 6% cash back. While you are there, pick up an Echinacea and Goldenseal liquid extract, for just $14.99 and you get one free! It is always a good combo to keep in the arsenal.

Emergency

Add some Emergen-C Packets, on sale for just $10.46, 30% off original retail. These are great for on the go prevention and have B vitamins and other effective preventative compounds like Quercetin and Zinc.

Handjpg
I also recommended, stocking up on some kind of hand sanitizer for all of those times a sick person opens a door in front of you, boards the bus or gets anywhere near your personal space during the season. Try this EO Organic Hand Sanitizer six pack in lavender scent. It is currently on sale at Drugstore.com for 15% off and is now only $19, with 6% cash back. The six pack is great, you can stock your desk, work bag, car and home.

Zicam_2While you are shopping at Drugstore.com, I highly recommend adding some Zicam to your shopping cart and subsequently, part of your survival kit. This product is intended to reduce the severity of the common cold or prevent one from getting full blown sick. So if you feel something coming on, take some of this ( it comes in nasal swab form or lozenges) and your symptoms will not fully progress or last as long.

Hopefully, these suggestions for a Cold/Flu season survival kit will keep you well and enjoying all your cash back. Now is the time to stock up and save! Shop on!

Lash_stash I am a commitment-phobe when it comes to beauty products. I am always sure there is something better out there and I will leave my trusty favorites in search of a superior item. I usually come back, but I have to try everything else to be positive. When I stumbled upon The Lash Stash sampler at Sephora, I knew I had to get my hands on it. It comes with ten mini-sized best-selling mascaras, so you don't have to commit to just one until you have tried them all. It sells for just $35 (it is an $85 value) with 4% Cash Back. This item makes for a great gift and will bring smiles to the face of any woman you originally thought of buying chocolates for (unless it's your wife, then most often, neither are appropriate). I am picking up a couple; one for myself, one for my best friend, and one for my mom's stocking; apparently "beauty junkie" is genetic.
